The defense has been a joy to watch for the most part. Just a scrappy group. Kinda expected Colorado to do what they wanted all day but the defense held them in check for half the game.

It's all part of his plan to cut the football program like he did in Omaha, so he can give the stadium to the vollyball team.

They didn’t. It’s just more fun to say it like that.
Thompson was out for the spring. There wasn’t even a guarantee he’d be ready this fall. So they wanted to bring someone else in. Thompson didn’t like it and left.
I don't remember it being particularly controversial when he left. I was disappointed, but also knew he's been an injury case, so didn't fault Rhule too much for bringing his own guy in.

Going from being abysmal for 15 years and a 1-win season last year to 7-5 team in one year would be a huge achievement - something which our current HC has never achieved.
Maybe the worst 1-11 team of all time.

Couldn't disagree more. Sanders flipped his roster and it worked to start the year. I'm not so sure his "coaching" is the reason for their success or simply attracting some quality skill players who are exceptional. We stopped ourselves more than Colorado stopped us today.
You could disagree more. You only listed reasons Sanders is a better coach. You could have disagreed a lot more, actually.
We agree Sanders is better at acquiring talent and better at getting them ready to play. There's nothing we disagree on, really.

You know, I used to laugh when N used to have their first game against the University of the Pacific (they no longer have a football program and barely did then). But Coach Osborne used those games to have uncontested layups at game speed so things like fumbles were less likely to happen when running the option against tough opponents like Oklahoma or Miami. Even in the NFL defenses start faster than the offenses. Minnesota and Colorado are not FSU or Georgia, but they are not FCS either.
We all think Sims should have been pulled at least at halftime. But he wasn’t. However, you can’t compare Colorado as a typical first year coach experience when he brought the quarterback with him, and it is his son. They are probably on the same page.
I was wondering in fall camp when Rhule kept talking about about 1s vs 1s, iron sharpening iron and all that if maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the offense kick the s#!t out of some freshman walk-ons or something for a few practices. Get their confidence up.

You know it's bad when we're already talking about a "slow rebuild".
Colorado kind of put that line of reasoning to rest. In the portal era especially there's no such thing as a slow rebuild. That's a loser mentality.

I don't see any improvement from the team that beat Iowa. We may even be trending the wrong way. White is clearly better than Chinander, but so was Busch.
Insane 72 million doesn't buy you better coaching than a makeshift coaching staff.

There should be major questions about Rhule’s eye for talent. He admitted he had no idea Sims led the country in turnovers when he brought him in.
That's a thing that happened in real life.
Didn't he have a bunch of his dudes from Temple playing for him in the NFL? lmao

Colorado just faced one of the toughest defenses they'll see, and still put up 36. They're going to cook this season. What an insane turnaround from last season. Their AD understood the assignment. Keep him on the short list.
Disappointing Nebraska's offensive line wasn't able to take over the game against that defensive front. Such a sad state of affairs for a program that used to pride itself on having the most physically dominant offensive line in college football. Raiola is a complete hack and Whipple was made the scapegoat.

Sanders is a significantly better coach, and anyone trying to tell you it can't be learned from one game is trying to gaslight you.

We should have hired that Colorado coach at less than half the cost!

The Blackshirts are great again! The offense might be the worst I've seen, though.

Imagine getting shutout by this defense...
Have Rhule or Satt ever had a good offense in their careers?

Defense needs a pick 6 and the backup QB needs to be ready.

I got banned by Mavric for calling out Sims. Let that sink in.

What's funny is Rhule got paid waaaaay more than Sanders. What a genius snake oil salesman!

Don't blame Sims. Rhule hand picked him. It's the eye for talent we ought to be concerned about. Almost as bad as Frost!

It's hilarious that Rhule didn't even do enough homework to know Sims had major turnover issues.

Yeah you're right, petty much lights out until then. That 13 points was mostly on Sims anyway.
