Good seeing you again EZ-E. Just curious. Based off of what?
Hed be remorseful since being suspended indefinitely.
Hed still been going to class and doing better there than he had been.
Frost was open to Mo coming back under certain circumstances.
Mo was at the awards banquet a couple Sundays ago.
If you listen to what Scott said at the signing day presser, I feel one could hear him start to set the narrative for a Mo return.
-
I was confident that Mo would be given an opportunity to earn his teammates' trust back as late as Saturday evening. Now, I dont feel that is in the cards and we won't be seeing Mo back.

Interesting. Glad you were allowed to rejoin (perhaps a Christmas spirit thing by the admin?). I can relate as I'm still on a true perma-ban from HuskerMax, and was quite nervous joining here given that they now own this site.
I don't know about you, but I was an on-again-off-again wicked drunk in those days over at that board, and was rightly ushered out.
Even though I don't know you, welcome back!
I was a punk 24 year old kid that also drank way too much and decided whilst he was drinking would light up HuskerBoard like a Christmas tree. I had it coming and as a result I've got zero leash. In six years, I grew up.
I have to thank the administration and the mods team in their discussions on this topic and whoever was in my corner as I realize the memories of me on this board weren't all pleasant. I was reading back through some PMs and some of them from Knapplc about warnings and suspensions were absolutely cringeworthy.

These conversations are happening with non-contributors and Frost has done a great job of moving kids along.
Zero reason for a guy like Dwayne Johnson to be on scholarship 5 years and make the 85 spring camp roster once.

I'd like to know who is 'king of the boards' drill with this group. I doubt it is either Matt Farniok or Brendan Jaimes. My favorites for starters would be:
RT 76 Jaimes, Brenden SR
RG 71 Farniok, Matt RS SR
C 58 Wegener, Josh SR/TR
LG 70 Sichterman, Matt RS JR
LT 54 Benhart, Bryce SO
Backups
G/T 75 Hixson, Trent RS JR
56 Wilson, Boe RS SR
73 Bando, Broc RS JR
XX Corcoran, Turner FR
57 Piper, Ethan RS FR
78 Fritzsche, Jimmy RS FR
77 Lynn, Michael RS FR
56 Shefke, Collin RS SO
61 Balenger, Mitchell RS SO
C 52 Forbes, AJ RS SO
Is Gaylord even coming back? He graduated and if he would like to stay on I'm sure coaches would enjoy that. But he could just as easily do the transfer portal for some graduate hours somewhere else.
Cam has a chance to be one of the best centers we’ve ever had. We’re not taking a GT to fill his spot.

Hi all!
For you old timers on the board, yes it really is me after 6 years away. When rules are broken one has to pay the price and endure the consequences. Very grateful to administration for allowing me back. In all of this I missed multiple coaching changes from assistants to head coaches. Missed out on tracking flights and all of the fun stuff!
For awhile, I’ll probably read much more than I post to attempt to get a feel for the board again.
Very exciting time to be in Lincoln! I understand the results weren’t what we had all hoped. I can assure you there’s much more good than bad happening!
Get all of your shopping done you degenerate procrastinators!

Because I know the folks involved in this I will state that he never "tried" for those jobs. Miami had an offer for him when they called him (not the other way around). Arky there was no interest on his end and I'm not sure there was much from there side either other than people reaching out to see if there was interest. There is a misconception he's out searching and that wasn't true although if I were him I would be sure to check around now.
I do too and they said the opposite. He wanted the Miami job, Arky was used more to get yet another undeserved raise from Tom.
Yes. He wanted the Miami job. Due to his poor performance they chose a guy who had been a coach at Temple before taking their job.
YOU ARE A COMPLETE RETARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Bo were going to move on, after the 2010 season would have been optimal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think about it. Around the time of the Miami rumor in 2010:
1) He had just turned a program around completely after a second trip to a conference title
2) He had just won ten games in the Big 12 which at the time was significantly harder than in the ACC
3) Harvey had just stabbed him in the back through the media
4) The media in Omaha had started to really harp on him
5) The sanctions that Miami would face had not even been heard of until later that spring
Put down your crack pipe and remember the situation.

Da skers is Steven Sipple.....it all makes sense now
Hedley, you lied about Bo's behavior at his son's sporting events. You were either blatantly lying or reaching.
-
What happened here? Once a Husker lean now visiting everywhere but Nebraska
I think we cooled on him. We are in on Clinkscales, and thought we had a shot Stuckey. Both are probably better prospects.
I would agree here.
-
I'm skeptical of JMitch as well. The word out of fall camp was that JRose is a monster but plays too risky for Coach Joseph's liking.

Great find.

Great post, EZ. Some responses...
1) I think it's tough for any of us to predict or analyze the pool of available coaches. So a perceived lack of an obvious candidate isn't a concern.
2) Completely agree on Beck. Everybody's an armchair OC. I think Beck's doing some really nice things here, I like the guy and I hope he stays regardless. However, is it possible for NU to do better at the position? Yeah, I guess so.
3) It's possible the next coach will be better or worse than Bo Pelini. That's a risk that nobody can ever prevent from existing. The presence of that risk isn't a reason to hang onto Bo IF it's been determined that he's not our guy.
4) We've had some bad luck, sure, but that doesn't exculpate the coaches completely. For instance, you talk about safety play. How many years has that been an issue now? A lot. And, like many things, the current status is merely "things are looking up." A lot of things look up, but don't ultimately pan out. Which is probably a good summary of the recent past.
I love Bo's ability to coach defenses, but that's not all he's in charge of here. If we need to make a change, the great unknown is scary, but Bo isn't the only guy in the world who can coach a defense either. Maybe with the current promise he can take the defense from its recent history of embarrassing blowouts back to its 09 heights, or maybe in 2-3 years we'll pointing to that time that guy tweeted and messed up Bo's recruiting again just as he was turning the corner, but Bo's really turning the corner again now and we should give him another 2-3 years because look at all these defensive tackles from the '15 and '16 classes...
You broke down point number one in a long post. Where is the rest?
-
I agree. 3 things really holding us back, though that is a "why can't we just seem to fix it?"
.....
Penalties, turnovers, special teams.
We lack in these phases pretty bad.
Special teams just need a re-boot and practice practice practice.
It's the penalties and turnovers that seem to be a psychological barrier that can only be fixed by some REAL accountability and leadership.
Leaders forcing teammates into more focus and accountability. This is what is baffling to me; penalties and turnovers.
But I'm excited for the last 3 games and the next couple years. Losing Martinez sucks a big one, but it may be a blessing for the future with experience if nothing else.
I would add to this our inability to develop depth. I know we've had a lot of injuries in the past years, and I know people say that we simply didn't have the talent and the numbers. But I feel a lot of this was simply due to coachs refusing to play numbers. I've heard Roy Williams speak about this at coaches conferences. I know its different sport but coaching philosophy is coaching philosophy. He has always said that if you want depth you have to play depth. you have to put some young guys in the game even if they're not completely ready. Instead we have a tendency to go with the same guys play after play game after game. then they end up getting injured because they never get a break and we're screwed.
We have depth now. Thin at a few places, but our make shift OL just spanked a pretty good DL.

If a change is made 11 wins better come in year two.
Serious question, EZ.yomkti
Why should Bo, in your opinion, get 8 years to build his program, and then the next guy had better win 11 games in year 2?
You remove a guy to get someone better. Bo won 9 his first year and 10 his second year. The next guy better beat that. If that doesn't happen we've wasted a lot of time, money, and a lot of resources we will never get back. People wanna think we are irrelevant now? Just wait.
With talent that I admit is on the team and you seem ready to build statues of, next year with a new coach would be far from a train wreck.
However....
This premise that a new coach must win 11 games in two years, when theoretically, they could be trying to win with their starting QB hurt, similar injuries to their OL, Gregory declared for the draft, and has "great group of talent in the wings, just wait", is hilarious, hypocritical and obtuse.
keep killing it +1
The fact that you are now allowing the excuses to a new head coach that you haven't given Bo is funny.

I know what you were saying. Weird how you used a kissing men analogy.

Does it not depend on the context of those games though? I mean what is our SOS those seasons? What is our record against ranked teams? How many did we play? Did we show up on national television and play a heck of a game? Did we get blown out? The next HC should be given 5 years unless it is an absolute train wreck which then you would obviously fire and hire again. You have to kiss a lot of toads to find your prince sometimes EZ.
Wouldn't know that because I'm not after a Prince.

Lots and lots and lots of booster dollars going down the drain if Bo is removed.
No, it's the booster dollars that will ultimately have him removed. You guys are hi-larryous.
Great opening post.

I would really like to know where I have "bitched" about the MSU loss. If I did and you can find it please direct me towards it and I will agree with you that I bitched about the loss. Just to make things clear you are ok with our losses? I mean you do not see a need to address any issues or rise any concerns?
No, I don't like losing. But it happens....to every team. And yes, some things need to be fixed. I've already said that. And no, I don't think getting rid of Bo is the answer.
And all you have done since you've made your comeback this week is bitch about Bo. How can you deny that?
Oh I obviously dislike Mr. Spaghetti on several different levels. Recruiting, Off the field antics regarding his temper, coaching, looking for other jobs etc etc etc. Why is it so terrible to voice my displeasure with Mr. Spaghetti when the program I love is being held back by him? He told you already what he thinks of all of us and it can only be said in the woodshed here. I am just looking forward to moving on from all of this after the Iowa game.
Recruiting is so bad that we have a defense full of young kids that played every bit as good as the Michigan State defense did on Saturday. We also have a coach who is so unapproachable off the field that he let a little cancer patient who can never actually play football run a play in the spring game. There has been one job that Bo even considered. tOSU.
Just wondering, with everybody being so sensitive an weird about racism, is the spaghetti comment aimed to be prejudicial to Pelini being Italian?

I'd sure hate replacing a 9 win Head Coach for a 5 win Head Coach. That's bad business.
Would you replace a 9 win coach for an 11+ win coach?
If you can guarantee me 11 or more wins every season for the next 5 seasons you've got a deal.
If a change is made 11 wins better come in year two.

Man. Losing to MSU was a bad deal all the way around. Had we beaten them this guy wouldn't be here right now.
Po he isn't anti-Bo. He's "pro-Nebraska."
