What gives you that idea? We've had worse quarterback play *most* of the last 15 years, and a lot of those quarterbacks have had better records. Adrian played great in 2018, yet we went 4-8. So what evidence are you basing this opinion on?

If we had a defense with more depth, or maybe a more experienced D coordinator, or a more dominant offensive line, we don't lose to Colorado, Indiana, Purdue or Iowa. That's not only true of having a better quarterback.

I think most people would be surprised to find out how often Adrian actually ran this year, and how often it was on designed pass plays. I've asked a few times for people to give me video examples of this supposed hesitation (more than just like HE DID IT ONE TIME OMG), because I didn't see it the same way. What others were seeing as hesitation I saw as a loss in athleticism and a slower step due to adding a lot of weight. If you look back on his freshman year, he's a very patient runner with a good instinct for bouncing outside. Much harder to do, and much easier to look indecisive with that running style when you're not getting to the edge well imo.

Hmm, great question. Seems like something we should probably know the answer to before firmly evaluating the quarterback don't you think?

I feel a lot of people will be shocked at how much of a difference having more than one WR will have on the offense.

I think the frustration has less to do with how good Burrow is, and more to do with how bad Adrian is (now).  At the time of Frosts decision it seemed to be the right one. But mentally Burrow is on a completely different level than Adrian right now.

You cant blame his shoulder injury on his NON-THROWING shoulder past the halfway point in the season.   If im honest, and not trying to spare someones feelings, AM is as off mentally as i have EVER seen a starting QB.  You could heal all his injuries, put LSU's offensive line in front of him, give him LSU's receivers, and he STILL will not time the throws right, not see open guys, hesitate on his decisions, and often miss open receivers even when he DOES see them, including simple screen passes that will not hit the runner in stride.

I dont know what the kid is going through, and its nothing about Character, but even with plenty of fans admitting how off Martinez was this entire year, overall i dont think most of our fan base on here at least realizes just how bad he was.  It amazes me how many people will blame the OL, the Receivers, and the defense more than the QB, or blame injuries, some phantom sophmore slump theory, anything other than how mentally god aweful he was.  Its just the truth.

Someone mentioned how much of a difference 1 really good player makes.  Especially at QB.  With a healthy Vedral (a halfway decent QB) we are 7-5 this year instead of 5-7.  With a Joe Burrow level QB (and dont tell me Adrian was much faster than burrow or could buy any more time than Burrow with his legs this year) even if he is not a supposed dual threat QB, we are 9-3 this year.  Thats how much difference a very good QB vs a bad QB can make.

A lot to unpack here. I don't have much time, but the thing that sticks out immediately to me is If you're of the opinion that an injury to the non-throwing shoulder doesn't matter you've never thrown a baseball or football property one time. Clearly, there are differences between the front side and the throwing arm. But your front side is extremely important. Stand sideways and throw a baseball or football without raising your off shoulder/arm.

Burrow likes to remind the media that Nebraska turned him down, but it will be interesting to see if Burrow has that same type of vitriol for Ryan Day and Ohio State who was the OC who chose Dwayne Haskins over Burrow in 2018.

I dont know if its Joe reminding the media or if it's the media making it a point to bring it up and remind Joe.

He was offered by Riley's staff. If he wanted to be here so bad he could have been. He made the right choice and hes now a walking soon to be millionaire.

I just finished watching the first half. Sorry Frost but- Yes he is better than we got.

Check Joe’s stats from last year and place them next to Adrian’s from last year. You’ll find Burrow was not better last year than what we had. Nobody called this breakout season from Burrow at all.

As long as the kid isn't rampaging around campus, and he isn't being rundown by the coach to get to class....he should be walking tall with that scholarship in hand to get smart at NU's expense.

"Unfortunately we didn’t play Luke more so we end up having to defer judgement to the coaches despite the eye test which most feel leads to give Luke a real chance to play a couple games at least."

Your sense of reality is laughable.  We don't have any say in who plays or not.  All fan bases have to always "defer judgement" to the coaches.  Saying that most feel Luke is better is absurd.  You have absolutely no idea what most feel because 90%+ of Nebraska fans don't take the time to post on message boards.

Do you really believe that Scott would play AM if he didn't think he gave us the best chance to win?

I like to drink beer, watch a lot of football, and pretend that I know more than the coaches at times.  A lot of us do that but most of us sober up and realize that it's pretty likely that the guy getting paid millions to do the job probably knows more.

Quality take here. We all have to remember that 100% of message boards are completely detached from all reality as is all social media. None of this is real life and the tone of all of it doesn't reflect the feelings of most or any truth.

There are two open spots for this class still, and that is with Betts and Washington. Those leaves you have might not be tea

You can only have 88 at a time on scholarship at the end of each semester. Which is why Betts and Conn weren't going to be allowed to sign early because we thought we had either Slusher or Johnson. When it was clear we didn't we let Conn sign late Wednesday. After Frost's meeting with Mo, Betts was allowed to sign placing us at 88; 3 over the total limit, perfectly legal.

That’s the opposite of what people who actually have insider contacts have said so I’m inclined to be skeptical.

I haven't talked to many people who don't believe Martinez when healthy is our best option AS IT STANDS. That's obviously subject to change.

If they do not accept core credits I know at least one rule that can get someone.  In D1 you have to remain at so many credits per semester,  The NU system as a whole is pretty hard on credit transfers.  But those are admissions office questions.

If they allowed him as a student they would have had to accept his credits as electives.

I sat by Teddy Prochazka and T.J. at the Indiana game, he was amped up during the game and seemed to hit it off with Teddy and some of the other guys. Will be a battle with Wisky. I’m guessing he is one of the top couple guys on their board for next year.

I know we're celebrating both Jesus' birthday and a successful recruiting season right now, but this thread gives us pause to consider understanding and forgiveness.

Virtually every criticism of  Tim Beck's offense while he was at Nebraska could be leveled at Scott Frost.

In fairness to both Beck and Frost, they run minor variations of  a modern college football offense practiced by more successful programs, and coaches who aren't accused of being "too cute" because they win.

The only differences between what we do and what Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich did at Oregon is how we block plays and we have more gap blocking packages. I'm really hoping Scott trusts the OL enough next season to run as much exotic blocking packages as we did in 2018 that really made our offense dangerous. We saw pin and pull blocks which were a staple of what Scott did at Oregon and UCF a very minimal amount of times and I'm going to guess that was because we didn't trust any of our OL to get out and block in space.

How any of it is different than what Beck does? The base 4 plays are the same, but the reads and blocking are different. Beck might do a few things we do. But he doesn't do everything we do. Which is what makes our offense work. Beck tries to morph about 4 different schemes into one and call it his.

Wegener was a stud on the field and in the classroom before joining the Huskers.  But, like Jurgens, he came into fall camp with lower leg injuries.  I also heard he was not eligible due to some transfer rule, but nobody was specific what it was.  He should be interesting to watch now that he is eligible.  His foot injury hasn't really been talked about.  I'm hoping he healed up to give Jurgens and Will Farniok a competition for the center job.

I can't think of a single transfer rule that would allow a student athlete to transfer to a 4 year as a student and not be allowed to play.

I think Smothers has the best future between he and McCaffrey, but I don’t see him beating Luke out for 2nd string in 2020. If Vedral sticks around, I expect Smothers to be 4th string and redshirt.

    Smothers will redshirt, yes.

Greg Sharpe was on Nick Handley’s show, I think Friday, and Sharpe wasn’t holding his breath. Said the expectations of what was set out for him is a tough task which he didn’t have confidence would be achieved.

If you also read the tea leaves with scholarship numbers, Betts being allowed to sign scream that Mo is not expected to be on scholarship next semester

Teddy is listed as 6’9” and I bet will be a top 50 recruit.   I can’t imagine any universe where anyone takes him from Nebraska.   That’s one hell of a cornerstone for a class.

Teddy this spring, summer, and fall has the chance to play his way up to 5 stars. Really like the talent weve stacked at OL
