Pretty good post EZ, and I think many share some of those sentiments, and others understand them.
Recently, however, we have began to transition away from zone. We have really started to run power sweep, G toss, Belly G, and straight power much more in the run game. I think that has a lot to do with the OL improvement this season and the fact that negative plays have nearly disappeared. Downhill, as some like to call it. Much less read, cut. Ameer's vision is still awesome in the hole but his cut is now coming at the second level as I'm sure you've noticed. We still run some zone out of shotgun, but the pistol looks are getting more and more away from that.
I'll have to look back at those plays to see what you mean. What I am talking about is when we are in the gun depending on where Ameer lines up tells the defense where the play is designed to go. I think you touched on it in your post.
Ya, I have noticed this trend throughout football. High school level even. Start in a pistol and then shift to the side you want to tip the defense to. One more thing a DC has to worry about, are they tipping me to go that way or a they going to misdirection off of it?
That's what makes it such a great system that Oregon and we run.
1) if Ameer is lined up behind Tommy but TA is at shotgun depth, we are running an inside zone read
2) if Ameer is lined up by his side, it's an outside zone read.
3) when you option off one player, may it be the DT, DE, OLB or whomever, you are creating a numbers advantage on the play side.
Chip Kelly when he was at Oregon wanted other teams to know the first two points about his offense that based on the formations they could tell where the play was designed to go. When teams would over pursue it helped out his OL.
The over pursuit and pre-snap reads the defense would make would open up cutback lanes.

I Eichorst is a very hands off guy. I personally feel in this situation he should say something. This gives a lot of teams extra fire power in recruiting.

If you don't know there were boosters who supported Bill Callahan, you need different/better insiders.
Alright big guy.
Atta boy, little guy.

Lots and lots and lots of booster dollars going down the drain if Bo is removed.
That's what they said when Tom retired. And when Frank was fired. And when Callahan was fired.
Firing Callahan was suppose to lose us booster revenue? Wasn't he the one the was bought out by private donations?

a big-time booster, banker in north platte may disagree.
He's an anomaly.

Osborne has said himself he didn't feel he had all the guys he needed to run what he wanted to until year 8. Doing some quick math, that would give Bo two more years. RG44's senior year.

Do I need to read about DC? Is he really a prick? I'd hate to waste my time base on the opinions. I can't call him Dirk. There's only one Dirk and that's Nowitzki.
How long you've got? I can go on and on about the bastard. Seen the movie Green Street Hooligans? That is how I feel about Dirk Chatelain. Ameer Abdullah runs for 120 yards behind a patch-work offensive line, RG44 plays a monster of a game, we play well enough to win the game at every postion but QB and special teams and the article above is what that douche chooses to write about?
There has never been one thing nice about the program that he has ever said and in Dirk's eyes Bo can't get one thing right.
Oh. Wow. Well he need to GTF outta here. Nice way to portray it all too btw. I didn't know.
Had a spat with him on twitter about recruiting. He's worthless.

I'm not as confident as many of you are that Bo will not be fired after the season (gotta get thru two more games still), but the thought of him voluntarily resigning, especially secretly doing it mid season, is not plausible to me.

Never dissappointed. Watched this movie on TV the other day.

f#*k today and everything that it stood for. Strawberry shine, bring your sexy ass over here.

f#*k Dirk Chatelain and all he stands for. I think Knapp is onto something here. There is absolutely a reason the OP draws attention to Dirk's articles two days in a row.

For some reason I feel I know where this bull sh#t is coming from. Got a facebook message from a buddy that said he heard from a "media source" that Bo will be bought out at the end of the year. I then sent a message to a respected member of this board and he told me that a "media source" told someone in confidence that he will never write anything positive about Bo and he writes every article about Husker football with the idea of Bo getting canned. If this is coming from the same source, this guy can f#*k off and I would enjoy doing what the Green Street Hooligans do to filthy muck-raking journos.
With the above said, I don't put much stock into this guy that started this rumor. Even if it is true, the "source" he got it from will obviously never tell him anything again or told him this with every intention that he would do what he did. Also, to our lawyers or law students on the board, if I were Bo Pelini and I did this dumb f#*k claimed he did there would be an iron clad non-disclosure form to any and all in the room that witnessed me sign my resignation papers. What you think??
When this is not true, this guy and the audio-tape gate guy become our Steve Bartman. f#*k them and they should be ashamed to call themselves fans of Nebraska. This is the same thing as rooting for your team to lose. You take an unwarrented swipe at the program with the intention that it will hurt it only to try to get people fired?? f#*k you and I hope you are reading this.
All-in-all, I am putting my head in the sand and not going to worry about this sh#t. It is another bull sh#t distraction from football that our team doesn't need and something that is out of the control of (at least I believe) all on this board.

Mike'l Severe said something today which I completely agree with. We should never celebrate a coach's firing, quitting, resignation, etc. There's so much that goes into it, and once something like that is done, you have to think about that coach's family and what it means to them, but also what it means to all the assistant coaches and their families who won't know if they have a job or not.
So, what I'm saying is, if Pelini really did sign resignation papers, this must have been an extremely tough decision. He would've done it knowing that not only will he and his family have to find a new job/place to live, but that he put 10 other coach's jobs/lives in jeopardy. At this point, I have a tough time believing Pelini would do this willingly given his obvious devotion to his assistants and players.
But, crazier things have happened.
Great points

Interesting, I have met the guy a few times in my field of study LOL. Don't know him enough though to deem this a trustworthy source or not.
Welcome to the board.

Idk why any coach with Bo's contract would resign. If I was in his position and thought I would be fired, I'd make them fire me and take the buy out.

He was a 3 for 2 guy, but if he used one this year he probably wouldn't get his hardship for a fifth year.

If you think this staff is willing to do that to a kid just to win football games I feel sorry for you.
Kinda like how we trotted Martinez out there against Minnesota after he was a month into an 8 month injury?
Not even close to a good comparison. We are talking about Zach's brain, not his 2nd and 3rd toes.
What about playing Cody Green through a concussion?
Of course he's not going to play a guy who is ~0% like Darlington is now. But what about when he recovers to the point that he's 40% and doctors are saying "Yeah, probably should wait a little longer on this one" but Bo looks past that because it benefits him? What empirical evidence do you have suggesting Bo wouldn't play him then?
I am not privy to the exact circumstances with the Cody Green deal but I do know there were rumors that he played against ISU with a concussion that year.
I think you are reaching pretty far on your last comments there.

I think much of the hatred for Dirk is just misplaced anger from Bo supporters because what he is saying often has a lot of truth to it.
To the extent the man takes a degree of sadistic glee in what he's saying, it might have something to do with the fact that Bo has pretty much been a total dick to the media since the day he accepted the job. Guarantee, wherever Bo goes next, not being a complete ass to the media and fanbase will be at the top of his "to-do" list.
There could also be a reason Bo is a dick to him as well.
We'll know 100% in a few weeks, but as of now, my money is on Bo being the head football coach at Nebraska next season.

Aaron Bailey
Kincade
Two that come to mind. I feel had we gotten either we wouldn't have taken Johnny. I'm more than happy we got Johnny though. He didn't start at the top of our board, but with the summer he had he ended up there.
Aaron Bailey... didn't he commit to Illinois..then think about coming back to us and we said no?
I know the staff thought they got the best (interested) QB on the board and it was affirmed by Chip Kelly trying to pluck him from us.
I'm in no way complaining about JS and I wouldn't trade him for any other QB. But in January 2012 I don't think he was number one on our big board.
Correct about Bailey.
Number one on our big board? Probably not. Number one on actually interested potential recruits? I think so. For instance, Malik Zaire said he was interested. I highly doubt there was any way he would've legitimately came here.
Pulling a kid away from ND in that area is easier said than done.
