I learned that words cannot express how horrible our offense is. We have no QB and Rhule’s decision not to do everything in his power to keep Casey Thompson is coming back to bite us. Our defense got us our last two wins in spite of our offense. We cannot keep winning if our offense plays like they did today. If Rhule does not see that Satterfield and his offense are inept, then he is blind. Nothing about our offense is working from coaching to OL to QB to running backs. I know we suffered a lot of injuries but guys were dropping passes and passes were horribly thrown and many play calls were sad and pathetic. A fan in the stands could have called better plays than satterfield did today. The only thing in our favor is that the BIG West is pathetic all around.

There's no question the offense is bad.  But you should have realized how bad it was a month and a half ago instead of just coming to the realization now.  How is this still surprising people?

Look, I'm a fan of Casey, but even if he tried everything to keep Casey, Casey would still be the injury case he's always been and we'd very likely still be rolling with Haarberg.

How are you evaluating the position coaches? I understand that the “easy” way for people to think they can do it is production of that position group. I would argue that no layperson can evaluate the effectiveness of a position coach.

The output from, say,  offensive line and receiver positions have been about what you should expect if you hire position coaches who haven't demonstrated they know how to do the job.

I get that Rhule has done this at other places, to varying degrees of success, but he has the resourses to hire the best position coaches money can buy now, so there's really no good excuse.

Of course people are going to be more skeptical of the more questionable hires.  It's kind of on those coaches to prove the skeptics wrong.  So far I don't really see that happening.

Might as well shut down the message board if laypeople can't have opinions.

  3. Wild people can get themselves worked up about the offense every week.  We know going in to every game the offense is going to be lame.  It's an easy prediction to make.

And it's like maybe 2% Satterfield's fault.  You'd suck too with this roster and questionable assistant coach hires/retention.  Rhule did him no favors by making several headscratching decisions.

The single biggest recruiting move under Rhule so far was of course bringing in Sims. Like, by a mile. And really, he hasn't even played two full games for us yet.

But holy s***. You look at his film from Georgia Tech and it's just like, why did these guys bring him in? What were some of those final meetings like where they made him the offer?

For me it's just a really terrible start to this thing. Again, I'm saying a terrible "start." Totally believe Sims could come out against Illinois and light it up and save the season. But amidst the abject clusterf*** that is NIL and the conversation around NIL, our QB position is the focal point.

That's why the conversations about Ricky Haarberg's throwing motion and those kinds of things are a headscratcher.

And, Casey Thompson has explicitly stated he never wanted to leave Nebraska.

I'm not accusing Rhule of deliberately sabotaging the season to make future seasons looked better by comparison.   It's not like that's been his gimmick his entire career or anything like that.

  5. The problem with boasting about "top 25 recruiting rankings" all the time is they mostly consist of 3-star players who aren't very good.

Recruiting (still) needs a gigantic boost, and I (still) feel anyone who disagrees isn't watching the on-field product at all.

Is his tongue "thing" a nervous twitch?

Cocaine addiction in most cases.  The way he talks during the little in-game interviews is highly suspect as well.  He basically transforms into Jack Black's character in Tropic Thunder during football games.

Our more recent suckitude does not make the Callahan years the least bit more palatable.

Sure it does.  It seemed bad at the time, but we now know it wasn't nearly as bad as it seemed.

Would Frost have been fired if he had Callahan's track record?  Not a chance.  Because that kind of outcome is far more palatable now.

Don't forget an occasional CCG too.  When he was at NU, I absolutely despised him, crazy to think he is now the "good old days".

A top 5 recruiting class is unthinkable at this point.

I thought my grandpa was crazy when he said he thought Callahan deserved more time after he was fired.  But for a guy who lived through the 40s and 50s version of the Cornhuskers it makes perfect sense.
