They still cancelled before they were forced to.  You can't tell me Frost would have made the same decision.  Win or lose the game, getting on the field in 2020 is a win.  22 wouldn't necessarily guarantee a red/red by the way.

That doesnt mean Frost always looks at things logically. H seems to be more shoot first ask questions later type.

Plus its not the coaches call, its the AD's call.

If Wisconsin saw the writing on the walls and cancelled because they knew there were others who could get Nebraska players sick, then I commend the move.

Wisconsin is a petri dish and while I am pissed the game got cancelled, that was clearly the right move with how many additional positives have come out of that program.

Yeah. I think it's pretty clear they had no choice but to cancel the Nebraska game. All we're being given are the positive numbers. I'm guessing they have a lot more folks unavailable due to contract tracing.

Ya. This notion that they were scared of us or cancelling just because they didnt want to play with their 4th strong QB seems a bit laughable when you see this thing blowing up.

I am annoyed with Wisconsin but would have been far more annoyed if they played the game and we had a few guys get it because they didnt follow procedure.

I really hope so at this point.  IMO they deserve that for cancelling a game they didn't have to cancel.

I think with them getting to 22 before Saturday they would have had to cancel it.

Seems like they cancelled early knowing they were going to eventually hit red/red and did it to start their clock but also give Nebraska a chance to find another opponent.

I was critical of them cancelling early but they clearly knew they were going to hit red/red.

I am just shaking my head at all this talk about voting lines and how tough and inconvenient it is some places. JFC, it doesn't have to be difficult. Is Colorado the only state that has it's sh#t together in this regard? Y'all need to force some major changes in your state if you have to go stand in line for more than 30 minutes. Absentee....Mail-In......early voting, ffs.

I did it this year and it was awesome. Got my ballot in the mail, voted, put it back in the mail and checked to see it was accepted!

    Agreed. 1,000%.

It's an anachronism that has little relevance today.  And presidential elections are the only elections we use such a system.

End it, make every vote count, and let the popular vote winner win. THAT is a representative republic.

Does anyone smarter than me know how they would even go about doing that?

My guess is republicans would block it at all costs.

Just seems crazy to me that Hilary won by almost 3 million votes but lost electoral college by 74 points.

I get that states like Nebraska, Iowa and other swing voters with small populations would get forgotten but still just seems silly.

Agreed. While typically younger voters would seem to indicate they'll vote Democrat, I don't think anyone can assume that in this case.

We'll have to wait until all the votes are counted. But at least more people are voting.

Still think it is time to do away with the electoral college. One reason some people dont vote is they think they cant flip a state they live in.

I would prefer more of a national election where most votes win.

F*** them all. How about Nebraska and Ohio State get together and start their own conference. Screw joining some other s#!t show. Reach out to Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas State and a handful of other schools and start out as a small conference 8-10 schools. Set things up the way we want it. No whiny, baby schools allowed. Expand when we can get good brands and schools that want to be team players. IE no schools like Michigan and Texas allowed.

Now this would show some real balls.

    Good lord.

This cant be real, can it?

  8. I understand the game just goes down as cancelled, but wouldnt it behoove the conference to put teams feet to the fire a bit and if after investigating they found your teams lack of following procedure caused this and therefore it must be counted as a forfeit?

I understand crap happens but the fact 12 people got it when no one had it on Friday when they tested makes me think they werent following procedure.

This kind of crap is what will get the season cancelled.

Hopefully no one from Illinois got it since they had close contact.

Curious if Wisconsin can play any of their next 2 games with the 21 day policy. Clearly they wont have their Starting QB, 3rd strong QB and coach if the 21 day policy holds.

I actually started writing that very thing in that post and then deleted because he's not even on the team anymore. I really think you're right.

The whole thing really starts with good blocking though, IMO. The bigger the holes there are to run through, the easier your backs see 'em and run through them. But it's definitely both things at the same time as well.

Some of the better running backs are the ones who can get a quick first step and attack the hole instead of getting cute. Obviously you have to trust the hole will be there but getting cute and dancing around only allows more time for 2nd level guys to get there.

  10. I honestly think this team starts to turn a slight corner. But this year is sooo goofy, I dont know if that will equal to wins.

    Ohio State - L

    Wisconsin - L

    Northwestern - W

    Penn St. - L

    Illinois - W

    Iowa - L

    Purdue - W

    Minnesota - W

4-4 would be a success in my mind.

You have to win the 3 games you can win/ NW, IL, PUr.

Iowa/MN/WI could all be potential wins if our offense can be explosive.

This could also very easily be a 1-7 season.

  11. I am voting Biden/Harris. I dont love Biden as a candidate but still would take him over Sanders.

I was a fan of Pete but he wasnt ready. After he dropped out I was all onboard with Warren but at this point I would vote for democrat candidate just to see us move on from Trump. I have voted for both parties in the past and while I lean Liberal, I would not have a problem voting red.

At this point I think the damage has been done by Trump and I dont see our country unifying any time soon. It seems like you are either Red or Blue...

I don't doubt this based on their bylaws. 60% vote needed or 9 schools to move forward.

Looks like NU, Iowa, Wisc., Ohio State  , Penn State, Purdue, and Indiana are in.

MSU, and Maryland are out according to sources. Making that assumption right now.

Illinois,  Northwestern, Minnesota, Michigan , Rutgers are ???

No idea how this will go. If they vote no , then I see a major $hit show of angry fans from the schools who want to play and some lawsuits to boot.

If I was guessing on pure speculation:

Vote yes to play: Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois

Vote no to play: MSU, Michigan, Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern

Deciding vote comes to MN and it seems like they have been leaning toward not playing.

When they announced the shut down Fleck and the Gophers played good boy and said they fully supported. Not sure if that was just to show conference unity or a directive from the upper brass at Minnesota.

  13. With everything going on with Covid, I just cant imagine how hard it is for these guys.

Not only are some of their family fighting this nasty thing but losing jobs as well.

If he isnt sure if he will play, why not try and go back home but stay on scholarship and do classes remotely for now?

Either way, I hope things work out for Keyshawn in whatever he decides.
