  1. Not only are you born with it, but you die with it. The loyalty never leaves you.

You can travel all over the world with it, and it's always with you. And you inevitably meet somebody, somewhere, who is "one of us". There are hordes of us in every state, north and south, east and west.

Some of us even live on the other side of the world, in another hemisphere, where it is summer during winter and winter during summer. Even here, in this far corner of the globe, I have met other Husker fans.

Those from a neighboring state like to point out that "it's because your state is so bleak and so boring, that that's all you got." What they fail to understand is that we're everywhere.

No matter where I go in the world, I'm always happy to call myself a Nebraskan, moreso than anything else, even though I've lived in other places for much longer periods of time.

  2. Depends on the bowl tie in. Back when the Big 8 went to the Orange Bowl, we were the home team. Made Miami the visitor in their own stadium.

    yeeeeeeeeah. i remember that.

i also remember that that was an absolute joke back in the day.

That Big 8 rule must not have come in right away..... I seem to recall us wearing white in the two Orange Bowls prior to '84, against Clemson and LSU. We also did for the '72 and '73 Orange Bowls. I could never figure that out.

Don't have a problem with being the away team.... I like our away uniforms. With RED pants.

  3. If you'd have asked me during the 80s, it would have been Oklahoma.

If you'd have asked me during the 90s, it would have been Colorado.

Colorado is probably still #1, but it's not as clear-cut these days. Missouri is really making a serious run for their money.

KSU and the rest of the conference aren't really much more than occasional annoyances.

Out of conference, it would be Miami, Florida State, and the Big 10, in that order.

  4. Who knows the pain of cricket, cricket, and more cricket on TV? And 3:30 am clock alarms, to tune into latent radio broadcasts?

And futile attempts to watch games on TVU, or Slingbox, or some other online internet TV site that only seems to carry the NBA network?

Interested in hearing all your stories, both successful and of failure, and what you're going to do next week, since CBS games never seem to make it onto Australian cable.

  5. This was an awful game. I don't know how it could qualify for classic status anywhere, outside of maybe Atlanta and a few suburbs.

GT would have smashed the Buffs that year. Wish we could have seen it happen.

  6. It isn't half as bad as the fetishism they had for Michael Vick back when he was in college. I even remember a hilarious website somebody had made up called VSPN.

ESPN finds one player every year that they put on a ridiculously high pedestal. Usually the best quarterback in the SEC.
