AM is a great player going through a slump.  As a current coach, I completely understand sticking with him.  Hopefully at some point in the future, AM will realize his full potential and all of our fans will understand.  This is about the future everyone.  It sure stinks to watch right now though. GBR

No yesterday was about yesterday, not some point in time that hasn't happened.  You need to win the game yesterday.  It's gotten to the point where people are devaluing the importance of every game, and it's just tired.

I’ll say it.  What the hell have the Davis twins ever done?  Two of the most disappointing players in recent memory. Why have they locked down starting DL positions without ever producing anything?

KD is pretty good my man, you can't have a good pass rush when the every receiver in the 8 yard area is open

I saw more talent at the following positions.

    OFFENCE

    QB

    WR

    TE

    OL

    DEFENSE

    LB

    DE

Additionally, there QB's were great at spreading it around, of course when you have 10 minutes to sit back there and throw, good things will happen.  Oh, and they are playing mostly underclassmen

Our quarterback had 27 minutes back there and still couldn't throw it like an adult

Even with his struggles he's still bounds better in these regards than Taylor Martinez was, and nobody had this kind of criticism for Taylor. Your own expectations based off how good he was last year are what are making you throw him under the bus now.

That is not true in the slightest

If Frost is calling plays he needs to give up those responsibilities right now.  We have all these lateral throws and screens which are going nowhere, and first and goal from the 2 and not a single rushing attempt to pound it in.  Has he forgotten the power game and turned totally into a finesse coach?

When Frost makes comments about players on the team just being OK, and not really caring about being great, players not being dialed in, Wandale Robinson having to call out upperclassmen for not buying in, is that not a reflection on Frost and an inability to inspire and relate to his players?

Second, are these players starters? and if so, why are they starting if they are not bought in? I know Riley and Eichorst left this program in crumbles, but at what point do we question if Frost can motivate his players? I have not seen it, it seems like the older players don't like him.

Yes it is a reflection of him

    Explain

He always won 9 games and competed for 3 titles and wasn't let time to change his players to the big ten, after he had made a pretty ruthless defense against the big 12.  And yes he would have a better team right now.  I can't say his name because he was apparently awful.

Who's the coach who would have us winning 9 this season? I'd like you to point them out. Also recruiting rankings don't mean much with the attrition we have seen

That could win 9 games right now...... hmmm they probably would have had a way better team but that's besides the point.   Even with attrition, just another excuse for you talent excuse people, we still have more star players!  We have more stars on the field then Minnesota, Colorado and Indiana.  Still you will fall back on talent, which we have more of.

It's fun to be demanding with no authority, right?

Those recruiting rankings don't mean squat two or three coaches later, and when half those recruits are gone.

What did anyone demand? Just making up things that were never said, like usual

All of those coaches failed for additional reasons besides the "type" of player we had on the roster. Callahan wasn't a college coach, plain and simple, and didn't fit with the culture/DNA of Nebraska. I think Callahan is a really good coach but his system didn't fit here. Bo Pelini is a great defensive coordinator but not sure he is high level head coaching material - even if he paired himself with an offensive genius/guru I don't think he had the managerial skills. Similarly, his defensive/peso system he developed in the Big XII didn't translate to the BIG. Riley, like Callahan, didn't fit with the culture of Nebraska - both guys could have success on the West Coast I believe.

Frost needs time. He's trying to blend the speed elements of the spread with power football of old Nebraska. If we don't give Frost at least 5 years it will be difficult to lure the coach we need, let alone any coach who isn't just looking for a pay day (Riley) to Nebraska.

No one said anything about getting rid of anyone.  Nothing at all in any of that, I am allowed to have concerns in game 20 about the simplistic aspects of football that aren't being done, that I feel should have already been corrected.

JoJo Domann had some pretty pointed comments on the Carriker Chronicles on Wednesday:

When ask how he would grade their season so far JoJo said “I’d give us a C.” He went on to say

“We’re proficient. We know how to do our jobs...” “We definitely have that next gear that we need to hit as a unit, and that’s going to come with guys filling out, guys being committed, guys being dedicated day in and day out, not just excited to put on the Nebraska uniform on Saturday to run out the tunnel. Guys that are about the process and guys that love football and are hungry, and once we have guys like that, the sky’s the limit.”

You read that right... “And once we have guys like that...”

The culture is worse than we ever knew and it is going to take time to cleanse. People need to slow down with expectations, including (especially) myself. 6 wins should be the goal. I had hoped they were in a better position to be successful, but hearing that there continues to be a buy in problem from a player that has heart is gut wrenching. Get those who don’t care the he11 out of there.

No absolutely not, that should not be the expectation.  I don't ever expect a team who is more talented to get crushed 34-0 by Minnesota.  It's unacceptable.

Secondly, this is the exact same mantra we here by everyone each time there's a new coach, get Callahan's losers out of here because they don't know what Nebraska was about and we will win titles, get Bo's "toxic" (which was BS) dudes out of here for this great genius who has never won and we will win titles, now get these Riley dudes out of here because they don't love football and won't play hard and we will win titles.

The constant circle of that is infuriating, you need to get what you got playing better then they are playing right now.  Our little recruiting rankings say we should beat these guys, making into some it's some players vs other players on our own team excuse is tired.  If that even is possibly true then it's failure in that aspect of coaching.

And PJ Fleck announced after the Minnesota game exactly how he game planned to beat Nebraska.

He said he didn't believe our LB would be disciplined in their fits.

I'm pretty sure the rest of the coaches on our schedule wrote that down.

I'm pretty sure that is evident to anyone who watched any game this year

This happens every year to every team.

The college football experts considered the players who were returning and concluded that Frost's 2019 offense would be even more dangerous.

    They don't play forever?

I guess I’m in the minority here. I don’t actually expect to see improved play when we plug in the freshmen. They will get meaningful snaps while preserving their redshirt (win-win) but they will make mistakes and commit penalties due to inexperience. Based on statistics others have shared, we literally can’t get much worse in some areas so I don’t expect to see a big drop off in play either. Do most of you really think that the younger players have been outperforming the upperclassmen in practice but the coaches haven’t played them because they want to preserve their redshirt? I’m just not sure.

    Correct

My mind keeps going back over to the thought we are a year and a half into a rebuild and we have people already thinking about getting rid of Frost.

Again this is a rebuild and we have so many who have zero patience for that rebuild. Once most got through the fluff and kool-aid, we have seen our glaring holes. Some of those holes are at positions that can’t be fixed easily very quickly, namely offensive line.

I think by year 4 things should be coming together much better. We would be talking all Frost recruits and recruits developed under just this staff. It may be year 5 or 6 when we become really good though.

You go back and see such coaches like Bill Snyder and Barry Alvarez where it basically took until year 4 before they really took off program wise.

Sure those two inherited horrible programs but I think if you go back and look at the end of Riley’s regime, things were actually becoming very bad. So no Frost may not of taken over program that had been in despair as long as those two but it wasn’t a good situation at all.

Bill effing Snyder.... seriously that horrible comparison

  16. 3 hours ago, I am I said:

    I see this two ways:

    1. The freshman he listed just haven’t been ready enough to totally burn redshirts, but they can at least see the field since we aren’t 6-1 and on the cusp of the West.

    2. We need 2 more wins to bowl and other than that we are playing for next year/future.

I take 2 more likely. This season we need a bowl but other than that, let’s let the younger guys play and just move forward. Frost May be confident enough on two more wins and just wants to go bowl and start next year now.

I guarantee this is not the case

    Wow...I like that.

This is a clear message to the upper classmen.  The last few games you haven't been cutting it.  You're going to lose your job to a younger player if they show they are putting the effort in and you're not.

So why wasn't this instituted in training camp?  Or before every game or at every single practice? Shouldn't even need to be said

Cool that's great! Guess what you can't go lose to Minnesota at Minnesota like you are a division 2 school trying to collect a check.  You don't want this kind of criticism, then don't look like a bunch of punks in game 19.  I don't care if it's 160 freshman, that was an unacceptable game and all of the criticism is warranted.  People keep trying to redirect the criticism.  Every single time Nebraska gets on the field it's important, and it sure looked like our team didn't think it was that important.
