  1. We have a chance. Would like it better if we had a fg kicker. Last week showed we have what it takes, to fight back.

This is a powerful OSU team. We have to play a whole lot better then last week. We don't match up with them in talent across the board, but we do have a hand full of players, that are just as good as any they have.

This will be their toughest test to date. If we can get up early on them, we could win it. Our team is playing 4 Q now.

  2. I think Frost knows how to build a top ten team, given time.

T O inherited a lot better team when he took over. He was almost let go in the lates 70's. It came down to winning the Bluebonnet Bowl, as far as what I can remember. What would have happened if that came to be.

Frost just needs a couple more recruiting classes, to build what we all want, a B1G championship caliber team that is in the hunt for a title most years. Frost inherited a very down and out bunch of kids that wanted to win, but just didn't have the coaching to do it.

The younger fans don't know what the glory years looked like, so I understand their frustration. Of course they have a right to ask if Frost is the right guy, just not in the second year two games in. Maybe in 4-5 yrs I could see their concern, if the staff can't get it turned around.

We have the right coach imho, just let it play out.

Need to be two deep at the O-Line at Nebraska. It irks me when we go after JUCO skill players. The immediate need is offensive line. Look at Wisconsin. They reload on the hog mollies. And they seem to plug in a 3 star running back who gets 1,000 rushing yards a season. Can't cover up the deficiency at OL for very long. Sooner or later a really good defense is going to make us look like a MAC school.

The o-line talent is in last years recruiting class. Frost is building it. He will get it fixed.

this isn't the NFL where you have a 52 man roster..............pretty poor coaching when they knew that  Barrett was not gonna be available   among other poor decisions the staff made,  this one absolutely cost them the game!

I would say it was two running plays into a stacked line and a sack in OT, that cost them.

I mean ... everyone would love to grind out 12 play TD drives.  But you know why almost no one does it consistently?  Because it's very difficult to do.  Too many ways for things to go wrong when you're counting on plodding for 4-5 yards every play.

I do remember Bo and Carl saying they did want the other teams to have to run that many plays, because it's hard for a team to do that with out turning it over, then giving up a a quick strike TD.

It's too early to question everything but I do wonder, for example, what Greg Austin was talking about when he said there's 12 offensive linemen ready to go.  I'm not sure if there's 5 at this point.

Also what was all that talk from the broadcasters about Verduzco overhauling Martinez's throwing mechanics this offseason?  If that's true he needs to go hack to what he was doing when he strolled on campus.

Your right he didn't seem to be able to drop anything in over the cb's . Everything was just a straight shot to a receiver. Let's hope our QB whisper {Verduzco}, hasn't changed what AM brought to the table last year.

I also don't think Frost wanted to show to much, for Col to get a good look at what's coming.

Col doe's have a very good QB and receiver, if they can get them open like S Ala did with their's, could take a shoot out to win.

  8. I think think we all know this will be the last year, we won't be ranked in the preseason.

We have a great schedule to move up the poll's, this year. 7 B1G teams rated above us. We get 3 of them at home. I like are chances.

As far as Iowa and Iowa St being ranked ahead of us, I don't have a problem with that. They had better season's then we've  had lately.

I've always had a soft spot for Iowa St. I Hope they beat Iowa and also win the Big 12.

let's admit that Urbs thinks he is holy but is really crooked. ;) this stuff is in the noise for him. So where does everyone think Urbs is coaching next? USC?

    ND?

His dream job was always ND, but I could see  him at USC in a year or two

Well it was meant tongue in cheek. But really, back in the day, if it wasn't too serious of a deal they would sort of look the other way. Of course it would be better if these guys were more careful and didn't seem to get caught so easily.

Back in the day they would tell you to park it, if you were drinking, and it better be there when they came back by in a few hours. If you were close to home they would follow you home, and tell you it better be there the rest of the night. Times change I guess.

Also, I believe the reason Tom had promised Frank the head job was Frank had an offer to be a head coach somewhere else a few years (4-5?) earlier.  Tom told him something to the effect of "if you stay until after the 96 season, I'll retire and you can be head coach" so Frank stayed.  After the way the 96 went, Tom asked for one more year and Frank agreed.  So that's a lot of why Tom retired when he did.

    :thumbs:thumbs.

Been waiting for someone to remember that.

  12. I think the Huskers need to score a lot, in the early going this season. Let the D get used to their roles.

T O's teams did that every few years, letting one side of the ball carry the load, till everyone got their positions down.

I didn't see much of a D at UCF to think our D/C can get it going here, but it looks like they are bringing in some good talent and coaches, that should give us hope.

Nothing to do now but see how this year sets us up, for a great run in 2020.

I just have to differ on this one.   Our defensive coaching is excellent and would be hard to find much better.   I think the challenge will be trying to hang on to our best D coaches who will be getting poached by other schools and or the league.   Give the Defense a chance to show what they can do this fall.   We will be better statistically and generally.   Our defense will win us some games this fall - I am quite confident of that prediction.

I hope your right on the D. I think that side of the ball, will make or break this season.

Except for the top 5 recruiting class, this guy sounds like OSU's Frank Solich.

Solich was asked to hang on to some coaches, he should have let go. Not all the problems were his own doing. I thought and still do, that he should have been given more time, to right the ship. He was no T O but, he was a deserving of a little more time.
