  1. I think most of us realize that the whole offense is an issue. But Lee is having trouble leading, doesn't seem to be gelling with his team at crucial times, doesn't excel at running the ball, and can't sell a fake. He is just too easy, even for weaker defenses, to read. And until Lee and Co. show some productivity, less penalties, and no fumbles... this will continue to be an issue and be debated. As I stated in my first post, Green, IMO, would be a great starter because he is a dual threat. I think it would be harder for the defense to read plays, and he has shown great poise. Plus, he's just excited to play and that enthusiasm is contagious.
  2. I believe he will do exactly that. but it has to be at the right time. a two point game ain't the time. lee is the starter. might as well get behind that and support him. Bo has said on multiple occasions that green isn't ready to start. I believed he would do that too... during every offensive struggle we have faced. Didn't happen and everything has remained the same. If the coaches are going to put in Lee, then that's their choice and that won't sway me from being a Husker fan. And obviously Bo doesn't think Green is ready to start... but give him a chance to take some snaps. I don't feel like I am beating a dead horse because this hasn't been my particular view on this subject, although a reality that I need to accept.
  3. If he doesn't plan on giving him a shot than why the heck did he burn his redshirt? Washington could have came in for mop up time against the sunbelt and you can always burn it in an emergency. I have no idea whether Bo plans on giving him a shot or why they burned his redshirt... But since the deed has already been done, then I think they need to give Green some play time. I would prefer that Green get a chance to start and see how things go, but it appears that Lee is going to remain. So let Green come in and mix things up when drives start becoming three and outs or stalling in the red zone. JMO
  4. I have to say I agree with Tim Griffin... If you don't want to start Green, then throw him in for a couple of snaps here and there to keep the opposing defense on their toes and give our offense a little spark now and then. And these would notably come at times where Lee and company are just not gelling. With Green being able to run and pass, he could be a great game changer when our offense stalls. It's worth a shot... And Watson really needs to let things develop. If our running game is going well, why try to change it with crappy passing routes?!
  5. I don't know if Pelini is trying to be a good guy, being stubborn, or trying to save some semblance of team unity. A lot of debates have been flying around about not risking injury to Green and having him play next year, breaking team morale, and not viewing a QB position as interchangeable position since they are the team leader. I have always felt that he was giving Green a "shot" to light a fire under Lee. Although, that really isn't happening. Lee did play better against ISU, but it was below mediocre from Lee and the entire offense throughout the whole game. No one seems to be on the same page. And the way the ISU defense picked them apart... I can't even imagine what they will look like against OU defense. A lot of teams have played back-up QBs, but it was always due to an injury. And I think that's the only way Bo would give Green a chance. I'm totally in favor of them starting Green. Let's see what he is capable of doing. At this point, it wouldn't hurt anything. But I don't see it happening.
  6. "Well, I have a cousin who plays for the Huskers, and he says that Green is ready to start... See how that works." I think your superiority complex on a Husker forum is beyond laughable. Whether you have a nephew playing there or in the know sources doesn't mean I care one way or another about your opinion... or that of a supposed family member. You have no credibility... as I don't. But, honestly, I don't claim too. I am in the general consensus that a shake up of the offense may be a good thing. It's not going to hurt us anymore than this extremely embarrassing performance against ISU. And using Green's performance against TT isn't even fair. He came into a huge deficit, felt the pressure, and made some mistakes. But how do you know how he would handle starting a game from the beginning?! If we lose, it would be no different than Lee leading the team. And although Lee was far from the only one at fault for our most recent loss, I don't think he seems like a good leader...
  7. I would like to see CG start against ISU. I think it would be the perfect game for him to get his feet wet as a starter. I think Lee is a great quarterback... for the SunBelt Conference. I don't feel that he can hang with the bigger Division 1 schools. In twelve quarters, he has only produced offense in one quarter and the defense handed him a couple of easy scores during that game. Lee is so indecisive and has no sense of urgency. This couldn't have been better displayed than during the TT game. The Huskers are down by a three touchdown deficit and he feels the need to eat up half of the third quarter play clock and some of the fourth quarter play clock... and it results in no score. All that time wasted for nothing. He wastes too much time in the pocket and instead of running the ball, he tries to roll out to the side or runs back and it results in a sack, a TFL, a possible interception, or throwing out of bounds. I know he can take a hit.. he's proved that several times with all of the sacks he has taken. If he isn't going to get it out of his hands quickly, then he needs to man up, lower his helmet and gain a few yards! But he has proven time and time again that he isn't willing to do that or doesn't have the natural ability to do that. He looks down the field and sees nothing and can't sell a fake if his life depended on it. Do I think all of the offensive problems lie solely on Lee? No. I think our OL has problems at times, the WR need to catch the ball!, and then penalties have to stop. But Lee is so stagnant on offense that nothing ever gets accomplished. Even listening to the press conference disturbed me. IMO, he feels a sense of entitlement to this position, but I don't think he has done anything to earn it. Green on the other hand brings a spark of life. It's obvious in his playing that he is still a rookie, but he makes a decision and sticks with it. He knows that when facing a huge deficit that there is a sense of urgency and that there isn't time to be stagnant. He's going to make mistakes, at times he will rush a pass instead of being patient, and there could be interceptions due to his lack of experience. But he is extremely positive and feels like this position has to be earned every day. He wants to get out there and play, learn and work hard, and his enthusiasm is contagious. CG is an excellent runner and IMO is a natural athlete that will excel in this position. And quite frankly, I feel like our offense needs a shake up. If it isn't the right decision at this time, then it will be revealed in the upcoming games. But to let Lee continue to start with how this season has played out is not in the best interest of the team, imo. I don't think that how CG played against TT is any way to guage him either. Even as a back-up QB, to walk into that kind of deficit, with the home crowd expecting to see something... that's a huge amount of pressure to walk into. Starting against Iowa St. will have pressure too, but at least he will be walking into a game where he doesn't have to beat insurmountable odds on the scoreboard. I don't expect either QB to be perfect... but I would like to see some progress. I don't want to see every drive down the field result in either no score or a FG. The Huskers have to get some touchdowns in order to win games. And with Big 12 North still up for grabs, I think CG is the best offensive leader to take us there.
