Martinez was a good passer if you didn't ask him to throw over 15 yards. He was a 10% passer between 15-20 yards and a 16% passer over 20 yards.
The 45 fumbles is still almost unbelievable. I can't imagine that not being the all-time record.
The freaky part was how many he or NU recovered.

If that is the case that it never ceases to amaze me how much history repeats itself, didn't Pedey send a private jet to pick up Houston Nutt at Arkansas only for the jet to come back empty? That after firing a coach who had just finished one year with his retooled assistant coordinators, including a new DC?
Also, this feels like the "Go get a Nebraska guy" part of the cycle where all the fans want a particular guy, the AD is fired and they go get that guy everybody wants. Pelini last cycle, Frost this cycle.
Yeah, I get what you are saying BUT (huge but) if they do get Frost and his does well here he will be here for 25 years...he wouldn't leave for another job if he was winning the West every other year. You know?

Might be a tough sell to not only fire all those dudes but then hire better ones when they know MR would really just have that one season to produce.

If they are using a top notch searching service that service will provide the personnel that best fits Nebraska both for AD and coach.
No kidding...I mean I think they find coaches that would say yes for sure...if not they would just hand the new AD this list
1. Saban
2. Meyer
3. Sweeney
4. George Halas Zombie
5. Belichek

And we all know that would be your answer if he went undefeated the rest of the way and won the conference.
I would hope so!

You can him...you don't let 17-18 year olds hold the program hostage. Shoot, history tells us that what, 40% of those recruits will never do anything.

Pretty simple. IF your top choice tutns you down, you ask your 2nd choice. So on and so forth. Or just go the Eichorst route and ask your 10th choice right out of the gate.
This is so funny!

I am maybe one of the few that thinks he will turn down the job.
Just a guess...but if they are using a firm wouldn't that firm give a list of like 3-5 coaches that WOULD take the job?

Ill has had 2 weeks to prepare - this is a short week for NU. So we'll see if Lovie has some surprises that can turn his O around. If they can rattle Lee and then crowd the line against our running game - they will have a chance.
Question: If Lee throws an interception in quarter 1 or 2 - do you think MR will pull him for O'Brien?
I don't think they pull him unless he sucks AND it is out of hand.

Schools that are likely to be hit next, according to sources: Auburn, Arizona, Alabama - and Illinois' Brad Underwood -
2-10 on the year
NU- 5.5
Minny -13
USC -3.5 (Prediction...WSU gets up big but blows it late)
-
They are pretty young, Lovie is a better coach than Riley...but I am not sure how much that will matter in this game.
If Riley unplugs Langs's headset I think the Huskers run for 250 and win with ease. If Langs's headset is working I think this becomes a game.

Wow, I actually like that most pick NU to not only win but win pretty handily.
I just can't see Illinois scoring enough points, unless NU gets Tanner Lee'd out there.

I do like the filet-o-fish...I think it is the tartar sauce. Good stuff!
When I was a kid and would get picked up from basketball practice I would usually beg my mom to stop and I would get the #2 (I think) two cheeseburgers, medium fry and a medium drink for 2.99.
I think that same meal is like 5.99 now.

Why do I get a bad feeling that we might be wishing for 28 ppg by the end of the season.
We're at 30 right now against the easy third of our schedule.
Yikes...I didn't think about that.

Survives the season. Like the guy. My gut says he'll be gone after the season. I don't see them winning enough.
- They can't score 40-50+ points like so many teams do easily. Why is this so hard to do at Nebraska anymore?
- They invite defenders into the box with their bunch sets. And then attack the box. Ohhh, that's why.
- They don't dominate games. They play to stay in games. That benefits the other team.
- Special teams isn't so special.
- They don't create turnovers.
- Many other teams use spread formations to gain an advantage, and it works. It works against us, and we don't use it.
Hate to admit this but... Riley, Langs and Cavanaugh have turned us into Nebraska State.
Funny you said that. I think that they sort of keep teams in games as well because of their slow moving offense. They take a lot of time in the huddle, they take a lot of time at the line...It limits their possessions and the other teams so now you end up (even with crappy teams as we have seen) games that are close and in doing so you can end up with a bad break and lose. Illinois, Purdue, BYU, Ark State (almost), NIU, the list goes on and on

It's not working for you.
What do you think he record be through 30 games here at NU? I can't picture it being worse. When he was at Wisconsin he did just fine in two years...I think 19 wins?

You would take one of the least successful coaches ever at Oregon State(that's quite an accomplishment) over their most successful coach ever.
Says much more about YOU than anything else. At least you're being honest so we all know how much weight to attach to any further coaching opinions you offer. I'll keep a feather scale handy.
Gary Andersen....lol. Things that carry more weight than you coaching evaluation: Grain of sand, styrafoam kernel, belly button lint.......
Well yeah, we already have seen how Mike Riley has done here. So the only question you have to ask is do you think Andersen would have more wins, less wins or the same amount of wins as Riley does if he was NU.
I think Andersen would NOT have beat MSU...But I think he would not have lost to Purdue, Illinois and BYU. (instead of 6-7 Andersen would have went 8-5)
I think in year two he would have lost to Oregon and all the other teams Riley did. (8-5, one game worse)
I think this year he would be 3-1 right now.
I think his record here at the same point would be 19-11 where Riley is 17-13 (I think those are the records)

Yeah that Keaton guy was a stud. I think they almost beat Auburn with him.
