  1. IMHO it is the coaches who allowed the PPA to take place in practices, which probably carried over to the games. We all know the defense was horsed up from Pellini's old philosphy and Coz's different approach and the resistance that took place when Coz came in, but it is up to the coaches (Coz) to change that and make the kids believe and put out the effort. This is all "water under the bridge" and I am not trying to beat a dead horse here, but if this defense does not take hold and put out maximum effort this year, then Coz should flat be run off! We may not have as much defensive talent as we would like, but I am talking about INTENSITY AND EFFORT. If that is not displayed then it should be Coz's *## that hits the street!! The guy has a lot to prove to me as a fan......even more than Cally. hunter
  2. congdon starts and helps us win some close games......it will happen that way hunter
  3. i know what we want, i know what the "want list" looks like, just wondering if this kid has some hidden talent or what? hunter
  4. word is Fryar's son has NU on the top of his list. ETR, what is the scoop on this kid? A "chip-off-the-old-block? hunter
  5. if we could get him to Memorial Stadium on a Saturday gameday, he might change his mind about a "rural school"........but me thinks the kid is hip to bright lights and the big city Hollywood scene.....too bad we would have loved to had him here. hunter
  6. if cally and coz did not learn anything during the 04 season then they are doomed to fail miserably....but i do not think that will happen.....but coz IMHO is still the big question mark...........?? hunter
  7. check this kid out from Oklahoma, No. 18 overall in the top 100. Blake is recruiting him and he was impressed and i think a visit is forth coming...if we could steal this guy anway from Oklahoma it would be just huge! keep an eye on this one.... hunter
  8. ff..........i know how you feel, but let's see what develops this season. no doubt cally chose to use some inflamatory phrases last year and just "didn't get it" when it came to the team, pride, etc. that we all feel for NU........i think it has taken him a full season to realize what NU is all about......so let's see how he handles the kids this year and his comments......if he displays the same attitude agin, then we will definitely find reason to fault him and call for his head...... hunter
  9. i think CU is going to be tough too.....we will no doubt lose some games, but should gain back some respect and play competitively this fall....no reason not to be better than last year...... hunter
  10. Cosgrove needs to step up and coach aa a leader, everyone needs to play "up" to the coaches expectations, assuming Coz has high expectations.......and no more "just one game, one season" crap from Cally......he needs to understand Husker pride, not excuse poor performance. i hope that we do not hear that talk anymore from the coaches, as it brings the kids/program down IMHO. hunter
  11. true, but even Juco ball is a step up from high school.....he has way too much to learn to start right away, maybe share some time with Zac by middle of the season, but with our team and schedule, there will not likely be any real "mop up time" for him to get comfortable.....we shall see...again a TALL order for a true freshman, no matter how good he may be......... hunter
  12. by the looks of this list NU better get after the recruiting and fast..i don't see the numbers of interested players that we generated in the last class...one class will not cut it, there has to be above average recruiting EVERY YEAR! hunter
  13. pretty obvious why the Texas schools never recruited them, eh? hunter
  14. we got a Calif. running back, a Florida QB, why not a Calif. WR? except for Sanchez, he could prob not do any better than have Beck throwing to him? hunter
  15. who really cares and why should we? if Josh wants to get a "head-start" then i think he should come in early.....hell when did it ever hurt to spend some extra time studying anything or trying at least to get a jump on the competiton?.....i say good for him, it shows me he is going to "drive hard" for playing time...... hunter
  16. ouch, with no official visit and an early decision looming, sounds like he has passed NU by? too bad, a visit would have been impressive for him.... hunter

i think scheduling tough oppoents is a good thing, playing a usc competitively can only help recruiting and raise interest. as far as reacting to a loss, look at Texas and how they finished off their season last year, after OU shut them down. good teams get over a loss or two and move on. in fact at the end of last year i think Texas was getting better and OU was about the same as they were at the beginning of the season, good teams get better, and as much as Texas sucks, they will be better this season too. hunter
  18. i could be wrong, but i don't see freeman coming to NU.......afterall, how much playing time could he expect to see with taylor and beck here? just doesn't make sense to me.....but who knows? hunter
  19. Marlon Lucky........'nough said.......he should be a huge playmaker hunter
  20. hell, i would pick Colorado ahead of these guys.......what is this sportwriter smoking? hunter
  21. for those feeling over confident, better go back and read eric the red's article again.....they played some very good competition damn close last year..don't think for a moment that their 5-6 matches our 5-6.or whatever their record was, they are in a MUCH TOUGHER league than NU......they prob wish we were not having a tune up game against Maine either, but this folks will be a damn tough game for us to win....win this one and it will be a test that should give the Huskers confidence to carry them on, but do not be surprised at a loss, although i hope i am wrong... hunter
  22. after playing the warm up game with Maine, sounds like the Huskers better be ready to play....imagine if we had wf's schedule huter
  23. i agree with most, Taylor has enough maturity to take care of the ball, the saga with JD should be enough to be a lesson for all, and Beck will need most of a season to adjust, as most have speculated correctly hunter
  24. if he is that great of a prospect why haven't any of the Texas schools offered? something is missing here........
  25. maybe it has been so long since we had anyone who could throw the ball really well, that Zac and others look better than they really are?? not trying to tear anyone down or diminish hopes, but who did we have in the past few years to compare these new guys to? just a thought..... hunter
