  1. $4,000,000+ is plenty of reasons....we will not bargain shop again.

Well, UCLA told him to name his price. So I'd like to hear another reason other than we can pay him a lot of money because at least the last time he was seriously approached, he turned a lot of money down.

You've been told this before, but more money, better facilities in place to recruit, a better conference for more BCS success and Lincoln is more like his hometown than la is.

Here's something you haven't heard before:

My uncle was an accounting professor at Boise State. He is now a big time booster at BSU. My mother was out for the BSU - Southern Miss game and sat in his press box. The common feeling among the boosters out there is that if he didn't leave to UCLA he was going to be there till he retired. I had a conversation with QMany about this Saturday as my mom was telling the story.

Last I checked, accountants...even accounting professors don't make enough coin to be considered *big time* boosters.

See the bolded. Notice how I said "was?" He is not an accounting professor anymore.

  2. Barney needs to go for sure.

    why?

The line is already better this year in Garrisons first year. And the TEs are god awful this year. Im not to high on his coaching ability.

he still helps with the OL. the TE position is made up of 4 freshmen, 3 redshirt freshmen, 2 sophomores and 1 senior who has been hurt most of the year. of the underclassmen, one was on the defense last year and one has been injured for parts of the year this year, IIRC. not too sure but i think only half of them are on scholarship as well.

I forgot about all those penalties we had last year too.

    Alright.

  3.

Bo is doing a good but maybe not great job. Yet. He's certainly doing good enough to not get fired. The WORST thing for Nebraska would be to fire another 9 win coach.

Seriously, we can't be unlucky enough to be the only school stupid enough to fire a 9 win coach and then do it again ten years later, can we???

This was covered earlier in the post. By a pretty cool guy I might add.

Many things are different now than they were ten years ago

Except for the main part, where we are the only school in history to fire a 9 win coach, which lead to a near apocalypse, and now we are discussing doing it all over again.

    Ohio St. waves hi.

Jim Tressel would still be there had there been no NCAA investigation/sanctions

There have been times NUPolo has had good points. This isn't one of them.

  4. It is largely believed that our 90s run will probably never happen again for 95% of CFB teams.

I can agree with that however I still think we can be competitive but seems to me there are still a lot of people who reference Osborne + 90's teams who ran the ball and had a nasty defense. They had an identity unlike this team where our identity is so...

    jekyllandhyde.jpg

We can use the blueprint, but overall I just don't see us ever being like we were in the 90s

  5. Even if you were to believe you wanted Pelini out, the idea of rooting against Nebraska is so deeply disturbing to me I can barely put it into words.

I will NEVER root against Nebraska Football. Never. It is against my moral fiber and so deeply woven into the fabric of my family it might as well be DNA.

It is never OK, no matter your reasons. It is the epitome of a self-loathing existence I cannot, will not, understand.

    GO BIG MOTHER F@CKING RED!!

    :bonez

  6. For those of you calling people "anit-bo" what we really are is pro-Nebraska. These debates are the Pro-Bo's vs the Pro-Nebraska's

Yes the pro-Nebraskans that would rather see us lose to Penn. St., Iowa, and whatever bowl game we end up in.

What is best for the long term of the program? If you feel that Pelini is hampering the program from reaching expectations you would see the need to lose to bring in someone else. If you believe Pelini is the answer than you want him to win out. It is all how you view the program and its trajectory. Personally I am of the belief that Pelini and his band of misfit toys need to leave Lincoln. However, when I watch a game I cannot and never will be able to cheer against them. But when we do lose it does not hurt like it used to because it is potentially one step closer to what I feel will make this program better in the future. Is this apathy or something else? Maybe a little of both but all these debates center around the fact that people are divided on who should lead our program. All of us are equal fans of this team

I just read this post and can't believe it.

So you get angry when the "kool aid" is flowing but yet basically it's okay to want your team to lose because its better for us long term.

    You are ridiculous.

  7. It's unfair to say that TMart wouldn't have shown improvement in this category this year when healthy in my opinion.

This is me saying its a forgone conclusion he would have been better.

    Alright.

Considering what I want to say to you would probably awaken mods I'm just going to shake my head and thank the flying spaghetti monster I don't have to go through life with your grasp on things.

  8. This place turned into a circus lead by a guy that only shows up after a loss. A loss in which was actually well coached for the majority of the game.

Knapp, remember that thread about seasonal Birchers? Is this not the shining example?

Calling for my head because we disagree EZ?

Actually he is correct, you do only show up after a loss.

Really ONLY after a loss? I recall posting during wins as well last season. Have I been gone a portion of the season this year? Sure have because I can only read so much Kool Aid before I punch my screen. I have had this stance for over a year and it has been shown in all of my posts dating back to last season. I am not a seasonal complainer

    Where have you been recently?

  9. Look, I am not advocating Peterson. He is not even on my short list. What my angle was is that we are going to open the wallet for our next hire when Bo is gone. Which Vegas feels is this season. EZ i get your view on all of this you think Bo and staff rock at recruiting and are these awesome people that love Nebraska and it is their dream jobs etc. We are obviously both on completely opposing sides on this and practically all things pertaining to the direction of the program.

So you are basing the idea of Bo being removed on what Vegas thinks? Where do you get the idea we'll open up the checkbook if a change is made? A magic 8 ball?

How much did we pay our new AD? We are not playing around anymore and bargain shopping. Take that to the bank EZ

Take this to the bank as well:

Unless he is fired for cause, Bo will be the head coach next year.

Should I take that to the bank with "Bo recruits better than Callahan" too?

All I'd ask for is an elaboration as to why you say it.

  10. $4,000,000+ is plenty of reasons....we will not bargain shop again.

  13. I'm unsure about why Coleman wasn't hired the first time around.

I don't see a reason currently to remove Barney. We did just run when we wanted to on the "best defense in the nation."

JP, we have seen a huge improvement defensively. We've been very fortunate to stay healthy on that side of the ball as well. Up for debate.

  16. Nah. Just trying to end the conversation with you.

Next time, try it with a "you're correct". Its not my fault you tried to make a know it all point about Taylor Martinez improving this year when he wasn't injured when in actuality that adds up to 35 minutes and 58 seconds of a sample size.

"It's unfair to say that TMart wouldn't have shown improvement in this category this year when healthy in my opinion."

Where did he say he improved based on a SSS? He said its unfair to say he WOULDN'T have improved if healthy the entire year.

He didn;t say it. He doesn't have to. he said "Taylor Martinez has improved on this year when he wasn't hurt" The only game he wasn't hurt was the first game. Nebraska had the ball for 35 minutes and 58 seconds. He played the whole time. Every other game he's played in, according to everyone, he's been hurt.

And yes, its unfair to say he wouldn't have improved. But it's an unknowable thing, let alone a straw man argument. But he didn't say that. He tried to make a blanket statement, and I made a flip remark because that statement was stupid. Holy crap

Point to where I said that it is a forgone conclusion that he would have improved.

  17. Nah. Just trying to end the conversation with you.

It's fine. Anyone actually reading the thread can tell I really didn't say anything outlandish from my standpoint.

So next time NUPolo, try it with a "I disagree with your statement. When I tried to pick apart your comment it didn't work and I wasted my time. I may as well shoved my face into an entire crate of eggs."

  18. If we recruit QBs that need to be developed and polished extensively why do we not have a QB coach? Seems to me we could can Cotton and hire a coach that can mold some dang QBs

Hopefully we can find a spot for Joe Ganz on staff.

No thanks, I would rather have a coach that has experience developing QB talent and not a volunteer/grad assistant. We already have a complete lack of experience on this staff.

You're probably right. Joe is going to have a ton of options this next off season if Watson and Beck get head jobs. You can't possibly attribute some of the improvement TM showed from his sophomore to junior year to Ganz and Beck. It all goes to work with Calhoun for a week other than the guys he worked with all the majority of the time.
