  1. I'll say that this is 1 rivals 100 guy I really dont want to land. I've heard that he wants to play his freshmen year & then go on a mission (he's mormon I think). Theres nothing wrong with that, but I want our staff to recruit guys whos #1 priority (besides school) is to play football for Nebraska

I disagree. I would love for every player on our team to have God as their #1 priority.

    Dont want mormons though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :sarcasm

    just kidding

  2. I dont see Ankrah moving to DT. Chase Rome will be treated as a DT from day one from what I have heard. But the coaching staff likes Ankrah at DE. Steinkuhler is the one who is going to have to step up and have a huge off season.

  3. You take a juco to fill an immediate need that next year as well. You add a HS kid when you forsee a need down the road.

True. But a guy with the skill Lavonte has is not someone you turn away, regardless of who you have at the position.

    Agreed.

  4. Not to mention that I am pretty sure that if Hill, OO, Cooper, Demien, and Gio all want to commit, the coaches will make room for them. Cotton's offer isn't precluding anyone from committing to the Huskers.

    This

  5. It's not true, there was some confusion about his friend wanting to wrestle at NU or something that got twisted into him wanting to talk to our coaches.

And if it was true do you think that he would just let everyone know his intentions? Look, Chase Rome rated his visit a "7" and then committed shortly thereafter. If Demien is interested in putting out some feelers, he can't exactly be forthright with his intentions while he is committed to another school. A couple of posters at HI think this is more than a call for a "friend".

im going to go with your story... its much more interesting that way.....

    lets hope its true

With Gabbert and Rome both saying that they are 100% committed now and actively recruiting for us this thing might have some legs to it.

  6. Its strange that a kid that is only a 3 star would drag his process out like this assuming all of these schools are going to leave room for him.

Anyways, I think this one is going to come down to in home visits.

  7.

Itll be really hard to sway him away from those heavy hitters

and the main coach recruiting him is DE coach JP

I would consider us one of those "heavy hitters" in terms of getting defensive players. The ones that we have committed are all very underrated.

Our program is a perfect fit for this kid. Him and JP have a very strong bond from what I have heard. I have had a good feeling about him becoming a husker throughout his whole process. I really hope that those feelings are justified.

  8. I think watson can be a good playcaller with the right QB, like ganz. So maybe if this kid is mobile like ganz was ( not fast or quick, just has the instinct to know when to take off out of the pocket) he will work our just fine.

    :yeah

Tyler is a very football savy kid with a great arm and is also a very firey competitor. I am excited about him.

  9. Any news on his visit yet? If he didn't love it, we are probably done. Recruits that we nab from USC and Florida are one in a thousand.

People that saw him said he was smiling the whole time, he was treated like a rockstar, Chase Rome and him hit it off right away, Suh did a tremendous job with him. IMO everything went right. Our chances couldnt be better.

  10. Rumor has it that Owa and Chase Rome talked the whole game. IMO I dont think that we could have asked for a better situation. Other than him coming for the OU game but that is besides the point.

    :bonez:bonez:bonez

dude i saw some pics of rome at the game.. he looks like a cross between some WWE wrestler lattimer from the program and some hippy football beast.....

    stoked! :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs

Haha. I guess that Chase Rome's dad is an Ultimate Fighting trainer, so maybe Chase is working on a backup plan in case football doesnt work out.

  11. Kenny Mack went the JUCO route and is at Fort Scott. He'll most likely be a recruit for the 2011 class.

    This.

Just from what I have read on other boards I ges the kid is a military brat and did most of his HS in Germany. So he will go the JC route for a semester maybe a year tops and be at NU.
