  1. How would you like to end the recruiting year getting Cooper, Carnes, and Owa??

    after reading that line.

    :laughpound:laughpound

    O that was great.. i was wondering where you were going with that...

    Huskerbruin is one funny guy.

  2. So, i am an idiot and was confused by the term greyshirt.. so i looked it up and decided to share my findings with those who are confused.

    Redshirt/Greyshirt

    While both recipients of grey and red shirts attend classes at a school before participating in football games, the difference is in the player-to-be's time of enrollment:

    Via John Mackovic of The Desert Sun: "Grey shirt is a term used to designate an incoming freshman who waits until the second semester to enroll rather than the fall. College athletes are allowed a five year calendar to play four seasons. The calendar begins once one is enrolled. By waiting until the spring to start college, a player will be playing his last season in the sixth year after high school rather than the fifth. "

    In contrast, infoplease.com explains that "When a player is given the "red-shirt" designation by his or her coach, that means he or she has participated in a college's academic year, but did not participate during that year's sports season. Most likely a "red-shirt freshman" in college football is a sophomore in college who practiced with the team his first year, but did not play in any games (at the coach's request), or was seriously injured during his first season." By redshirting, a player gains an opportunity to learn schemes and techniques, rehabilitate an injury, learn a new position and/or physically develop without losing a year of eligibility.

  3. There has been an awful lot of attention being paid to future Husker Andrew Rodriguez by the fans and NE media. Andrew's early commitment to NU back in Nov of 08, his high star ratings, and now his invite to the AAA game have garnered him a great deal of hype to start off his Husker carrer.

    But despite this popularity and media attention, after I watched a little video of our recruiting class, I found myself wondering. Is it just me, or does Mike Moudy from Castle Rock Co look like a much better O-lineman than A Rod? At the very least a better tackle.

    Now I don't want to start a war about this, and I realize a lot of fans have already emotionally invested in Andrew and may see this as hating or disrespect. But I just thought A Rod looked like a slow and lumbering style of blocker, who doesn't always dominate the way you would expect a player his size to. Where as Mike seemed to have quicker feet, better body control, and IMO looks like a much more athletic prospect than A Rod does.

    I know I'm no expert, and there's no telling how both of these players may develop in the future. But I wouldn't be surprised if Moudy ends up maturing into an all conference type tackle for NU, while A Rod transitions to guard. What do you guys think?

    Idoubt A-Rod moves to guard. I heard on the radio he doesnt like guard and is not comfortable there.

    I ahve heard nothing but good things about A-rod when it comes to work ethic.

  4. I've read at various boards that Owa's mother liked UCLA because of the tight-knit Nigerian community in L.A. She also bonded with other parents of Nigerian student/athletes while visiting UCLA with Owa on his official. So apparently having a Nigerian mentor/community is important to her.

    His mom also probably liked UCLA because that school is freaking AWESOME!!! Okay, I'm a bit biased since that's my alma mater.

    ;)

    I would love to have gone to UCLA.................the cheerleaders alone would have sold me! :leghump:

    I AM TRANSFERRING TO UCLA :laughpound:clap

  5. Washington has it right:

    2007:

    @Syracuse

    Boise St.

    Ohio St.

    @Hawaii

    2008:

    @Oregon

    BYU

    Oklahoma

    2009:

    LSU

    Idaho

    @ Notre Dame

    2010:

    @ BYU

    Syracuse

    Nebraska

    @Oregon in 2008 was a conference game not a non-conference game. Washington has been pretty bad in the last few years outside of 2009, so is this really working for them>?

  6. Thats it! lets get a convo, drive to Oregon and show some husker love and sell this kid. If you come to NU on game day, and can turn down memorial stadium and all the red clad fans, you are insane(tunnel walk still gives me goosebumps)

  7. Carnes has been recruiting fellow teammate Ace Sanders to follow him to USF. Don't know what this means, but I wouldn't mind having both of them come in for a visit.

    Isnt Ace a RB?

    What is the news on ACE, maybe Brion comes here and Ace follows?

  8. It seems that if we up and moved the campus to oregon we would have this kid. If distance is the biggest problem im not worried. Offer to get her tickets to a bunch of games, and just sell her that she will still see her baby.

  9. He is wanting a spot with us. I really dont know if there will be room.

    I know it might eb wrong but we might need to look at pulling offers or asking guys to walk on. Getting depth at Oline would be huge right now.

    Agreed. What about the in-state guys, Evans and Cotton? Do you think they'd still be N if were asked to walk-on? I have a strong feeling that Cotton would be. . .I think he has ties to the team :)

    Ya, some distant ties im guessing :sarcasm

    I think they might be interested still. I feel bad pulling an offer, but sometimes you have to in order to win.
