Tom should have gone for 1
There are times in retrospect I wish they did, especially when I see Miami listed as the 1983 National Champion. I still resent the hell out of the fact that we had to play a road game. But I'm glad they did go for 2; in that era without overtime it made more sense, and the decision is what most people remember about the game.
I think my bigger issue is with the play call rather than the decision. When you rush for 500 yards a game, don't put your whole season on a pass play. For one, Miami said later that they scouted it. I watched one of the other games from that year on Youtube recently (Kansas maybe?) and Nebraska went for a 2 point PAT at one point and ran the exact same play as the failed 2 pointer in the Orange Bowl - successful in this case, but from that point on, it was on film.- 1

I haven't seen the game. I officially don't care anymore.

Mike Rozier.

There are people that like Whipple's play calling?

We have an amazing ability to go away from things that work so we can force things that don't.

Yeah, it was pretty much inevitable CT would get hurt at some point with that protection.
Which of course makes it all the more frustrating that the backups don't look game ready.- 1

I think I'm more disappointed in Whipple than anything else.

You cannot win at any level when you turn the ball over that many times, backup QB or not.
Of course, I don't think that's really new information to anybody.- 1

Mickey Joseph is showing a knack for being able to draw blood from a stone.

The defense took a dump and then ran out of gas.

So, a two hand shove is roughing the passer now? Surely you jest.

You have to be #$@%ing kidding me.

So we might get what, a minute, assuming we can hold?

Oh my god Robinson, you had the game in your hands.

Sell out to stop this. Probably the game.

Need to be aggressive. You can't afford them to move down the field slowly.

Ugh, come on, tackle guys.

Turnover. C'mon, turnover.

Palmer's gonna single-handedly win this by himself!
Anyone know the school receiving record? -
Wisconsin is beatable. At home, anything goes. Due to win one in that series.
-
Sigh. You can't turn it over in a game like this; it's basically a 14 point swing.

You're gonna call PI now, after ignoring it most of the night.

I was only three when Mickey was a QB. Did he ever break any big runs?
Yep.
Unfortunately the two I seem to remember the most are the one where he got hurt and the one where he scored but the refs said he stepped out of bounds and it cost us a 19-0 lead in a game we ended up losing to the sCUm.

You can't do that now..... just..... UGH
What’s your (unpopular) Husker hot take?

I'm also annoyed that a #5 ranked team can ascend to #1 based on a razor-thin margin of victory on it's home field. But you know, I'm not bitter or anything.
Ever since the playoff was established, I think about those 80s teams all the time and how they might have fared. In 1983, Miami isn't even in it.
