  1. Any updates with Bud? Haven't heard much since he said his top 2 are MU and KU. Now that both teams are struggling, I wonder if we creep back in his view. We might take 1 more WR, maybe.

Last I had heard was the our staff had kind of moved on in a sense. But with the termoil at KU you never know.

im over it.... this train is leaving for pimpville and sasser missed his chance to get on....

Amen. I really hope Austin Hill signs with us. I think he is the real deal. Hope he sees that NU is on a short road back. Expectations are high the rest of this year and for next out of this Husker fan.

its from my myspace.. lol dudes a super cool dude tho

    This is quite pleasing. haha.

To what nature was the "other stuff" he said? Can you give any hints??

  4. The only player I'd be interested in is Keeston Terry, the kid who decommitted from us a few months ago.

I wouldn't take Terry over Hill at all. Maybe as a safety, but frankly I like both safety targets right now better than him.

    :yeah

I would rather us put the full court press on Hill rather than waste our time on Terry.

  5. Well, I do think you'd have to account for a few other things.

The fact that 2 OL were drafted in the past NFL draft and a third who was a starter and was on track to a bright future (Jaivorio) is probably out of football.

The fact that we were pulling in a ridiculous class at OL before BC was fired: Bryce Givens, Dan Hoch, Trevor Robinson...some of these guys are starting at other Div-1 programs.

The fact that this is Bo's second year. Two classes of BC's guys have graduated. And I think having two of his guys on the 2-deep seems much more ... normal? than an indictment. And to the extent that it is an indictment of something, it may be more on the last minute OL he pulled in his first year after everyone else jumped ship than anything else. I am optimistic about those kids' futures though (Sirles, Qvale)

i don't want to trash our guys, but i would say the following players left by the previous staff are what i would consider "quality":

    murtha

    slauson

    mike smith

    hickman

    williams

    jaivario

the following still have potential to be quality:

    caputo (walk-on)

    marcel

    the rest are just guys:

    dj jones

    mike huff

    andy christensen

    barrett

so, they left us with 6 quality linemen. it's our bad luck that of those 6, two were seniors and the rest have struggled with injuries this year (with jaivario being obviously the biggest blow).

the 2007 recruiting class netted us exactly TWO linemen total: jaivario (stud) and marcel, a project that still needs more time in the weight room.

the 2006 class had the following:

    nicks

    cruz barrett

    victory haines

ricky henry (didn't qualify, resigned in 2008)

    hickman

    williams

    dj jones

mike smith (recruited as a defensive end)

giving us a juco that was pretty good for one season (nicks) and THREE quality high school linemen in smith, hickman and williams - a good class.

the 2005 class had the following:

    pasteur

    picou

    picou

    roark

giving us exactly ZERO quality linemen.

not exactly an impressive record of success in leaving us a "stacked" offensive line. yes, they appeared to have some good ones lined up for the 2008 class, but who's to say they would have stuck anyways, given the sinking ship that was cally's last season.

(and for what it's worth, givens doesn't appear to be very good, robinson appeared to be getting a lot of pressure to go to ND, and hoch probably was going to follow gabbert, who decommitted before the firing.)

Good assessment!!!! Honestly!!! I agree with most of what you said.

But to be honest I would take Givens, Robinson, and Hoch. Givens is a RS Freshman that starts at CU. Even though he doesnt look to be having much success he is just a RS Freshman. Robinson as well-just a RS Freshman or true soph. Hoch I believe to be the best of the three. I played basketball against him and one of my friends went to school with him. He decommitted right when it was basically a sure thing that Cally was gone. TO did make trips to his school, and an in home visit with T. Robinson. We did our best. But it is always nice when a kid decommits from NU and goes to a program that is clearly on the decline. (CU, MU, and ND) :thumbs

  6. with everything thats on the line this weekend i think he'll come out very impressed. our crowd is gonna be even more and intense than the oklahoma game, and he will be watching our d-line dominate. if the huskers win this weekend, i think we make his final 2. :)

I think we are more of a long shot even with that. Hopefully it's warm!!

With JP on him, I dont think we are a long shot at all. We have just as good of a chance as anyone.

  7. No. It would favor schools in talent rich areas and the rich would just get richer.

Yep thats what im thinking. Bad idea, we get people from visits, not from instate. This would hurt us

Yeah I don't like this either.

Im not saying it would have to be in August. The basketball signing period started last wednesday I believe. One in November one in February???

  8. It was stupid. Nothing more. Anyone who has ever REALLY played a team sport knows what its like to get caught up in the moment which is what I think Asante did. It was worth 15 yards, not an ejection.

Also in the OU game? Do you really call what Asante kid being "hot headed?" Come on! That is a bit over the edge. He pops a guy in a game DRENCHED in emotion and he cant do what he did a bit??? Let the kids have some fun. There was no harm in what he did against OU. The hit on Reesing was worth 15, not an ejection. Case closed.

  9. Anyone else wondering if Tyler is looking around because of possible job instability with Watson?

Watson is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Agreed. But IMHO I really hope we put the full court press on Sean Robinson. At this point I really cant stand what Tyler is doing.

He talks about how important it is for the QB of the class to stay committed and now he is waivering? He shows up unofficially several times and runs out of OUR TUNNEL and now he "isnt sure?" Come on now.

  10. So, lets say we put the beat down on KU tomorrow. You think think this guy reconsiders?

Nope. I doubt that the coaches would even accept a verbal committment back from him. He left us, we didnt leave him. Now we are in on some WRs that are better than him.

Was more impressed with this kids safety film over the WR film I saw.

  11. Told Scout he had a great visit to UCLA. He thinks that the Rose Bowl gets pretty wild for a bigger game. Says Neuheisel seems like a real genuine guy.

If he thinks that the Rose Bowl is a wild place wait til he comes to Lincoln. And if he thinks Neuheisel is a real genuine guy, hahahahahahahaha, Bo and Co are going to look like saints.

  12. Yea couldnt take swigert and hill in this class, and like everyone knows, hill has more upside, and not with his talent

Not to mention that Hill is a very good WR as well. You couldnt have gone wrong with either of them.

  13. I do not think we should get a running back. We are already deep with helu, burkhead, robinson (two freshmen). If we get another this year that would discourage Aaron Green or any other running back from coming in 2011.

Take a long look at this film and tell me if this kid is AT ALL worried about ANY depth chart in the nation. (Mods if this is frowned upon please delete). I highly doubt that A. Green is worried about our depth chart, he could go anywhere he wants to in CFB and contribute from day one.

  14. I agree. He and prince are both special.

Yes sir, bright future indeed :thumbs

    Gomes is a baller too.

Our staff seems to be able to recruit some overlooked talent. (I do realize that prince was a Callahan guy)

  15. The guy gets hurt so much do we really want him back? I love how he plays but has he completed a season or gone without being hurt in one?

That is a valid point, but we also lose both starting safeties and beyond that not a lot of depth nor experience. Looking at the depth chart next year we have:

Hagg (who has played a hybrid cb/saf role)

P.J. Smith (played against OU when Asante got hurt - but not a lot of experience otherwise)

Courtney Osborne (really good at hosting recruits)

    Dijon Washington (true freshmen)

Adding an experienced and healthy Thenarse to the mix can only help. I'd keep him off of special teams to try and keep him healthy.

P.J. Smith and Courtney Osborne are two guys that the coaching staff are very high on I would add. The thing about an ACL injury is that you never know if the guy is going to come back at 100 percent. If Ricky does I say we take him.
