  1. That doesn't seem like a particularly strong argument to me. Is anyone for larger government for the sake of larger government? It seems like you're trying to draw parallels where there aren't any.
  2. The same could be said for people who seem to believe the government can solve so many problems if they allowed more and more into our lives but.....hey.....look at the horrible things they are capable of doing. The blade cuts both ways. Huh? I think those are quite a bit different. I happen to think that the government is capable of good and is capable of evil. That seems dissimilar from the "government is always bad!" crowd, right? Where did I say you were the one I was talking about? There are people who when you talk about government encroachment into our lives have the attitude of...."Come on, that's just a bunch of tin foil hat stuff. They are only trying to help". Meanwhile, it has proven time and time again that it can do the most awful/horrendous things when allowed more and more power. So what are you trying to say with the bold?

  4. I think that the most baffling aspect of public opinion on this issue is that a sizable portion of the population that claims to not trust the government supports the government when it is either torturing or executing people. The baffling part is that the cognitive dissonance isn't absolutely crippling.
  5. Are you asking why we should be better than they are?
  6. In some cases you're right but we shouldn't be so cowardly as to stoop to their level. Make no mistake that cowardice and fear are what we're talking about here. Torturing people isn't an act of patriotism or bravery.

  11. They have to drag it out through 2016 . . . you know why . . .

  13. For some reason they were less interested in covering Benghazi a week ago when the House Intelligence Committee released the results of yet another investigation that showed that there was zero wrongdoing. What's crazy is that so many people (my father included) lap it all up. Hook, line, and sinker. Link to the investigation results? https://intelligence.house.gov/sites/intelligence.house.gov/files/documents/Benghazi%20Report.pdf
  14. No . . . what this program needs is a hire who will win here. His results at Oregon State don't mean sh!t if he can win at Nebraska. I completely agree that we need to win something meaningful soon and Riley has a better shot at that than one recently departed coach. Just crazy to me that the biggest Bo defenders who swore that "THIS IS THE YEAR!" (every year) are so pessimistic. Let him coach a couple games here first, eh? Do not mistake me for a Bo supporter. I have been crushing him and his staff since 2012.
  15. This makes far more sense. IMO it's far more likely that this was a 1 year coaching search than a 2-3 day search. All done well in advance . . . and very under the radar.
  16. Oh, it's not the goals themselves that I was questioning. I think those are pretty reasonable. Number 3 might be a long shot but it's not out of the question. If you were holding Bo to those same standards that's fair.

  18. Really? Who would you have hired to replace Bo back in 2010?
  19. Does that speak to the obscurity of the coaching hires Pelini has made? That's not what i take from it 'course not.
  20. senior - haven't seen any indication he'll try for a medical RS but we'll see 1620 (I think) this morning said that he will be back next season.
