  1. Maybe I'm reading into it a little too much.

I was actually seeing a little bit of what you were my friend. I was always taught to look another man in the eye when he is giving you advice, correcting you, whatever. Lee would not look Pelini in the eye. This is the moment he lost my total trust. Either he was that disrespectful that he would not look Bo in the eye while he was talking to him, or he was that afraid of Bo that he would not look him in the eye, which shows no fight. Either way i didn't like it. I have kind of stood by him, but I don't think he is our man any more.

Come on man, this is wayyyyyyy over the top.

  2. The correct call was made, and I don't think its debatable. How many times before that play did they have to reset the clock during the game? At least three if I remember correctly. I know it sucks to lose that way, but there was clearly a second left when the ball hit.

I will give you that, if you can show me what the ball hit. All I saw was that the ball went behind a camera man, so we dont really know when it hit anything, do we?

  3. The Huskers brought their A game and played their hearts out. It was a close game and that is naturally going to lead to extreme disappointment and bitterness. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be butt hurt had the end result been different.

That said, Texas was 2-3 James Kirkendoll dropped passes from nearly covering the spread. The refs also goofed big time when they blew the kickoff dead at the 1 when Goodwin slipped to the ground. He didn't have possession of the ball at the time. There were flubs and missed opportunities on both sides of the ball. That's the nature of football.

The refs were right to blow that dead, you can't fumble forward to yourself and then be the first person to pick up and advance the ball. That is why you cant fumble forward and make the ball go out of bounds to get a first down. It is a rule, it has always been a rule. You dont see it to much because most players dont try to do it.

The UT WR that dropped some passes, well, lets face it, that is just part of the game, if Kinnie gets a foot down in the endzone NU wins easy. Or if the last kick off doesnt take a wicked bounce OB then UT probably doesnt score on that drive. That is the fun part of the game though, you can always play the wishes and buts card.

It was a great game and it is great to see, from an NU fans standpoint, that the Skers have the players to compete with a team that routinly has a top ranked class and that they have the coaches to outcoach other teams.

  5. Hmmm... I think there is some negative recruiting probably going on out there as well.

    ***snip***

That's the first thing I thought too. I can see MU and others saying "Why go to Nebraska? They don't even throw the ball."

I will admit . . . the whole recruiting process leaves me feeling uncomfortable. I have a feeling it's a lot more dirty than we know.

It is WAYYYYY dirtier then you know and it should be and it has to be.

How exactly do you know and why should it be?

Sounds like teacher is a HS coach from what I've read of his posts.

Sorry, I did not mean to make it sound like I was some super insider, but I do coach and have for 10 years now in the state. I have been lucky enough to coach 4 D1 guys.

Recruiting is dirty, its not like they bring wads of cash or stuff like that, its just dirty though. It needs to be, getting those kids to your school is basically your life.

  7. I think this is typical of what we will see from NU staffs, they offer early to kids that have not really been "discovered", they get in tight before the other schools do and they hope they can hold on.

I think that this is going to be an effective method for them and it shows how they can sniff out talent. This kid will have offers from lots of schools that got in later then NU but because NU got there first, there will be that little feeling of loyality and it will result in getting some very very good players.

  8. I think it is ideal, 500 miles usually means about a 90 minute plane ride and hopefully no connections or just one connection and it is about 7-8 hours to drive. These are things that families find comforting because even though its far from home it is still close.

It is much easier to get a kid to come in to visit when they can drive or fly in a short time.

  9. I agree, but some offers are far more important than others. Can you really tell me that the Evans offer, now a wr, was just an important of an offer as it would be if White would want to commit? Or are you telling me that landing Cotton would be just as big of a get as landing Cooper or OO? Landing Cotton was like going to the bunny ranch and getting laid.

Can you really tell me the opposite? During recruiting would you have rather had O'Hanlon or Major Culbert? Who ended up being the better player?

I don't want to rehash the whole recruiting rankings debate again, but how can you possible decide White is a better offer than Evans? It's all just opinions.

Which one got shuffled around between offense and defense? <_<

Ummm yeah, cause he was average at best, thats why they moved him around. Let it go, BC was average at recruiting at best.

  10. IF you start trying to hold on to scholarships you will start to get burnt down the line. It is an unsafe practice, the staff offers kids that they think will help them with their goals, which means each kid they offer is important.

Some kids will jump on that chance and some wont. The thing is, the staff has done its homework and knows who it wants. What fans might percieve as a "waste" of a scholly is not looked at that way to the staff.

  11. Owa's visit went well. Gave it a 9/10. He did hang out with Suh a bit this weekend, though Jason Ankrah was his official host. All the usual events––academic support, coaches meetings, players lounges, facilities. He even met with Tom Osborne and had a nice conversation about the Nebraska tradition and state support.

According to him, we're in his top three or four. Sounds like a little work has yet to be done (and he has a couple more visits lined up), but we are definitely in the running. So keep your fingers crossed and hope we can manage to knock off Texas in the Championship game.

Isnt 9/10 kind of low? I mean, it seems like most of the time every trip is a 10/10 for every kid to every school, so wouldnt that make 9/10 on the low end?

I dont think I have ever even seen a kid give a trip anything lower then a 9/10.

Could you imagine a recruit saying a trip was a 4.5/10 or something like that.

  12. I have coached against him and if he was 6'4 he would be a BIG TIME recruit, as it is, his numbers probably put him in the top 15 or so overall for all QBs.

He has played linebacker too and the kid just "gets it" and he loves the weight room.

  13. I don't think that "not punishing Asante" for this means that "we are returning there". The fact that he Pelini has kicked players off the team, especially 2 weeks before the season for failed drug tests, shows that he is running a fairly tight ship in terms of "institutional control". The comparisons to the "miami" teams are unfounded...that program was way out of control, on and off the field. Not fair to put this team and staff in the same category based on one play or player's performance.

I agree.. Heck, I am a HS coach who preaches CLASS week in and week out, but I truly believe that Bo is in control of this team and Asante did deliver a "cheap shot", but not unlike probably 10-15 other guys across the county this weekend. ESPN has always and will always have it "out" for NU , so anything they say or think is relatively useless.

I like all you posted, but that part about ESPN having it out for NU, come on, they have no vendetta. Lets get back to ripping the original poster now.

  14. :yeah

Nope, wrong again, not a BCer, think the firing was the right thing to do. I think hiring Pelini was the right thing. But I also think Pelini looking the other way about this type of play, while we are be hammered on ESPN and SI for what Larry Asante has done the last two weeks. If Bo would just step up and do the right thing, maybe everyone could move on. Until he does, he will look classless and weak.

Sorry, but this post stinks of a BCers thoughts. I was on the bigredboard long enough to know how you guys work.

Maybe Bo should resign but before he does he should rip up the schollys of any player that was flagged this year.

Fans like you don't even know what it means to be a Husker fan.

Okay, I can live with that. I am just glad I am not a BCer who is trying to stir things up.

  15. I am disappointed in some husker fans for threads like this.

Everyone is responding to the hit in the OU game. It's not just that hit and celebration, it was the follow up VERY late and VERY dirty hit in the KU game. Come on, I don't want him kicked off the team, but he should at least be made to apologize. He should do this BEFORE the Big XII office steps in this week.

What good does it do in FORCING a person to say sorry?!?!?! They dont really mean it, so it carries no weight at all!

Have you noticed that neither Stoops nor Maningo have said anything about it? That tells you all you need to know.

Mangino has already filed a complaint with the Big XII, according the ESPN

Here is a newsflash, its not a complaint, all flags are reviewed by each team, each team then submits a video of each one of those plays for official review from the league, asking for either an explanation, an apology or a punishment. It is done for every single game and every single flag that is thrown.

Then the head of officials reviews each and every flag for the league that they are responsible and they grade the refs or hand out warnings, apologies or suspensions.
