  1. Wake Forest as I will be there for that game. It will tell us where we really are at I think. If we play like a real team and beat the snot out of them, I think we are on our way back. I truly think they will be tougher than Pittsburgh. I have tickets to both, but may have to leave before the Pitt game. To me this is the Texas Tech game of last year. We win and win it big the sky is the limit, if we lose the wheels will come off quickly.
  2. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine, is I admire his ability, his attitude is all about Eric. I do not dislike him, but he is not nor will he ever be a favorite Husker.
  3. It is beginning to sound like we have a real team this year. That is a pretty strong motto. I hope actions speak louder than words this year. I think they will.
  4. I think Frost went to Stanford to learn under Walsh, most would if they were recruited to be QB by a legendary Coach. Eric, quit the team and left, Frank got on his knees to beg him back. This situation caused many problems with the other coaches and players. Eric had to have the ball every single play for his Hypsman award. Lord never got to play because Frank was afraid Eric would quit again. He hurt this program with his attitude and actions. He got the Hypsman and sent the program down the tubes, you can idolize him if you want, but I do not.
  5. My comments were, they will be favored. I still think they will. Most likely they will be rated in the top 15-20. I stated they were running a new offense and could be in the same situation as we were last year. I did not say we would lose the game. I said they would be favored if we struggled with Wake Forest. They played and defeated two top 25 teams last year one was Boston College who lost to Wake Forest. These smaller teams seem to play up a notch when in this situation. I still say we do not have cup cakes to play. Both will give us a very good game and will not be intimidated by our stadium. Until we are back winning regularly home field advantage is only in our minds. As stated before, I think we win both games. But if we do not roll these two teams do not be disappointed in the program. They will come to play, I think Wake Forest will be a tougher game due to their history of playing very well against better competition. Pittsburgh will have offensive problems. But until we play a real game, we are just going off of hopes, not facts. Our offense could struggle as well. Early in the year for both. Who ever accomplished the most in fall practice will win this game. I think BC will have all ready to play but I do not expect a blow out in either game. I hope I am wrong and all can say I told you so.!!!!!!!
  6. That is a pretty amazing fact, I had forgotten about that. When I think of Scott Frost I think Husker. When I think of Eric, thats it just Eric.
  7. Your comments deserve no response Dave. Yes Amy it is the same QB. But he made huge strides during the year. Until we play a game we have no idea of what we have. Last year there were people on these boards calling Joe Hypesman material. We would win the conference and go to a BCS game. Drooling to play Oklahoma, not one ounce of respect for a lowly Texas Tech team, the only team in the Big 12 that has been to a bowl game every year of it's existance. Reality was, it did not happen. We will see how this year turns out. It could very easily be the same as last year. It could turn out that the kids will jell and we will have a very good team. But there is no reason to disrespect or to think other programs can not improve. That idea is what got us into this mess in the first place. I doubt BC is taking Wake Forest or Pittsburgh as gimme games. I hope I am wrong about these being tough games. I predicted a 5-6 year last year with the loss to Tech as being the main stumbling block and missed the final score by 10 points that we scored. My guess for this year is 8-3 or 7-4 and if we achieve those numbers I will be very happy. My guess by the time the season is over our strength of schedule will rise quite a bit.
  8. Callahan will be here for as long as he wants. Losing season or not he will be here for at least 2 more years after this one. No other fool would take the job if we fired him that quickly. Unless Barry is waiting in the wings. Could be, who knows.
  9. We played them in a mud soaked field. They were 8-3 at the end of regular season. They have a QB that is being Hypsmaned. They have recievers that are qualified to say the least They beat Boston College They beat Notre Dame They beat West Virginia Two rated teams. They steadily improved over the year, you can decide what we did. I am not saying we lose this game. Just give the respect that they deserve.
  10. Remember we went 5-6 last year. Pitts is a BCS team from last year that is highly rated. Expected to play for the Big East title. If we struggle with Wake and I think we will, we will be at least 7 points down.
  11. Frost was a team player, Eric was well we need not go into that. I must admit I am not an Eric fan and I never have been. He has tremedous ability though.
  12. Scott Frost was a better QB. He actually used the offense. Athlete would have to be Eric.
  13. They will be favored at our house I would guess. This is a good team that has improved since last year. The question is will all buy into Wanstadt? They could have some of the same problems that this program had last year. If we struggle with Wake Forest, they will be favored by over 7. No matter the Husker glasses vision, we have a very tough schedule this year. Pittsburgh, if undefeated when they hit Memorial Stadium will be a top 15 team, I would guess. We need to worry more about Wake Forest than Pitt. If we overlook them we will be in real trouble. I think if either have a good day and we are not on top of our game we could lose both. Just to much inexperience on our team to take anyone with the talent these two teams have lightly. Rawhide, Went to Californian's for Nebraska picnic yesterday. Not much of a turn out. You should have gone. Then there might have been 25. A long drive to Dana Point that I will not be making again I would guess. Traffic was hell, over 2.5 hours for a 78 mile drive.
  14. Progressively getting worse.
  15. I have been hearing Phillips is doing great things in the 7 on 7 practice. This could be the reason. Just a little info I have heard. Don't know if it is true or not.
  16. There were some bad kids in the program no question. Second chances are fine. But to bascially try and form a mutiny is a different thing. Give me bad asses anytime over cry baby quitters. If your team mate does not have your back at all times he is not a team mate. We lost that idea when Frank took over. Prima donnas were the order. Tom may have given second chances but he never let the players run the program. Frank did. And if you check my history you will find that I am a big fan of Frank, I just realize he was not a head coach, he never was nor will he ever be one. He does not know how to manage, recruit or lead. He is a good guy who deserved better treatment, but he needed to go and there are many reasons not even listed as to why.
  17. Chicago, I have nothing to add. You stuck that one. You get a 10.
  18. Unfortunately being an old retired (retarded some would say) Marine, I have a very different outlook. To do or die, it is not for me to question why, Semper Fi. That is what I expect from a Nebraska player. Under Frank those standards were lost in my opinion. I look at Nebraska as an elite program those are the standards of America's elite fighting force. I have no use for quitters, I never have nor will I ever. I do not consider leaving the program as a quitter. I consider players that quit being the best they can be on the field a quitter. Moving on to other opportunities to play are part of life. Washington and Bullocks quit on the field last year and quit on the team. They are not Huskers in my book and I will never forget nor forgive. I could careless about their pro careers.
  19. Fights with room mates is not something I would consider unusual. I never spent time in a college dorm but spent many nights in a Marine barracks. Jar heads are little more apt to getting in fights than your normal college kid I would guess, but being the same age and testosterone levels being the same I can can see it happening easily. Still not a big deal to me. I am sure it happens every night, we just do not hear about it unless it is a football player.
  20. Pitt will be favored as they are predicting a shot at the Big East champion and are the returning champion. They will be ranked in the top 20 and maybe the top 15 when we play them. Iowa State is tabbed by some to win the North. If we are favored it will be by a small amount. Things go off of last year. We were 5-6 and until we show that we are better there will be little respect for us. If we are undefeated by the time we play Iowa State I would agree we will be favored.
  21. Daniel and Josh were major problems last year. It is my understanding that Daniel has made a complete turnaround from last year and is buying into the system. All three were told last year to hit the road if they could not become team players. I will wait until a few games down the road to see if the turn around is true. Leopards do not change their spots. Hopefully this one has. The staff is giving him every opportunity to do so. He has the talent, but is/was a major fan of Pelini. These three, with the help of Pelini caused some major recruiting problems last year. In honesty I am amazed he is still here, but the reason from what I was told, he stayed due to the fact he had the most talent of the two and it would allow Josh to go higher in the draft. Again, a using tactic in my mind, but if he comes out this year and is a team player, I will give him credit for getting his head on right. I hope he does. From what I hear he is trying very hard. The fact that he was at media day is encouraging in my opinion. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong.
  22. Favored teams we play will be Pittsburgh, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma and Colorado at this time. If Kansas opens and plays well they could be favored at home if we drop a game before them. I think we lose to Colorado and Texas Tech. Upset Oklahoma at home. But by the time we play them they could have two or three losses so they may not be an upset. We upset Pittsburgh.
  23. I have no problems with kids leaving early for the NFL. I have problems with kids quitting during the season and causing dissention on the team. Both Washington and Bullocks were guilty of those things. I am glad both are gone. I wish one more had followed. This needs to be a team. Frank caused many of the problems with dissention in the way he ran the program. Crouch, Evans, Incognito being more important than the program caused this effect. I will be glad when all malcontents are gone. Callahan seems to be recruiting kids with character. It is to early to tell that now. But I feel his strategy is to get the best kids, not only football wise, but accademics and morals. I think in the next three years we are going to see a tremedous turn around in overall attitude on this team. BC will not recurit quitters and if they show up, they will be gone. He will not allow the tail to wag the dog. JMHO
  24. As I read the comments here I tend to think some feel we have improved a tremendous amount. That is not a proven situation yet. As Dave said we need to see some games played. Making predictions of an easy game against a team that lost to Va Tech and FSU last year by a total of 9 points and in the last minutes of the game is out there for me. This team has a year of experience, should be stronger and quicker and know there system well. This is a very young team also. Would anyone want to realisticly guess the score of Nebraska against VaTech and FSU last year. I sure would not. But I would bet it would not have been anywhere near as close as Wake played them. This is a much tougher game than most think. I hope I am the laughing stock of the board and we bury them by 30. I just do not think that will happen. Too early in the season for our kids to be all on the same page, too many new faces in the line up. I think if we saw them mid season I would totally agree we should roll them. But this early and with their past record of play I am very worried about this game.
  25. Cory is a Husker through and through. I tis not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog. We have a true warrior in Cory. If he had the surrounding cast that some before him had he would be mentioned with the very best of Husker backs. I truly admire him and his undying efforts last year for this team and program. He is what evey parent wants their child to grow up like. Loyal, dedicated and will always be Husker to the bone. I love the kid and he is my favorite running back of all time for Nebraska. He may not have the talent of Ahman or the ability of some of the others but he has played when times were rough and the competition was much better than what we put on the field. An All American Pipeline and a top QB for three years this kid could have been very special in all eyes. For now I am just glad I got to meet him last year and will always follow his career. Cory you are the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
