I completely understand and agree, but don’t forget that AM’s feet saved as many sacks as his hesitation gave up. He made line look better than they were at times. They were not good.

Are you drunk? He caused so many sacks himself it was infuriating.  Scrambling when completely unnecessary and then fans blaming the O Line was one of his greatest skills.

People need to get a grip.  Bob Stoops under no circumstances will ever be our coach.  He's 61 years old.  Financially, he's set for life.  Then, there's the little nugget where we fired one of his best friends.  Bob Stoops may very well coach again, but it will never be at Nebraska.  Chris Petersen resigned a couple of years ago.  He's a guy that I don't ever see coaching at this level again.  He may very well never coach at any level again.  Urban Meyer more than likely coaches at the collegiate level again.  It may be as early as next season.  However, it will never be at a school like Nebraska.  He wouldn't even take his dream job at Notre Dame when offered opting for Florida.  Why?  Zook was a horrible coach but a great recruiter.  Florida was absolutely stacked with talent, and this was before the SEC was the dominant conference.  He went to Ohio State when the B1G wasn't exactly dominant and Ohio State was absolutely stacked with talent.  If he coaches at the collegiate level next year, my money is on USC.  The Pac 12 is down.  They don't have any dominant coaches.  These are the opportunities he jumps at.

If we're being honest with ourselves at this point in time, there's almost zero chance Trev's got his homerun hire in the bag.  He hasn't even been the AD all that long.  He might very well have a list or is composing a list right now, but this is as far as he could be.  I don't think there is any way he was hired with the expectation of replacing the head football coach in his first year as AD.  Unless Frost resigns, I can't imagine him not being here next year.

People posting those names should be locked.  It's so ridiculous and adds nothing to the actual discussion.

It still has room for improvement but take a look at our 2018 game vs Michigan vs last week.

As for Minnesota, when the team finally woke up in the 2nd half they moved the ball fairly well but did not score enough as we are used to seeing.

Do you really think the physical strength of the 2021 team is not better than the 2018 team?

    Nope

Whoever Nebraska could hire next, there are a couple things Frost has done well that will help out the next coach.

    1. Our physical team strength has improved over the prior 4 seasons. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the mental strength/toughness of this team.

    2.  Frost has had continuous top 25 recruiting classes though I realize this years class is not doing as well yet.

Lol no you just got your stuff pushed in by Minnesota.  We aren't stronger then anyone.

  5. Please for the love of god change the playlist, everyone that went to Oklahoma said they had an awesome sound track and kept the crowd involved the entire time.  Hopefully we have learned that the stadium experience in 1995 is not attracting people anymore in 2021.

One of his best games today. Made good decisions, played calm and in control, hit big plays, and DIDN'T TURN IT OVER.

My main concern with him has been game management, and he did that well today.

All of this on top of having pretty poor O-line protection.

Did we really do a good job game management? Hell yea we did

Nebraska still has a lot of work to do.

But a lot of teams struggle.  And a lot of "lesser" teams are a lot better than people want to give them credit for.  If you don't play well, you're in trouble.  That goes for about anyone in the country.

We are not even through the second full weekend of the season.  And so far we've seen:

Tulane take Oklahoma to the wire

Fresno State take Oregon to the wire

    Montana beat Washington

Florida State take Notre Dame to overtime then ...

Florida State get beat by Jacksonville State

Colorado take Texas A&M to the wire

Toledo take Notre Dame to the wire

I like this take, and seriously we beat that a$$ today.   Like we physically dominated a team.  The defense is pretty freaking good.  You got them into 22 3rd downs? That's ridiculous

I wouldn't call the special teams at this point terrible. We've had two missed XP, two gaffs by a punt returner and returns not getting to the 25. Kickoffs have been going into the endzone, no big punt returns, no big kickoff returns. We've made fgs.

    Like you have one ball?

 You definitely give 4 craps everytime Pelini’s name is mentioned.

You must’ve really hated the Osborne years if you don’t like the stoic “librarian” demeanor.

And there is a big difference between “wanting” to win more than 9 and actually doing things that would achieve that end. Bo was firey for sure but the targets of his emotions were usually misplaced.

Please tell me more about your terrible take

  10. 8 minutes ago, JJ Husker said:

Oh, Pelini, yeah I’d definitely say he hit his ceiling at Nebraska. He seemed to be more than satisfied with his 9 wins and was not interested in doing anything to exceed that. In fact he got downright belligerent about any more being expected.

Sorry, I thought the discussion was centering on Frost and our current problems.

Yep in seven years he hit his ceiling JFC.  He went to 3 title games.  That doesn't happen by accident or for not wanting to.  His emotion after losing should tell you are completely wrong in thinking he didn't want to exceed that.  This BS we have going on right now with no passion from the valiant leader and Eore the quarterback is ridiculous.

Guess what it's also boring and sucks as a fan to watch.  It's supposed to fun, it's supposed to be exciting, it's supposed to elicit emotion from the fans and players.   If I wanted to watch a liberian coach I would join a gosh dang book club.  I don't give 4 craps about what anyone says about Bo, at least I thought his team's had a chance and he cared about winning games.

Of course it is optimistic because those seasons were good!

This weird idea of "games that mattered" is how crazy people think about the seasons.  Do you know why there were "games that mattered?"

BECAUSE HE GOT THE TEAM TO THOSE GAMES!

When your team sucks each season there are no big games.

End thread this is the most correct take.

    Yes, it was.

This is the same stupid narrative.  Bo was stagnant, couldn't get over the hump.  He had to change his whole effing defense for the big ten.   The same idiotic arguement for Frost as he needs to have 4 years to get his guys.  If that's true then the former os true.  And Bo had gotten 5 NFL defensive linemen that were big ten appropriate.  Unfortunately we weren't allowed to see how that played out.  I don't live in some fantasy land were Nebraska is in a better place now (hasn't sold stadium out this year, losing more and more in state talent, apathy, ect) then it was under Bo.  It just isn't true.

  13. 1 minute ago, macroboy said:

@locountry I'm with you. I thought his 2003 season was good enough to earn him another year....but at best he would have had a run similar to Bo's. 9-ish wins. Big game losses. Unranked season finishes.

It was time to move on from both.

The coaches hired after them were worse. That is the real issue.

We have fallen low enough that both of them look better than what we have now.

Hopefully Frost gets it figured out bc/ I am starting to think that if he can't we will never really be able to get back to the kind of relevance I grew up with.

    Absolutely not

I strongly disagree and am pretty sure you’re wrong.

Certainly the on field product may have lost some viewers but not nearly as many as you claim. Switching from PPV games to readily available for anyone televised games is certainly what has made the biggest difference in watch site viewing.

There are plenty of fans in this for the long haul. I know this to be true as most of us on this board still schedule our fall Saturdays around Husker football. Yes it will continue to decline if the results do not improve but only full generation gaps has the possibility of turning it into Kansas football. Don’t assume your threshold  level is the same as others.

He has clearly never worked in bar, the PPV games were always the most packed.

Fine by me. I’m perfectly content not watching movies in a theater (save for Alamo) ever

Well there's is a reason it isn't opening back up, it sucked.  Food sucked, drinks sucked.  For supposedly being a better movie experience, it was awful all 3 times I went.

Running out of patience with the cranks on here who continue to actively not read or understand posts about statistical rankings and choose instead to counterargue points no one is making and operate in bad faith. I have never seen a post suggesting things are all-good because of our SP or EPI or FPI ranking or that those don't ultimately need to translate into winning games. People are excited about them because they show things might not be as bad as internet rando crybabies on this board like to suggest.

I prefer to go by wins and losses but hey to each their own.

    1. I think our recruiting rankings show we have better talent than the MR era which was inherited. 2. We are going into the year young due to attrition. 3. Guys who no longer wanted to live up to a higher standard on and off the field and guys who refused to stay and win a job outright. 4. Some others just didn't have the talent and needed to go.  Some may have lost faith in the system due to all the close losses.

No, I do not think this is a perpetual point of argument but it is now.  SF had a monumental rebuild when he came because of the failures of the past coaches and administrations.  Even so, I do find fault in SF.  He needs to change his offense to suit the Big 10.  We must have a power running game to win.  Period!  I am confident that will happen.

    1. Massively debatable

    2. Completely on the head coach

    3. No one knows what you're talking about

    4. We lost to Illinois at home and got smoked, last part again no one knows what you are talking about.

    5.  Failed administration before you have nothing to do with still being a horrid football team in year four.  Quit trying to pin Frosts absolute disaster of tenure here on anyone.
