  1. This decision is Pelini's as usual. Watson is likely on the same page, but honestly if it blows up the guy who should get the questioned is Bo.

Green had a solid performance last week, but this is a step up. I don't know. I think I'd go with Cody still, but it's not like he lit it up. Taylor has some cold spells but he is also possibly more useful in the passing game than Cody. Tough call.

    True

  2. Headsets just mean you hear the coaches chatter. Depending on where I have coached and what my coaching position was there have been times when I wore them. Here it what you hear

    1. Down and Distance

    2. Spot of the ball (which hash mark or in the middle)

    3. Personel grouping that is either entering or needs to enter

    4. Play call

Then, each of those steps is charted so that when you watch film, you know what was called.

Thats it, coaches are very very strict and uptight about what gets said because if to many people start talking nothing gets done.

To many people seem to think that something magical happens with the headsets, its just not the case. When you see a coach yelling on a headset, it is usually telling the asst. coaches to shut the hell up.

So what you are saying is that there really is no advantage to him wearing the headset. Great info I alwasy wondered what the hell was being said on those.

Not really, I suppose that if you know the play ahead of time you can think to yourself what you would be looking for, like if you were out on the field.

Jamrog will have one on so that he can hear the play calls and stuff like that and then you will hear some idle chatter from time to time. Thats it, you really dont have time for anything else. When you think about it the play ends and you have about 40 seconds, thats it. So no, you dont really learn much. I know sometimes people think there is some great teaching that goes on with it but thats what the phones are for. The QB will come over, call up to the booth and the coach will say "what did you see on that play", the QB will tell the coach that they saw such and such coverage and thats why they tossed the ball to that side and the coach will do some teaching at that point.

  4. From a very reliable source that I have used in the past, number one is completely accurate and he actually was suspended Friday. The other things are educated guesses at this point. We will never know if TMart actually did do those things. To me, if he does not play at all against OU it would be a good indication of things to come. If he was healthy enough to play the very night he was hurt he would have been healthy enough to play last week.

Huh??? No, there is a huge difference from gutting it out in a game you already started playing, getting dinged up again, having it swell up again and basically starting all over with rehab. Now, that is just from my experience of playing and then coaching for a long time.

Ehh. You are probably right no sarcasm.

I hurt my ankle my freshmen year. It was the first time that I had done it so it hurt like hell. Totally different though, mine rolled to the inside instead of the exterior like Taylor's.

God, I HATE that feeling of the rolled ankle!!!!!!! Just thinking about it now almost gives me that sick feeling. You ever notice how it always happens like before some cool event? Friends 21st bday, boating trip, party. Last time I rolled mine, was 24 hours before a bachelor party to Party Cove!! Lets just say it took lots of booze to fix me up.

Anywho, I didnt mean for my post to read like I was being an a-hole to you. Most of my posts are just a poor attempt at humor.

  6. Here is something to think about. When a player transfers or wants to transfer, the very first thing that a coach does is call the old coach of that player (Yes, it is a violation if the player has not technically left the school yet but you know what I mean).

That means that a coach from another school would be calling Bo to ask all about T-mart. Do you really think that at that time, Bo would keep up with this crazy "lie", no, coaches really dont burn each other like that. So the entire charade would be over anyway.

This email rumor has more lies in it then the sh#t I say to girls at the bars.

This email reads like something that the mega-virgins over at HI would go crazy for.

  7. Dude, when March Madness was here in Omaha a few years ago this was going on nonstop. Me and a buddy kept toying with the guy, telling him we would buy them, then asking for more proof that they were real and then sending him a million emails asking more and more questions then trying to haggle on the price again. It was a blast!!

The guy was also from England, trying to sell "tickets" for college basketball. It was priceless.

  8. Stanford vs NU is a win-win match up I think. Standford gets tons of respect (as they should) they have a QB that will be a top 5 pick if he comes out, they have a coach that is well respected.

It would be a great match up to see if they could throw on the NU secondary, which I dont think they could. If NU wins that game, they end up 12-2 with wins over 3 top 15 teams? Would that be about right? OSU, Zoo and Stanford.

  9. I remember when I got on here after the Western Kentucky game telling a story of how a friend of mine lived on the same floor with Martinez and said he was disrespectful and arrogant, telling walk-ons that they didn't even belong on the team. Man did I get ripped for that. The rumors of him wanting to quit the team last summer were true. Coaches haven't liked his attitude from the beginning. He's imo a great player who could turn out to be the best at Nebraska, and I really respect what he did for his dad and family, but he's a jerk of a person.

Not that this isnt true but lets face it, lots of kids at UNL dont like the football players. He could say something like "Hey if you are going down to the vending machine can you grab me a soda" and it turns into "Yeah, so T-mart tried to get me to be his bitch and grab him a soda"

    You know?

  10. I would think with how sweet the defense is now and will continue to be that our offense could really take some chances, especially early, to get a lead. That will make the defense even more special.

do you have any idea how long the fire Watson thread would be if those chances don't pay off.

Good point! It actually might shut down the inter-web!

  11. Here is the problem with almost all the posters, they fall in two camps.

    1. If the offense does bad then its not Watsons fault because of (insert excuse here, injury, drops, refs, Bo telling him not to be aggressive).

    2. If the offense does well then its not because of Watson it is because of (amazing player, facing bad defense)

The fact is, he has called some really good games and some really bad games. I think what bothers most people is that when they face a team that is in the top 30 or maybe even top 40 in scoring defense that Watson tends to get shut down.

He just seems to get outcoached or possibly tries to out smart himself at times.

well thats a nice way of saying he sucks. guess you fall in your own camp.

I do fall into my own camp, thats why I said "ALMOST ALL THE POSTERS".

    I think he does suck.

  13. Some of you are writing people off to soon. Try to put yourself at 19-20 years old and basically the "CEO" of a company, that is what a QB is, especially to a team that is running an offense that is QB driven.

If he got in trouble for drinking there would be a bunch of "College kids drink" posts, because its not a big deal. Well guess what, being unsure, being scared, being cocky, being quiet, those are things that all college kids do to.

I do know, that usually, the thing that motivates people the most is one others doubt them. We have all been there I am sure. My guess, is that he comes back better then ever.

Think how many things you would love to get a do over on when you were 18-20. Maybe it was not talking back to a cop, chaning your major, actually putting on a rubber instead of just saying its on, saying "I love you" to a girl. I know I have changed since I was that age, which was not that long ago for me. I am guessing he can too, if there is even anything to change.

  14. Here is a thought, something I just came up with right now after coaching for 10 years. If a WR is really really good but isnt a great blocker, then do few things.

    1. Run AWAY from the side he is on during the game.

    2. Motion him across the formation and run away from him.

    3. Run him deep on run plays to take a DB away.

    4. Put him in when you are going to pass.

  15. Yeah, the morning guys, if you are talking about shick and nick are basically all about joking around and goofing around. Thats fine too but I just dont get to listen to them all that much but when I do, I still find it pretty funny.

In all honestly, I was not a fan of Matt Perault BUT i would still rather have another local sports show on the radio then a national one. What about you guys?

I am still shocked that there is not another local 3-4 hour sports show either during the morning drive or at night, in Omaha.
