Then this is just irresponsible journalism. He wrote a head line that makes it sound like the support for Frost is waning and stuck it behind a pay wall.

Because he asking a question?  You can ask all the questions you want after your team with more "talent" goes up Minnesota and plays like FCS team getting a check to play.  You can question how we don't have better kickers or can't find one when high school teams in the state have better kickers.   You can question when the coach says we will be competing for the league title in 2019.  You can question why in the world he is answering questions about the bye week before it even happens, and watching your team look like that's what they were looking forward too.  You got guys continually playing awful that continue to stay on the field.  For f$#%-)s sake you got a guy habitually punching people in the face!  I doubt the discipline is that great on this team, both mentally and responsibly wise.  I doubt he likes making a player feel bad by taking him out.   All I read on these message boards is that the blowouts under frost would stop immediately, that wasn't the case, whos to say there isn't doubt.   Sure looks like the players doubt themselves.  Martinez, Washington, ect.

If any of these things doesn't raise a little doubt that's great for you, doubting and questioning isn't saying you don't think he's the correct coach.   You all want to crush on the media who is an integral part of the machine.  But when they question the coach it's the same from you all more time more time rebuild rebuild.  Sorry it doesn't take time to not go get freaking boat raced by row the boat guy, that's not OK, it's not acceptable, and if what you saw on Saturday doesn't raise a little doubt in some areas then I have no idea what you were watching.

I stated before the game that win or lose, the result of this game won't be as instructive as the results of other games this year.

As a program, Nebraska is 26-29 in their last 55 games. Ohio State is 53-6 in their last 59 games. Nebraska is trying to pull itself out of a funk created by inept coaching and dismal recruiting. Ohio State is transitioning its program from one of the best coaches and recruiters of all time, but is always supremely-talented. Justin Fields made Ohio State so much better than the team that scraped by Nebraska 36-31 last year. This was a mismatch.

Anticipating this game and getting hyped for what it could mean was fun. But, honestly, we had more chance of winning the Powerball than beating Ohio State and thinking of the possibilities of winning was very similar to imagining what you would do with your jackpot winnings. Nebraska didn't win tonight and they looked awful. But they were playing Ohio State - who is going to make a lot of teams look awful.

What's more instructive, and what will matter more, is how they play next week against Northwestern, the following week at Minnesota, against Indiana after the bye, and at Purdue the week after that. Those are the teams that, Nebraska will beat if they're as talented and well-coached as we think, and those are the wins that will signal a step forward from last year, albeit not as big a step as we want to take.

Then another chance to prove ourselves will come when Wisconsin makes their way to Lincoln. Then another opportunity when Iowa visits on Black Friday. There are a lot of games left to be played, and the West is still left to be won. As a program, Nebraska is no further back than we were at the start of today. 48-7 hurts, as it should, but in the grand scheme, it's virtually meaningless. I hope the coaches and players learn what they can, focus on getting better, and move on to the next game.

That is not true at all, every single game means something.  That is a terrible fan attitude and what has kept this program relevant in our own state is the exact opposite of that.   Every single play matters every single week.  Makes me half sick that this is an actual take.

Right, I'm sure you could nail a 17 yard throw rolling out with Chase Young on your heels. Only a qb as fast as Martinez gets the throw off anyway, Young was closing in. It was not a good throw, but it's not a pick against most DBs either. It was barely behind Robinson, not a lot of corners have the burst to get there cleanly.

I never said I could, but he should have that's what he is here to do, and it was open, you can't do that if you want any chance.

After that first botched kickoff return out of our own end zone by Robinson, he started fair catching each kickoff in the first half even if it was in the field of play.  While that may have been smart because our blocking on kickoff returns was terrible last night, doesn't that just show that this team is afraid to make plays?  Every big game it's just a total deer in the headlights look.  That was a very small part of the game, but I felt it symbolized what was going on as a whole.  A team that just doesn't have the want or desire to make plays.  And if that's the mentality we have, then no wonder we get stomped out by each decent team we play, and that's why we have these late game collapses in close games such as NW last year and Colorado this year.

It was our best offensive play the entire night man

Do we stop to think that maybe this isn't the case at this point in time. What if, and this is just an assumption that our head coach knows what TF he is doing when he watches practices and such that any of the backups aren't performing well enough or he doesn't think they would preform well enough to make a tangible difference.

Say Luke or Vedral starts and this same crap keeps happening the excuses would be, oh he's just a freshman just wait, and Vedral he isn't used to being the starter. Then we would call for the backups again. Let the coach do his damn job and stop making the backup QB a celebrity when it doesn't warrant it.

I dunno Sam Keller syndrome pops up sometimes in these situations.  I think you needed to get the other guys in after it went into the 40s.  I'm not saying a change but sometimes you need to give them a reality check.

Put Tom Brady behind this line and see what happens.

He would have completed the first pass that's was picked, it was thrown like a high school pass

Nice one! While Grundy has had a few good ones, and sports a mullet, Mike Leach is a gem in every interview he does. He’s my favorite head coach other than Frost of course. The mad hatter is another good one

A few good ones? He told a reporter he shouldn't be allowed on the press call this week.  And the guy said thanks after he got roasted.  It's hilarious

I saw that view the first time.. I dont think he gave good effort. He just stuck his arm out while he had his other arm on the rec.  He could have gone low with his shoulder or tried to grab a leg.  Instead he just sticks his arm out.  He had a lack of effort just like this on one of Illinois other scores.

He has about 2 of those a game, he doesn't like to tackle in the open field.  It looks like on actual blitzes he doesn't mind, but he did not make great effort on those particular plays.

Oh fer sure. The sellout streak is in serious jeopardy. Didn’t lose it through Callahan, Pelini or Riley but now, now we’re having a tough time selling tickets.

*that’s what I get for clicking “view this post anyway”.*

I'm assuming you don't have tickets and 5000 emails that came this year encouraging you ticket holders to buy more tickets.  Keep trying

  11. 23 hours ago, 84HuskerLaw said:

I doubt seriously that Ohio State got 10,ooo tickets from UNL for this game.   If there are any games that would sell out even in a 'tough' sell market (I don't think NU tickets this year were all that hard to sell), so Ohio State fans would have to be scalping them in addition to their allotment of a few thousand at most.   If they offer enough money, I am sure some Husker fans would take hundreds of dollars but that will be hard to tell since they wear red as well.

The fact we were selling non season ticket holders 3 ticket packages and single games seats to the public.  Nebraska is not having the easiest time selling the stadium out.

It just makes me cringe. I think this list will change dramatically over the next 4 years. Maybe we'll crack the top 15 or just outside the top 10 of most valuable teams. Winning of course usually takes care of it.

Our average will increase now that we are full share

It's funny, because this Colorado game reminded me of Bo's 2012 team losing to UCLA in Pasadena in the second game of the season.

It's funny because this Colorado game reminded of Scott Frosts Colorado game last year, or the rest of what I have watched of him leading this program.

It stopped the clock with 55 seconds left and Illinois had no timeouts. If you don't stop the clock you can run the entire play clock down on 4th down and essentially no matter what you do  Illinois has at best has a couple seconds 70+ yards from their endzone to maybe run one play, though since the failed pass to Janovich on 4th down took 10 seconds off the clock there is a good chance the game ends on that 4th down play.

Keeping the clock running, using the entire playclock and taking a 5 yard delay of game penalty also means you can kick a 32 yard field goal and if there's any time left the game ends on a squib kick.

Look no one is arguing the stupidity of the ending, but in fact kneeing would not have ended the game.

I thought this would be about bonehead plays from the Riley era. I would go with the byu hail Mary that started the misery off, or when Armstrong threw the ball against Illinois late with the lead when kneeling would have won it.

It was 3rd down, kneeling would not have ended the actual game.  Mike called a play in formation they never ran from in practice.

That changes things quite a bit.

If you bet $100 each on the top 3 of Nebraska, Wisconsin and Purdue to win the west you could profit:

    Nebraska 110 + 300 - 330 = +80
    Wisconsin 110 + 350 - 330 = +130
    Purdue 110 + 400 - 330 = +180

If you bet $100 each on the top 4 of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota to win the west you could profit:

    Nebraska 110 + 300 - 440 = -30
    Wisconsin 110 + 350 - 440 = +20
    Purdue 110 + 400 - 440 = +70
    Minnesota 110 + 475 - 440 = +145

It looks like you have a good chance of winning some money and bad luck if Iowa wins it.

If you bet $100 each on the top 5 of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota and Iowa to win the west you could profit:

    Nebraska 110 + 300 - 550 = -140
    Wisconsin 110 + 350 - 550 = -90
    Purdue 110 + 400 - 550 = -40
    Minnesota 110 + 475 - 550 = +35
    Iowa 110 + 500  - 550 = +50

    Good chance of losing money

Or you could not bet on Nebraska to win and eat the loss if they do.

    Wisconsin 110 + 350 - 330 = +130
    Purdue 110 + 400 - 330 = +180

    Minnesota 110 + 475 - 330 = +255

    Wisconsin 110 + 350 - 440 = +20
    Purdue 110 + 400 - 440 = +70
    Minnesota 110 + 475 - 440 = +145

    Iowa 110 + 500  - 440 = +170

This is why I don't bet.  CFB is too unpredictable to bet on a single team and risking $330-550 to win relatively smaller amounts doesn't seem worth it.

For not betting that's pretty in depth handicapping.  I would never spend the time to write this out, but people should really read this, probably the best post I've ever seen.   Before people place any bet they should be doing this analysis.  It's similar to betting on early line, having it move and bet the opposite to try to hit a double.
