  1. Some good points made on Hardy and Brooks....How huge would that be to have a receiver or receivers who have the ability to make a play after the catch? Guys that make the juke or quick cut and gain positive yardage or even break 'em wide open for TDs? Would be a serious compliment to the stable or running backs the Husker will have.
  2. If you notice, Forde has Miami listed twice. What are the odds that Oklahoma is supposed to occupy one of those rankings? I don't put a lot of stock in polls this early, but nonetheless it is encouraging. How bout two of our opponents; Texas Tech and Pittsburgh at #16 and #23 respectively? I think they're both beatable....but I think Tech will be the tougher opponent. I'm in the camp that says we're not in the Top 25 until we win at least three or four games....but if the pundits like what they see this Fall and coupled with the fact that we had a great recruiting class this year, who knows?
  3. I agree...what's done is done. It's time to look forward to the future, be patient, and wait for the success that is going to come our way. We can dwell on the past all we want, but it isn't going to do any good. This staff in my opinion has taken steps to help this team be successful with it latest recruiting class. Until proven otherwise, I think we should be supportive. It is still waayy to early to say this staff hasn't done a competent job of returning the Huskers to glory.
  4. Good post...While things have looked fairly positive this Spring, it reminds us again that the Huskers have some hurdles to overcome.
  5. Share who you think the wins and losses will come against. I'm optimistic....I said 9-2 with wins against every team except for Texas Tech and Oklahoma. We win the Big XII North and go to a bowl game.
  6. It's a shame that its come to this (if it is in fact true)...but I wish Joe Dailey the very best. The reality is that he just didn't blossem into a prototype WCO quarterback. I think that is what we all wished would happen for him, but it didn't. I hope he transfers and finds great success in another program that will be happy to have him and that he can be successful. I like Joe and wish him the best! One thought does come to mind about player dissention in the program. And I only bring this up as a Raider fan (yeah, that's right...the Raiders..lol). Player dissention occurred between the Raiders players and Bill Callahan. In fact, it got ugly. I hope and pray this isn't the same thing beginning to rear its ugly head. I remain supportive of Bill Callahan and the rest of the coaching staff, but I think it's something to keep an eye on...
  7. With an improved offense a much improved defense could certainly help put the Huskers back on the track to its winning ways. Let's hope that we see improvement on the defensive side of the ball as well. Would it be exciting to see the dominance we enjoyed in the 90s?
  8. I agree...I don't think Beck redshirts. Not enough depth at QB to afford us that luxery.
  9. While like most of you I was ecstatic to see Zac Taylor's numbers during the Spring Game (20-27, 357 yds, 3 TDs) but I think we need to exhibit some cautious optimism. Things are going to be better in 2005 but we have to remember Joe Dailey had a great Spring Game last year as well. But currently we don't have tremendous depth at QB and if Zac were to get hurt, we could find ourselves in trouble. Enter Harrison Beck....if he has a great fall practice he definitely could help provide depth. Additionally, the defense remains questionable. We still need depth in the secondary. We have some talented defensive guys coming back and some good additions with Steve Octavien and others. The receiving corp showed during the Spring Game that if you get the ball to them they are very capable of making big plays...very encouraging! It looks like the running back stable is full with Cory Ross and Marlon Lucky. I must admit that I'm still not sold on Coz as a defensive coordinator but am willing to see if things improve this year. If the defense can produce we could have a very good team. Let's remain cautiously optimistic and hope for a great Fall practice. I'm looking forward to the addition of the new players coming in. An 8-4 or 9-3 is very possible.
  10. It appears Zac Taylor is the starter, followed by Beau Davis, Joe Ganz, and Joe Daily has fallen to fourth string. The incumbent Joe Dailey came into this off-season perhaps the favorite, but come the spring game, the rotation is going to be a lot of new faces for the fans. Quarterback coach Jay Norvell said that Zac Taylor would be starting the game with the first unit and in the second half, Beau Davis would go with the first unit. After those two, Joe Ganz is the number three quarterback with Dailey coming in at fourth. Here is the link: nebraska.scout.com One of the obvious questions I guess I have is "what happened to Jordan Adams?" Did I miss something?
  11. Let's discuss these guys...some great memories! The choices go deep into Husker history so share your thoughts and memories.... I went with Mike Rozier, but as a young 9 or 10 year old, I.M. Hipp provided some exciting moments.
  12. The so-called "greatest college football fans in the country" booing a college kid?....Makes me sick....I cannot for the life of me believe we are booing college student-athletes! Shame on the Husker Nation for a classless and disgraceful act which does not reflect well on the fans.
  13. Hi Everyone! I am a proud Husker fan since age 8. I'm 42 now. My family left Nebraska when I was only an infant, but my father (God Bless him) raised me on Cornhusker football. I always felt it was one of the greatest gifts he ever gave me. I grew up in Los Angeles and after making my homecoming visit to my hometown of Fremont 33 years later, I felt cheated of being raised in the greatest state in the country. While I grew up elsewhere, I AM A NEBRASKAN and my heart will always belong to my homestate. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? A: Since age 8. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? A: My father 3) Where are you from originally? A: Fremont, Nebraska 4) Where do you live now? A: Everett, WA 5) Favorite Husker memory? A: It's a toss-up...Winning the national championship against our 80's nemesis the Miami Hurricanes in 1994 and Clete Pillen's recovery of Billy Sim's fumble on the Husker 2-yd line in the closing minutes of the 1978 OU-NU game. His fumble recovery preserved the Husker win. 6) Worst Husker memory? A: Toss-up too...Turner Gill's pass tipped away while going for two and the national championship during the 1984 Orange Bowl or Penn State's win in the 1982 match-up and the "extended endzone" call by the refs. 7) Number of home games attended? A: Fullfilled a lifelong dream in 1998 by attending my first home game. I'll never forget it and want to return again for another one. 8) Number of away games attended? A: Two...Unfortunately my first was Troy Aikman and the UCLA Bruins dismantling of the Husker defense in Pasadena in 1988 and the Huskers win in Seattle against the Washington Huskies in 1997. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? A: I love all of my ballcaps...I wear them with great pride. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) A: Obviously, my first pick would be anywhere in Memorial Stadium...heck I'll take the nosebleed section...just want to be with "family." My second choice would be The Lucky Seven Bar & Grill...the watchsite for all Husker fans in Washington State. 11) Favorite all time player? A: Boy..that's tough but if I had to say it would either be my childhood hero Johnny Rodgers or more recently Brook Berringer. Brook embodied everything that is Nebraska football--class, sportsmanship, hard work, and a willingness to do whatever was best for the team. He was a class-act and he is still sorely missed. 12) WCO or Option? While I prefer smashmouth option football, I think defenses have gotten quicker and are finding ways to defend the option game making it more difficult to win with it. I always wanted Nebraska to mix it up more so I'll have to side with WCO. I would like to see our strong running game preserved and the tradition of having great Husker running backs preserved. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? A: Steve Pederson 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? A: It's gotta be Herbie Husker....Lil Red's a little on the cute side for me. 15) Favorite Husker play? A: There was nothing like seeing an option pitch go 80 yards for a TD especially if the pulling guard laid someone out and the receivers took out their man. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? A: Red beer 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) A: As mentioned earlier, I can't remember...sorry!
