If you thought the K zone was fluid last night, especially late in the game, you were right.

I felt like it was sort of hard to tell because of the camera angle, but to say that Umpire seemed inconsistent was an understatement.

I dont love blaming things on the ump but it seemed like he got caught up in the moment/crowd.

I can see the reasoning but I find it hard to believe they're going to pass up the paycheck.  I'm sure here and there but I'm not sure about wide-spread.

It seems a bit silly. If you have a player that is elite level at a high major, eventually he will be showcased and teams might come a calling.

If anything, I think you almost use it as a selling point-- We took a kid few believed in and then everyone came a calling.

Hopefully that helps our cause with Simeon. But I would put a decent amount of cash on Quaran never seeing the floor at NU.

You just never know. This seems just like the Elijah Wood situation.

I think if you have a guy who knows he wont see time for the first 2 years and is ok with it, it can work.

Quaran sounds like he had some talent but blew out his knee and then things went sideways.

I tend to agree with you, and these things dont seem to work often--- But no harm/no foul in trying him out I guess(other than wasting a Scholarship)

I don't recall saying that he'll cease to exist.  ;)

I'm curious if he'll still be able to shoot effectively going against guys that are 3-5 inches taller than him every night.  And more athletic that what he's used to facing.  And having to guard them on the other end.

I hope he does.  I'd just rather have my SGs be a bit bigger.

I think its a valid concern seeing that we have struggled to get the ball to wide open guys for easy looks.

That also being said, some of his tape shows he seems to have a bit of a "I dont care who is guarding me, ill shoot" and he sort of makes his own shot and has a pretty quick release.

Dont know if that is against guys more his size or how is speed will match up.

I just like the idea that he seems willing to sort of go "full steph curry" and shoot wherever.

247 didn't include the transfers in their rankings when they have us at 14. They only have 4 commits.

Ahhh gotcha. I guess that makes more sense.

If Edwards hadnt reclassified and we had just added him as a freshman, I think I heard we would have had a top 10 class. That is bonkers.

Sort of interesting that they include Edwards and Wilcher in the recruiting class when they were transfers.

I get they are just using their stars to explain fi they were new recruits(and Edwards basically is since he re-classified and joined in Jan with DePaul).

That being said, in terms of excitement, I really want to see what Tominga can do. I get he is smaller and questions about other aspects but some of his tape gets me excited that he will shoot from anywhere, has a quick release and seems comfortable shooting in weird spots.

McGowens is the prize of the class. I hope Edwards will be a good shooter.

Overall, these 6 guys could be program builders. Only guy I am so/so on is Kojents but cant teach that size.

Probably no Dosunmu for Illinois either.

Minnesota lost Mashburn and it seems like someone else but I don't remember who now.

    Dosunmu is gone.

Gophers are losing Marcus Carr(most likely), and also lost Gabe Kalscheur and Liam Robbins. I believe Brandon Johnson might leave as well.  They will be in a similar boat to where we were two years ago. Very few returning players and just a hodge podge. I dont see the Gophers being very good.

In terms of returning and adding new talent, we have to be near the top.

Still not sure if we can get it all together but it could be a perfect storm. Lets say we have this years team going into last years B1G, we might still struggle. But a weaker B1G and talented team who know eachother makes things interesting.

I am trying not to let myself get too excited but we should be one of the better teams in the B1G this year.

Obviously we would tend to be biased towards the Huskers.

But we seem to be bringing back the lion's share of our production (granted off a team that didn't win a lot of games) while other B1G teams are losing key pieces.  And I don't know what others are bringing in but I would doubt many have added the potential that we have.

We return five of the top six from the end of the season* in minutes played, top five scorers, top three three point percentages, top four three point makes, top four rebounders, five of the top six in assists, three of the top four in steals and top three in blocks.

We would seem to be in a great spot to make a jump in the win column.

*-discounting Teddy Allen who was obviously missing from the team down the stretch.

I agree. We brought in good talent for last season but no one had played together. As you stated, we now can have a few guys learning the offense while everyone else is just improving.

It will help to allow some really talented guys the ability to assimilate slower if need be.

That being said, guys like Bryce Mcgowens, CJ Wilcher, Keon Edwards should be key contributors early and then guys like Keisei Tominaga, Wilhelm Breidenbach can take time to warm into the system.

Its very exciting. I am hoping for a top 8 finish but if the team grows as they can and fixes turnovers/free throws, no reason they cant make the dance and win a game!

If he never would have reclassified its safe to assume Nebraska would have a top 10 class this year.

I like his potential and what he brings to the table- can defend, shoot, and get to the rim.

His semester at DePaul does not affect anything. Still has four years remaining and it is to be treated like early enrolling for football except he got to play in games. He also was going into a team with a solidified rotation.

Fred has himself some depth and can use a lot of different guys out there. This shows our PG depth must be fine as we were rumored to be looking around for one in the portal.

We still have one scholarship available to use if we want to. My best guess is that scholarship is used for next year since Kobe and Trevor already both have free years of eligibility.

I think they will have additional spots because still some rumors on Stevenson and Thor. Most think Stevenson is gone and Thor is weighing his options.

My guess is we still add one more transfer and then keep our eyes/ears open but as you said push those to future years.

This recruiting class is probably the best we have ever had. The talent is there. Bringing back guys who have played together is huge as well.

Now I am curious to see how it all comes together.

I'm no expert on handguns or tasers, but every police officer I have ever met has their gun and their tasers or any other equipment on completely different parts of their uniforms. Tasers and guns don't look the same, and I imagine they don't feel the same, either. I simply can't fathom not being able to tell the difference, especially for a trained officer.

    Correct.

The taser is usually on the non dominate side but facing in a way that you reach across your body to access it.

It is a completely different movement.

This Officer had 26 years of experience. There is no excuse to her using the wrong one.

  11. This is just awful. I feel for the Wright family and that mistake by the office is unacceptable.

My dad teaches police in this area for a living. I havent chatted with him, but there is a chance he trained this officer or for sure knew her(he worked in a neighboring town).

High stress is part of the job and not knowing the difference between a gun and a taser is high incompetence.

A man died because of it. Accident or not, she should be fired and probably face some sort of charges.

My other concern is the act of force. So they pulled him over for I believe a warrant? but I dont fully understand going right to a taser there.

Brooklyn Center is a very diverse city in the northwest suburbs of the Twins Cities.

My stomach is sick. Reminds me a bit of the officer who killed the Australian woman because he got scared.

I really like seeing this.  A really good big guy is something Nebraska has been lacking for a very very very very long time.

I dont know if I would call him good as much as unknown.

He has size which is a good start but he strikes me as someone who we wont see a ton the first year or two and hopefully he can grow into someone who will help us.

I assume he sees on average less than 5 minutes a game next year

I know this thread is about Smothers, so I don't mean to derail.  But the other day I was listening to 1620 in Omaha. I wish I would have listened to what Husker reporter they were talking with because he was really hyping up AM.  He was saying that his sources were telling him that Martinez is in a position to blow some people away this Spring and Fall.  He was going on and on about work AM has put in with throwing mechanics, strength, and speed.  He kept saying over and over that he wanted to "wait and see" but couldn't get over how confident his source was.

    I guess we'll see...

    Was his source Adrians dad?

I hope we see freshman AM again at some point. He has talent. Who knows if it was the shoulder injury or just between the ears, but something hasnt allowed him to make good decisions or good throws.

Seems like a good kid and has some good leadership abilities but the mental/physical stuff hasnt come together.

EDIT- I apologize for keeping the AM talk going in the Logan thread-- feel free to move or delete this since it doesnt fit.

    Lol

    played 18 games(started 17)/ 36.1 minutes--11.2 pts/ 7.7 assists/3.2 reb/2.7 steals

Not bad numbers for him. I wonder if he is going to try for a bigger program.

I do wish it would have worked out with Cam at Nebraska because he has a lot of talent.

Really, you know that it was Hoiberg who made the decision and not Woods.  Your guess is as good as mine, but there are a lot in players in front of him.  Young players do not want to sit, they want to play and I am guessing he did not want to ride the pine for another year.  Can't say I'm not disappointed.

hahahaha-- Ya, just keep singing this kids praises.

And yes, I am fairly confident Hoiberg showed him the door by letting him know he wasnt going to see minutes.

You keep knocking Woods and I don't get it.  He is a freshman with lots of talent that needs some time in the weight room.  When he is on the floor, which very very little its with walk-ons.

Seems Hoiberg agreed that Wood wasnt ready for this level
