  1. Sure former, shoot your mouth off again. Now Callahan is responsible for poverty, recruiting impact freshman with a quarter of a year of recruiting, and probably hell in your eyes. Bullucks and Washington both left for the same reason. There families are poor and they want to get a contract so that they can move them out of bad neighborhoods and get them out of bad money situations. If you didnt notice, Daniel is still here, because both him and his brother wanted to play for Callahan, but in was imperitive that one of them get a contract. Oh, and Callahan has recruited thirty players in ONE year. We shouldnt even have that many schollies to give away. Your standing on one peg leg here man. The facts dont back you up. Frank left us in this recruiting hole that you speak off, and Callahan has recruited a nationally recognized class that features not one, not two, but three DB's to fill up the hole left by Frank and poverty. Nice try former
  2. Update on Tebow. Rivals had a teaser article that said that Tebow is considering Nebraska alot closer than most people think, and that they are near the top of his board. This could get very interesting with Cate, Freeman, and Tebow, who many consider to be the top quarterback recruit in the country, entering the fray. Thoughts? Comments?
  3. I for one have never booed anyone on the Nebraska football team. Those guys sacrifice life and limb for our entertainment, and all that they deserve is applause when they do well, and compassion when they dont. Now those guys from Colorado on the other hand.....
  4. heck I will play. I might be a bit younger than some of you guys, but you need someone to keep up with the other college kids.
  5. In what way did Bill leave the team thin at those positions? Last I checked, almost 98% of the scholarship players on the team right now were either signed or recruited originally by Frank. Sorry if Bill didn't recruit enough Jucos to fill the needs of the team. I thought he had enough. Less walk-ons only gives the ones who make it onto the team as a walk on more chances to get the attention of the coaches and try to earn a scholarship or some PT. P.S. who blocked and who returned that punt against Mizzou last year? I believe they were walkons Former.
  6. while i agree with you kramer that he would be a nice pick up, he won't be a five star player and he isnt our highest priority player at that position, much less our whole recruiting class. Taylor Mays is the obvious choice for head of the class at safety, and is as close to a sure fire recruit as there is in this class.
  7. I love Brook, but no. Tommy is the best Nebraska quarterback, and no one could have truly replaced him, but Brook came pretty close.
  8. He said he was 90% sure, he has camped here and will again, and taylor is only here for two years, and what top notch program doesnt have at least a couple of heralded quarterbacks. He will be N.
  9. I voted twice. I hate those bandwagon USC fans. You know that none of them were fans three years ago. Oh well, if truth be told, Notre Dame should win, but screw them too.
  10. You left off bowman, who i would have voted for, seeing as our pass defense was so bad and bowman is gonna leave early and be a top ten pick. They guy is really really good. If you havent seen video off him yet, please do. It's sick.
  11. I think that mizzou has a better chance to win it than ISU. I have them picked in the bottom half of my big 12 north right now. Face it, if we win seven, we probably win the north, and we have ISU at home. Nebraska, Colorado, and Mizzou will finish ahead of ISU
  12. Player: Ryan Tolar Hometown: Pasco, Washington Position: Offensive Tackle Height: 6'6'' Weight: 325 40 time: 5.8 Visit Date: Oct. 7 (Texas Tech) Scholarships offered: Arizona State, Cal, Michigan St., Wash, Wash St., Nebraska Favorites: Nebraska, Washington Rankings/Stars:NR Rivals: NR Bid Red Report:NR/ Assessing the talent: Very big man who takes up alot of space and is adept at pass blocking. Good quickness, but not fast enough to be a dnynamic run blocker at this point. Has great technique with his hands and is very strong. Could contribute early due to having a physically mature body and his great pass blocking ability. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10%, went to the same high school as Leon Jackson, but I havent heard anything about them being friends. He is also being recruited heavily by the Pac-10, and if USC gets in on it, it could be tough. He does list Nebraska among his favorites right now though.
  13. I am proud to report that the trend that TO established has continued under Bill. I am a current student at the university, and I can say that I have never seen a football player miss a class, ever. There was also an article about the "dirty" practice that players had to partake in at 6 in the morning if they missed class. It sounded brutal and was full of even more stadiums. There is at least one great tradition that remained. Way to go TO, way to go Bill, and way to go Tulsa to realizing that there is more to life than winning.
  14. I notice alot of doubters on the later part of this thread, and you have good reason to doubt after a 5-6 season, but here is why i see improvement. 1.)There is a question mark at the most important position on the field in quarterback in that we have an unknown in game situations. Many will argue that he is not played against this kind of talent, which is true. My optimism in the matter comes from actually seeing in person what he can do compared to Dailey in the spring game last year. It is true that both played against vanilla defenses with no rush and poor coverage, but, Dailey completed 27 of 47 passes, and the throws that he made, even to wide open wide receivers were often off target, especially on deep throws. Taylor, on the other hand went 20 for 27, and none of his deep throws were off target. He is a better thrower than Joe, that is for sure. Whether or not he can play well in a real game situation is the question, but i hope that he will, and the amount of talent we have at runningback should give him alot of 8 man fronts and man coverage to work with. So here is my prediction... Maine- W Wake Forest- At home, comfortable W Pittsburgh- At home, less comfortable W Iowa State- At home, Should have beat them by thirty last year, W Texas Tech- At home, we score more points, but d isnt good enough, L Baylor- Away, they are fricken Baylor and we killed them last year, W Missouri- Away, Brad Smith can't throw, should still have the steak in tact, W Oklahoma- Home, Crowd keeps us in it, but we arent there yet, L Kansas- Away, Another team that can't throw, W Kansas State- Home, could have beat them last year away, W Colorado- Away, Barnett is gone by this time, turmoil, W I guess that comes out to nine wins, and that shall be my prediction. Call me optimistic or whatever you want, but I would rather be optimistic than feel miserable before the season even starts, Go Huskers!!!
  15. how many 1000 yard rushers did Solich have????
  16. your kidding former, right, about the academic non qualifyers. That is what Solich filled his class with in order to make it look decent because he could only get fifteen guys. As far as the borderline guys in this group, Lucky comes from a broken home and has completely turned his academic career around since his sophomore year. Jackson has also shown great improvement in the latter part of his career, and there only hunter looks like he has ground to make up to qaulify. Suh carries a high GPA and will be an engineering major, Congdon had a perfect GPA in high school. Brooks came here for academics, Taylor brings a high GPA, and Callahan has stressed the importance of academics since he got here. Swing and a miss to you. I dont mind dissenters. i dont mind people who think pederson has done a bad job, or that frank has been treated poorly, but i do mind quitters. This school is not a restaurant. I dont watch the games because we win everytime. I watch because I know that this team represents something more than winning. In the deed the glory, and that has not changed one bit just because Solich is no longer head coach. Go jump on some bandwagon and find a team that you can cheer for until they make a change and start losing, and then maybe you will be back here again. until then, talk to ya later.
  17. Im personally a fan of the twelfth man down in A and M. I like the fact that they all seem to be very knowledgeble and supportive, even when they arent very good. They never give up, just like we dont, and i applaud them for that.
  18. 40 times can be deceiving, especially for big guys. He could be real quick, or possess tremendous, run stopping strength. It's not often that a DT has to run 40 yards. There is a reason he has all of these offers.
  19. As far as Lydon Murtha goes, I know him personally and I have to say that I am unimpressed with his work ethic and his motivation. Everyone on campus knows about his stupid scooter accident. (by the way, his scooter is about two feet tall, he looks like a clown) Whenever I talk to him, it sounds like he is more concerned about how awesome he is than getting on the field and playing. Hopefully he will change, but those of you who are riding on him holding down the LT position for the next three years, dont be surprised if he falls short of expectations.
  20. You almost have to rate Nebraska up there with the swamp and LSU and Autzen after looking at those numbers. To go through a 7-7 record and a 5-6 record and still be in fifth, wow. Go Husker Nation!
  21. Just a small correction, his last name is Paulo, just in case you guys wanted to look at him on rivals or scouts.
  22. I have heard similar things from other recruits. All of them received a strength package that gave them some pretty strict nutritional guide lines and a work out program for their position, and many of them, including Lucky, Beck, and Congdon have said that the program was really helping them. Lets just hope that it works on Barry Cryer, Man that guy is funny looking in an awesome way, you just wanna give him a hug or something!
  23. 1000000000000000000000000000!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Lol..... Facts Indiana. I laugh. You make the most rediculus arguments I have ever heard. You make sweeping broad generalizations such as that Solich is comparable to Devaney, and when I give you facts, you call it hearsay. I dont have to be a division 1 coach or administrator, or whatever you want me to be to ask simple questions to myself, such as why didnt Florida, or South Carolina, or Washington, or Notre Dame, or Arizona, or Army hire Frank. It is not hearsay or conjecture or opinion to state that these places passed on Frank in favor of someone they thought was better. What, are you asking me to believe that these programs dont hire the best possible coach, in their opinion. What criteria do you think they hire on, an anti-Frank criteria, because that is what you are saying.
  25. Yes, Callahan got started as an O-line coach, all though he was a quarterback when he played, and he has always identified with the guys in the trench. His apptitude towards the O-line showed last year when he was able to take guys with mediocre talent and switchovers from defense and turn them into a decent O-line.
