It's the little things that we continue to screw up. The basic things.
I'm not going to be too critical.... it was a win, on the road, in a very harsh place.

Nobody on this defense can tackle. Nobody. They all stink.
-
OK... no messing around. Points on this drive, please. Make your blocks, catch the passes.
-
I remember a couple of "experts" thought Tech would upset Okie Light.
Um, yeah, not gonna happen.
-
My personal opinion is that threads like this are inflammatory and only serve to make the antagonism on this forum worse.
I despise these just as much as I hate the "Bo must go" stuff that inevitably pops up after a loss.
Few things represent arrogance and hubris to me more than telling someone you are a better fan than they are.
-
It is puzzling why they aren't better than they are. Every time I watch them, they seem like they are pretty fundamentally sound. Do they not get as much talent? Fitzgerald's a very good coach; I've always respected his ability.
He managed to exploit Nebraska's weaknesses to a T. It worked.

Just try and win out. Even if we don't win our division, I don't think 10-2 would be anything to complain about, should we get there.
-
Few things are more certain than a "fire the coach" thread after a loss. Especially when the loss reaches major universal equilibrium upset status, like this one does.
-
I don't think he's a great coach. But I think he's a good one. And he's what we have. I think he has a lot to learn, a lot of room to grow... and he will.
I'm disappointed in his performance today, but I don't think it is entirely his fault. I like the way he has responded to this loss.... no bullsh--t.... yes, we lost, we stunk, we move on, we get better.
There's plenty of room for improvement and I think he knows that. I'd much rather this approach than the "everything is hunky dory" approach that Callahan and Cosgrove fed us every week.

I guess we're all being sent to BRB... or forking out 20 bucks
-
I'll take some of the blame. I'm a Packer fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan... I guess someone decided I've been enjoying sports too much this year.

Absolutely no creativity on offense.
No diamond. No reverse. No jailbreak screen.
The situations were just BEGGING for these plays. Where were they?
Why do you go more vanilla when you are BEHIND?

The fact this is the NINTH game.... that's what drives me crazy. You should be playing your best football this time of year.
This is the ninth game... you don't have your starting secondary figured out. You haven't figured out your best players at a number of positions. How long do you need?
-
I'll add this: home field. When did we lose our swagger playing on our own turf?
One team absolutely owns us on our home field every year.
-
Whenever we lost it in the trenches.
Somewhere along the way, our #1 focus changed, from owning line of scrimmage to becoming something else.
Bob and Tom would have never stood for a 95th ranked rushing defense pushing around our lineman like that.
-
Offense in first half. Two red zone turnovers. Other drives stopped by penalties, dropped passes. Failed to pick up first down on a couple of 3rd and 2s and one 4th and 2.
Defense in second half. 81 yard pass play right after we score. Then, 13 plays, all runs, to kill clock and take 10 point lead late. 468 yards given up.
Special teams - Gave up 50 yard kickoff return to start second half; led to easy momentum-sapping TD.
-
I think we might have a new contender.
-
We've learned nothing.
Because we are the same football team we were in 2008, 2009, 2010. That is, look like a world beater and then decidedly average, or worse, the very next week.
We lose a home game we shouldn't against an opponent with a losing record, because we show up unprepared, unfocused, and with a little bit of an inflated ego.
Basically, we're right at the status quo.

....the 4th annual Bo Pelini bed-wetting contest.
*sigh*
I'm still a Pelini fan... but I'll never understand why we have to do this once a year. One game where every god damn thing goes wrong.
Is it so hard to respect your opponent enough that you give them the benefit of the doubt? Or do we have too many guys who were growing nice and fat all week beaming about all the wonderful press they were getting?
I think it is fairly apparent that football teams take on the personality of the coach... well we know Bo is intense, but he's also extremely volatile. The fortunes of this program under his tutelage seem to be equally volatile.
I don't want anyone fired. I don't want anyone singled out for this.
Rather, I just want to see something resembling consistency. The masterpieces like last week's game make the ones like this so much harder to swallow.
-
Um, does THAT answer the question?
-
Well, we obviously aren't the ones you should be asking, cause we don't f-ckin' know how to do it.
-
Well, back to reality. Last week was clearly the exception, and not the norm.
Just an average football team that punches above its weight once in awhile and then loses an unloseable game the next week.

Somebody wake me up.
Just happy they won.

If for no other reason, than the fact we have all been spared.
Spared days and weeks full of sappy, sanctimonious crap. "Oh, we did it for Joe!" "Oh, what an emotional win". "Oh, JoePa's so great, he's just misunderstood".
