  1. I have been lurking on this board for a few years and really enjoy a lot of great posts and discussion so I thought I would join...A few things about me... I was born in Lincoln in 1966. ...and I thought just living in America was a punched lottery ticket, let alone Nebraska. My grandparents lived across the street from Bob Devaney for many years at 40th and C. My dad’s aunt (I think that makes her my second aunt) owned the Big Red Shop in front of the stadium from the 60's until selling it and retiring around 2000. For you youngins, where the Big Red Shop was is now a big parking garage in front of the stadium on stadium drive. Her nephew, my second cousin, was a walk on and played safety in the late 80s. He now lives down here in KC and I see him a lot. She used to allow the players to park for free in her lot and in return she would have them sign stuff. A few of my cherished items include a signed ball by the team in 1981, as well as a 94 team ball signed by Tommie Frasier and Brook Berringer. If you look closely at the 81 ball, you will see names like Rimington, Craig, Rosier, Gill, Fryar and Steinkuehler. My grandmother did the books for that place for years by pencil and paper! Can't imagine that now. When I was small, we moved to Iowa. I have fond memories of pheasant hunting on Saturday mornings and then coming back and listening though heavy static to the faint am signal coming out of Lincoln. I have probably been to, watched or listened to most of the games since the early 70's. I still try to get to a few games each year. Living in KC, I have the privilege of being close to a lot of road games (and their fans) as well as getting back to Lincoln. Nothing like working with KU, KSU and MU fans all day!!! Especially in the last 10 years! I love them anyway.... I look forward to talking Big Red Football!
