  1. Yes, Zac Taylor will struggle the first few games, but what team doesn't struggle the first few games? Texas A&M was blown out by Utah the first game of the year last year but look how McNeil recovered as the season went on. Yeah i know.. i know, he got abused by Tennessee in the cotton bowl, but it's Tennesse, not Wyoming or some other low level DIV-A team they played.
  2. I would have to go with J.B Phillips. I have heard alot of good things about him lately, and i expect him to step up and fill in Matt Herians shoes if Matt doesn't make it back this year.
  3. I think people tend to focus more on stars then talent. There are several players who are going to be outstanding this year. The majority of the prospects that are noy ranked 4 or 5 stars do not have film on them. Some schools are small and can't afford taping every single game, or even have the proper editing equipment to cut and paste game clips or create highlight reels. You have to go by word of mouth. The Nebraska coaching staff did a good thing by offering every tom, dick and harry WR in the nation for right now untill they can get game photoage from this year or at least be able to evaluate these kids personally during a visit.
  4. I wil keep that in mind next time i call a recruit and ask him to give me a different story other then what he told scout or rivals just to make it come off as my own. Please tell me how ..... You know what..im not even going to sink to your level. I am going to walk away. People are free to believe what they want. Have a nice day Willie. P.S: Those who were part of Husker Tunnel Walk know EXACTLY why it was shut down, and trust me, you can believe what you want, but it had nothing to do with copywrite infringement, and more to do with me giving the same info they had for free which they claimed "effected their business" and scout threating EzBoard of taking their business elsewhere if they did not shut down my site.
  5. Thanks for the information dude. I'm sure you know way more about recruiting then I do, so it is always good to get more knowledge. I 2nd that!! I appreciate your work IncognitoHusker!! I know you dont want to ruin this board you even said so in a post. So just do your own homework and it seems you do so theres nothing anyone can do about it whether they are haters or not!! The more info the better, noone is 100% anyway even the so called "Goorooz" that get payed for it! That's very true toad. I know a few guys from rivals like Jeremy Crabtree who took a beating last year over some predictions they threw out there on the message boards and it totally backfired. Some people forget that we are dealing with 17 and 18 year old kids who are easily distracted or drawn away by shiney objects. If i had a dollar for everytime a recruit changed his mind, i would be done paying off my student loans. Not rich, but not indebt, that's for sure
  6. That's what i heard. I haven't had a chance to play with them yet but i know they have quite a few EA impact players on their roster. Another team i heard was fun to play with was North Texas. Right now, i have been running my games in simulation mode and trying to see what kinda scores Nebraska comes out with in each game. I am running them in Junior Varsity, All American and Hiesman mood. So far, Nebraska scored 217 points against Maine in Junior Varsity mode, 56 points in All American and 41 in Hiesman mode. Right now i axm running a simulation against Iowa St in Hiesman mode and Nebraska is leading 27-18.
  7. One thing comes to mind about committing early. Edward Britton. If you don't know what i am talking about, then don't worry about it. For those who know what i am talking about, then you know the reason
  8. This is my opinion based on what i have heard from other analyst or read in some sources or heard from directly from the recruits. 10-30% Isn't interested in us at all 30-50% VERY slim chance 50-75% Still being considered but we are lagging behind in recruiting 75-90% Nebraska is a favorite with a few other teams 90-95% Nebraska is heavy favorite and odds of visiting are HIGH 95-100% Will most likely commit when it's all said and done Carlton Salters: Carlton is a little underrated in my opinion. Finished last season with 900 yards and 6 touchdowns. Although he's high on Auburn first, Maryland second, Nebraska still has a chance with him. Not my first choice at WR, only because of his height. If you look around the Big12, you will see WR's in the 6-3 to 6-5 range. Salters is at 6-0. Salters might end up at Auburn if he commits to them early, otherwise its Maryland . He camped at Auburn this year and last year and has visited them unofficially a total of 4 times. 2 last year duriung the season, 1 prior to the season and another unofficial during the spring game. Auburn is targeting 4 star prospects Marcus Sims, DeAndre McDaniel, Raven Gray and Kareem Kromwell and chances are high they land 2 of those prospects. Right now, i would put our chances at 30% Quinton Hancock: Another prospects Nebraska has its eyes on (Insert Auburn again). Yes, Auburn is also in on this guy and Auburn is in his top 5 with Nebraska, South Carolina, Clemson and Florida. One thing that helps out is the fact he's visiting. If he doesn't commit before he visits Nebraksa, we stand a 75% chance of landing him. The batle will come down to Nebrska, Auburn and South Carolina. Depdening on how many recruits Auburn has landed at WR, then our chances either decrease or increase. This guy might not jump out at you with stats, but one thing that seperates him from the rest of the WR's we are targeting is the fact he plays offense AND defense and is a outstanding athlete on both sides. Kenny Britt: Ahh yes. A Jersey Kid. The last recruits coming out of New Jersey were all recruited by the old staff. Jammal Lord, Joe Dailey, Wali Muhammed. It's been so long since we recruited a kid from that neck of the woods who has come here and done something outstanding. Kenny on the other hand seems to be primed for an explosion on the college level. He still has some growing up to do in the athletic area, but he has raw talent. This kid can flat out fly and has long arms. There's a reason why he's on the rivals 250 list and a 4 star prospect. If he visits, we are in great shape and would be in that 75-90 range. If he doesn't visit, he drops down to the 30-50% range. His top 5 will eventually come down to Nebraska, Purdue, Michigan St, Oklahoma and Minnesota. Kevin Cosgrove will be duking it out with Darrell Wyatt (Rec coach) of OU and Tony Samuel of Purdue for his services. I am not as worried about Purdue as i am about Wyatt. He has been known for his hardcore recruiting and if you ask any recruiting expert, they will tell you that he's in the top10 of recruiters in the nation. Delashaun Dean and Chris Mitchell are 2 prospects i know the staff really has grown to admire. Mitchell has interest in alot of teams and to try to pinpoint it would not be easy. One minute he's high on Miami, the next on Nebraska, and then on Ole Miss. If you ask him on different days what team he likes, you will get different answers. I had a chance to talk to him earlier in the year and he has a great sense of humour. He likes to kid around alot but knows that picking the right school isn't a joke. He loves playing video games and for some odd reason, he likes playing with Boise St on NCAA Football. Dean on the other hand is your typical WR. He's got the height, speed and vertical jump to get any ball in his area. He's explosive off the line of scrimmage and has moves like Barry Sanders. He is under-rated in my opinion and will get his justice in the DIV-A level. Markieth Summers 5% Jermaine Gresham 5% Andrey Baskins 0% Percy Harvin 0% THe rest of the guys mentioned fall between the 75-90% range and it's to early to tell. Whatever recruit Nebraska lands from this list (minus the ones out of reach), won't make a difference to me because they all bring something unique and interesting to the table, be it speed, power, raw talent.
  9. It doesn't really bother me if someone wants to attack me. I am totally fine with it. In fact, i expected it. That's the reason why i left that last comment about being attacked on another board. I knew Willie would open up his mouth eventually in this post because he hung around the USAPREP board all the time and kept asking tom Lemming question after question after question and then would run to boards like BRR and BHF and run his mouth and act like he was an insider. His comment on here doesn't suprise me, and he's still ticked off at the fact i informed people of exactly how he is getting info "which by the way willie still wasn't considered insider info". The moment a recruit decides to go elsewhere, the person who originally posted the info suddenly becomes a liar. I learned my lesson from people the last time this happened and realize people will call you a liar or a fraud if you don't give them names. Go ahead, do what you want. You want to call me a fraud, then by all means. Just know i am sitting back and laughing, knowing its pissing you off that you cant suck the information off of me. When you need to know, you will know, plain and simple. As far as your post newearthhusker, no one said he couldn't go public with it, but the coaches as of right now are not taking his verbal serious because he has yet to even visit. It's one thing if he came here unofficially in the past or even attended a camp. It's another when he wants to commit and hasn't even visited yet. The reason in MY opinion of why the coaching staff wants him to wait is because they do NOT want to send the wrong message to other recruits we are after that we are suddenly not looking at them anymore because we got who we wanted at the particular position. What happens if he decommits after visiting and doesn't like Lincoln? We would be out on other recruits who were considering us in their top 3 or 5. The coaches are just covering their steps, and i wouldn't blame them.
  10. No suprise. On HTW, i had a long thread explaining the domino effect that would present itself if Javarris went to X team, Brandon Minor went to Y team and James Montgomery went to Z team. As of right now, where i predicted the guys to end up is on track. The only remaining targets still available that Nebraska is in on include Tracy Slocum and C.J Gable. Gable will end up at Ole Miss when it's all said and done because Ole Miss needs him bad. The ONLY option we have with him is if he looks at our depth at CB and he sees that we could use him instantly. One positive note on this is that Blake is recruiting him. Some people have asked if he is no longer on NU's radar. No, that's not the case. He is VERY much so on NU's RADAR. Nebraska won't go down without a fight for him. Other guys NU is recruiting very hard are of course Antwan Cobb and Tracy Slocum. There is one JUCO i would love to have, and a few people know who i am talking about because they have seen his video. He is a monster.
  11. Ty Willingham will be putting a thorn in USC's backyard. Everytime USC turns around, it will be either Nebraska or Washington in their backyard. USC wont be able to pile up all the talent it use the past couple of years.
  12. Nebraska's Bill Callahan isn't on the hot seat -- yet. But the Huskers must show improvement after missing the postseason last year for the first time since 1969 It's a short list of coaches who are on a bigger hot seat than Nebraska's Bill Callahan this fall. Sure, the expectations are through the roof for boy wonder Urban Meyer at Florida. And Charlie Weis, "Mr. Multiple Super Bowl Rings" himself, will be under the gun from day one at Notre Dame. But other than those two gentlemen, no one will face more scrutiny than Callahan, whose first team in Lincoln went 5-6 and didn't reach a bowl game. That's right, Nebraska was home for the holidays last year and the Cornhusker faithful started to ask "why" was Callahan brought into the program to replace the highly successful Frank Solich (58-19 career record at Nebraska). Solich won with a ground-based attack, just as Tom Osborne had before him. But, the school's powers that be saw how other traditional run-oriented schools (i.e. Oklahoma, USC, Texas and Georgia) had gone with more wide-open passing attacks with great success and they wanted to suit ----------------- Rest of Article is premium and requires subscription. 13. Was Southern Miss televised last year? I was at that game and left completely shocked at how terrible it was It was on ABC Was the Missouri self-destruction the last time we were on TBS, or was there another ugly showing you were hinting at? Yes TBS
  14. Just got word that Nebraska has received a verbal from a 4 start prospect. I won't say who it is or what position at the moment, mainly for 2 reasons. The first reason would make it obvious who it is. The second reason is the fact he has one team that is heavily after him and doesn't want to be pressured by the hometown fans. The coaching staff wants him to take the visit to Lincoln to make sure that's where he wants to be before they accept his verbal. He loves the coaching staff and has been a fan of Callahan since he was in Oakland according to him. He's got a few offers from some heavyweigfht programs and other top programs are on the brink of offering him. Just thought i throw this out there. And NO, i wont mention who it is because last time i said something, i got attacked by the whole board over the whole Nyan Boateng switching his decision at the last minute. All i will say is that he is from West Coast.
  15. Terrell Reese will be visiting. List updated to show 22 prospects as of 7/19. Other prospects who will be scheduling visits and have been confirmed are Chaz Washington, Dominque Franks and i also learned that Jordan McMichael and Troy Giddens are planning on visiting and will setup dates within the next couple of weeks. Josh Freeman from what it sounds like will be visiting the weekend of Sep 16TH, while D.J. Jones sounds like will be coming for an official visit the weekend. before The coaching staff is going to break up our highly ranked players in order to do some recruiting for us when other prospects visit. Smart move from the coaches. Better to spread your jam then shove it all in 1 pile.
  16. Chaz Washington will be visiting Nebraska for sure, but no date has been set. Once its official, i will update the list
  17. Yes i will add all the coaches once i get some free time later this week.
  18. The ONLY thing callahan should say about OU is "We will beat those Fing Hill billy's this year" and in regards to Texas Tech, "they better watch their backs cause we iz gonna knock dem out"and then head back to Lincoln
  19. I think you meant Texas in 96, not A&M

  21. I received a list of players each coach from NU is recruiting this year. I will have a bio on each coach and a list of players they are currently responsible for recruiting. I think you guys will enjoy it
  22. i have no clue where and how it was said according to this reporter. The reporter though better have his facts straight, otherwise the NCAA will want to know where that reporter reported his facts and ND will want to know when Wiess suposedly made those statements
  23. This is what life has become for Smith, who Weiss has publicly called the best linebacker in America Can we say NCAA violation? Coaches are not permitted to comments on recruits until after signing day. Somoene should give Weiss a NCAA recruiting manual
  24. Decisions, decisions Rome High’s Toryan Smith enters final season as one of the nation’s top college recruits 07/17/05 Erik Green, Rome News-Tribune Sports Writer Rome High senior football standout Toryan Smith has received 32 scholarship offers from some of the nation’s top college programs. D. Patrick Harding / Rome News-Tribune Toryan Smith grinned and passed around his cellular phone that was flipped open to a text message he’d just received. “You’re still one of our top guys,” read the message that concluded with salutations from new University of Florida coach Urban Meyer. That was the second message Smith, a rising senior at Rome High, had received from a college coach in three days. Notre Dame coach Charlie Weiss text-messaged him from the Major League Baseball All-Star game in Detroit just to say hello. NCAA rules prohibit college coaches from calling recruits before September, but they allow text messaging — technology at its best. This is what life has become for Smith, who Weiss has publicly called the best linebacker in America. Day-in and day-out letters pour in from every major school in the country, including Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Florida and Auburn. All totaled, Smith has 32 scholarship offers from Division I schools with Tennessee and Southern California expected to offer soon. So Smith must be walking on air knowing he could play anywhere in the country? “I don’t think it’s been as easy as people think,” said Charles Smith, Toryan’s father. “You take a guy who, from the first day of spring practice in eighth grade, has been a starter — it’s been a lot of pressure.” On top of that, Charles played on the University of Georgia’s 1980 National Championship team and most expected Toryan to follow behind him to Athens. But Toryan, who like hundreds of other Greater Rome prep players begin preseason workouts Monday, isn’t sold on the idea. In fact, he isn’t sold on anyone just yet. “I really am looking at the advantages and disadvantages of every school,” said Toryan, whose has official visits set up at Oklahoma, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Florida. “I want to keep my options open as long as I can and narrow it down as it gets closer to signing day.” Charles and Toryan decided it would be the best financially for the official visits to be made at schools out of basic driving distance. They plan to visit places like Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama in the fall, which are only a few hours away by car. Considering what they have gone through together over the years, waiting to name a school until they are certain about Toryan’s future is understandable. Father’s footprints To know Charles Smith is to love him, most would tell you. He wears a big grin most of the time to go along with his larger than life appearance. He was, by all accounts, a great football player at East Rome, although he would tell you he was more of a hard worker than an athlete. When you ask him about his work ethic and where it came from, giant tears stream down his face as he thinks about his grandparents who raised him. “They didn’t know much about football,” he said, as his bottom lip trembled. “But they had values. And I think I went through what I did so I could give that to (Toryan).” Football saved his life, Charles said, and he left it there — no need to expand. Football had saved a lot of kids before Charles and many since, so for those like him it is much more than a silly game. It is a means to an end, an open door to something many never experience: a family. And all Charles wants for his very talented son is for him to be a contributing member of the greater family. “First, I want him to be a good person,” Charles Smith said. “I like hearing people say Toryan is respectful and a hard worker. Doing well on the football field is gravy.” Early impressions Many people caught their first glimpse of Toryan as a ninth-grader at Rome High. He started on the defensive line for the first time in his life that year and was an honorable mention All-Area selection. The time between then and now has been a blur for both Toryan and Charles. “It came so fast,” Toryan said. “We used to talk about playing college football and so far, so good.” He never expected to be one of the top recruits in the country or having his picture featured in Oklahoma’s recruiting magazine. “I figured I would get a few regional looks,” he said. “But I’m getting calls from everywhere and it is a little overwhelming.” For Charles, who went through the recruiting process himself eons ago, the actions of schools like Florida and Notre Dame helped end his skepticism about the whole process. “When Urban Meyer and Charlie Weiss fly into Richard B. Russell airport at 7 in the morning tells me something,” Charles said. “That means they were up at 4 or 5 a.m. to get here. When they make that kind of effort to come see you, it’s amazing.” In a few months the text messages will likely drive Toryan crazy and the coaches will finally be able to call, adding to his misery. But you’ll never hear the shy 16-year-old complain about the attention. “Lots of people go to camps just to get one look from a college,” he said. “I would much rather deal with it than not. I do feel like I have a big target on my back. I just want to live up to the hype.” So far, so good. Link
  25. Correction. We actually had 53 official vistors last year, not 30. I forgot to look at the second page of our visits. Those 33 lead to 16 commitments while another player switched his decision and went to Oklahoma St (Calvin Mickens) I will give a comparison between a handful of programs and NU: Auburn: 33 official visits--> 20 commits Florida St: 37 official visits --> 23 commits USC: 30 official visits--> 14 commits Texas: 30 official visits--> 15 commits Ohio St: 30 official visits -->15 commits Miami: 31 official visits --> 13 commits Kansas St: 40 official visits -->25 commits Texas A&M: 34 official visits --> 16 commits Oklahoma: 52 official visits--> 26 commits
