You remember the last time Husker fans wanted to get rid of a coach who had 15 wins in 5 years? When was that?

You just admitted to being more happy that a Nebraska guy is the coach than you would be being a decent football team. Weird priorities but if that's honest to you then kudos I guess. Can you give me an example of any other time for any other program ever that wins eventually came after 5 years of averaging 3 wins per year?

Osborne won 9+ games a year. Osborne beat bad teams, and he also beat good teams too ('72 Notre Dame ranked 12th, '73 UCLA ranked 9th, '74 Florida ranked 12th, etc. etc. etc.). Osborne won championships. Osborne went to bowl games.

I was raised in it too. Doesn't mean I'd be a good head coach. You were obviously raised in it too. Does that make you qualified to be the coach?

I'll ask again. Can you name me any coach in the last 80 years of football who had 15 wins in their first five years and was a really good coach?

Comparing the league back then, the conferences, and rules; let alone the fanbases, social media, NIL so many other tangibles that cannot be extrapolated for a fare comparison. BTW you know exactly that is not what I am talking about. I'm talking with the firing hysteria, and this incessant privileged winning attitude. I'm old enough to remember when the fanbase didn't complain after one loss in a season online anonymously.

100% of other blue blood programs would've shown Frost the door last year or the year prior

75% of P5 teams would've shown Frost the door last year or the year prior

There are many things to call out about this program that could stand improvement, but fan support or lack thereof for Frost isn't one of them.

We all (at least the vast majority) wanted this to work out and the majority of us still do.  At some point though, reality comes into play and there isn't always storybook ending.  Its deflating this is where we find ourselves but at some point you need to show results when it comes to big business which husker football falls into.

Understood, but I'm just saying "with friends like these..." after one game you know? Just think fanbase is being disloyal and overreacting after one game with a bunch of new guys and coaches. It's like if we curb stomp Oklahoma and fans won't even remember this Northwestern game. FWIW IMHO

You don't mention the firings of Callahan and Riley. Why? Because their firings were justified since their records sucked?

Frost is worse than both of those two, by a long shot.

The Frost experience is an experiment that had to happen, but it just hasn't worked out.

Not at all. They weren't Native Sons, nor did they try to understand the fans. Scott was raised in it. He knows it.

I was thinking about this: I wonder if he was maybe so surprised that we weren't blowing them out at halftime like we were last year that when we got up by 11 he felt like he had to go for the blowout or it didn't count.

I really don't think it's that deep. Just think we played a crappy second half. They'll figure it out by Oklahoma.

I've been a loyal fan since 1970 when I was in the 8th grade.  I've been there for the highest highs and the lowest lows (Brook, Miami 83).  I've earned the right to be critical of where we are in this 5 year experiment.   I was all for and excited for Frost's hiring.  I never thought it would backfire this badly.  It is time to move on.  Should have done it last year and set the new coach up for success for this 'easier schedule'.   Yes, we save millions by waiting past Oct 1st but there is also the cost of apathy and national perception that has to be considered.  From a financial point of view it makes sense to wait, from a fan point of view, it is torture to go through this again.  Let's open up the bank account and get a proven winner who can set us on the right track long term.  Time to do it.

This has been said with literally every coach we've had since Osborne so, seems more personal sentiments than factual.

I have found it refreshing to see fans speak up early.  It's not like we didn't hear a large volume of "coachspeak".  The bloviation continues at an alarming pace.

It would have been far different if Frost was stating that the players aren't working hard, don't seem ready, etc.  The reality is he sells massive improvement and then squander a lead with his same miscues.

He will still get his 4-5 wins and nestle in nicely into a 4-8 or 5-7 team.  He will probably be the 5-7 team of all-time if history repeats itself.

    Go Big Red.

The more i think about it, the more i see there are more and more decisions that were his fault that lead to the problems we have been having.  Alot of that does seem to be arrogance he has, thinking he can somehow outsmart coaches who have been in the game alot longer than he has.  He is still very young and needs to learn, either we ride this with him or boot him out at the end of the season and start over.

I agree with alot you said. At least you're not throwing him under the bus just yet. BTW I'm in Victoria doing shows alot. We should hang!

While I agree the knee jerk reaction from this loss is a bit overblown (Northwestern is probably a good team this year) it's not just the first game of the season that has caused it. It's a body of work for 5+ years, and basically the worst resume in Husker coaching history.

Frost has earned every ounce of this. He needs to find a way to win and win big the rest of the season. He's basically where Harbaugh was at last season. Native son can't save you from 5+ years of s#!t. It doesn't take that long to turn a program around and this is his last chance.

Again, I just think it's funny that Osborne gets a 20 year pass with a fluff schedule. But Frost gets belittled and crucified after 5. I get it, you all want Barabbas.

No, people wanna throw the loyal coach away after 45 games, 15 of which we've won, over five years.

Five years - zero bowl games.

Five years - two wins against teams with winning records.

    Five years - 5-21 in one-score games

Five years - 30 losses, most of which are the results of acts of self-sabotage by our head coach himself.

Can you name me one great coach in the last 80 years of football who had 15 wins in five years?

Be careful what you wish for. I'm old enough to remember what happened that last time Husker fans wanted to do that. I'm a Ride and Die loyal homie to a Native Son. I feel they should be given a modicum of more honor and respect. You got our poor QB out saying stuff to the fanbase after one game for this incessant need to "return to glory".  I'm more happy that we got a Nebraska guy at coach and AD. Something we had been lacking since Osborne IMHO. Wins will come with that foundation. I guess I have more patience than you all.

It's like you already have a pretty girlfriend, but then you see another pretty girl and you want her too.... then you hook up with the second girl and the original one leaves you, but then down the line you realize that the original was the better of the two. That's my concern.

No simping allowed. Men do not think like that bud.

Really? That's the epitome of classlessness? So not forcing off underperforming recruits (before it was prohibited by NCAA) to the point of having an entire extra recruiting class every four years, SEC bagmen (before paying recruits was okay), and the other stuff was acceptable?

Honestly, this era of SEC "dominance" should have a big fat asterisk next to it, not unlike the Home Run records in the 90s. Because it's artificial AF.

Yup. Spurier had to eat soooooooo much crow after that game. Until they won the NC the following year.

What's funny is that the 96 Florida team won the NC the year after we boat raced them, and the 98 Tennessee team won the NC a year after we boat raced them.

Bro, are you originally from Texas or something? I am in agreement with you, and do not understand your retort. I was saying Nick Saban was classless for playing the quarterback late with a minute left. There is plenty to rag on with him, but again I have no earthly idea what you are insinuating.

  12. Why I hate Alabama is Saban's classlessness. I mean a minute left, no timeouts and still trying to run plays. C'mon man. You could've hurt the QB's ability to play in the NFL. STUPID!!! You lost, just down the ball, get it over, and say good game. I remember Nebraska being in the red zone at the end of games and Tom just had the QB keep kneeling.  Even Tom knew when we were beat and let the game end. I call Saban not doing it, not being able to have class. It was about as bad as what a Longhorn fan would do.
