  1. Texas already told him they have no more room, so it's really down to Michigan and USC and Michigan seems to be the odd on favorite to land him
  2. I just don't see him getting away from OU. My money is on OU
  3. This needs to be taken the woodshed seriously.
  4. Wait, i am confussed. Why would you want the hawks to win?
  5. Kansas St just signed up to play Louisville next season and Missouri inked Ohio (no not Ohio St) and Colorado inked Arizona St to play them as well. Should be some interesting games in the Big12 next year in addition to the USC/NU matchup, Ohio St/Texas matchup and Oregon/OU and Wash St/OU matchups. In addition, Kansas St will kickoff its Big12 schedule with a road game at Baylor. This is the 5th consecutive year Kstate starts Big12 play on the road. Someone at the Big12 office must really have it in for Kansas St.
  6. Fox Sports has NU ranked 17th in their early pre-season poll. However i don't know how they have Texas at 1, Florida St at 7 ( ), USC at 3? Tennessee at 9th? They weren't even ranked at the end of last season and didn't even go to a bowl game. Miami at 14 behind Tennessee? here is what they have about NU 17. Nebraska 2005 Record: 8-4 Why to get excited: The biggest wild-card coming into this season, Nebraska could very easily be that "next-step" program this year that becomes a superpower (again) like LSU a few years ago. Head coach Bill Callahan has done a tremendous job recruiting, and he won't be afraid to plug several new players in key positions. The light bulb went on late last year for QB Zac Taylor, and he has weapons to work with highlighted by talented young sophomore receiver Nate Swift. While All-America TE Matt Herian still has a long way to go after recovering from a broken leg, he should be back this year. The defense is loaded with young, fast, and talented players, especially in the linebacking corps. The schedule isn't all that bad except for ... Why to be grouchy: ... the September 16th game at USC. However, some might see this as Nebraska's chance to make a statement in the national title race. Diminutive RB Cory Ross was better than he ever got credit for, and there are a few key losses on defense, particularly in the secondary and on the line. Why Nebraska isn't listed among the national title contenders: Even if the Huskers get by USC, there's still a battle with Texas to deal with in mid-October. Even if they get by that, there's still a possible rematch with the Longhorns, or a showdown with an improved Oklahoma, in the Big 12 title game. Realistic, feet-on-the-ground, goal to shoot for: Big 12 champions The number one thing to work on is: Getting the running game going again. Callahan offense apologists went out of their way to say the new offense wasn't going to forget about the ground game, and then two years later the Huskers finished dead last in the Big 12 in rushing averaging a pathetic 96 yards per game. Biggest offensive loss: RB Cory Ross Biggest defensive loss: SS Daniel Bullocks More located here
  7. NU is on a 3 game losing streak which wont end untill they meet Kansas St in Lincoln in the game before the final regular season finale against Missouri
  8. Here are some screenshots i took. I did this quick just to show it's possible to do it without even concentrating 32.787 seconds
  9. Scouts rankings of recruits and teams is as laughable as a purple cow
  10. If he decommits one more time, he wins a free pair of underwear
  11. What does that first comment above you made have to do with Callahan and the topic? Are you trying to provoke something? Second of all, i don't care if you express your concerns or issues you might have with the coach, but when that becomes the ONLY thing YOU OR ANYONE else decides to do by ripping them new a-holes, that's when i have a problem with it. I come here to discuss ideas and opinions (positive and negative), not listen to CONSTANT negative comments thread after thread after thread. If i wanted to be around that sort of negativity, i would become a volunteer on a teen suicide hotline or join a group that talks about depression. Talking about why we didn't play touted freshman has what to do with Callahan. And lastly, what does this comment have to do with Callahan "which the thread is clearly about" ? Like i said..back to the TOPIC titled "Our Head Coach"
  12. I disagree. This game has a huge draw for Husker fans. We will be coming into this game with a 5 game winning streak. It's in LA instead of Podunk South Bend. And as much as I hate Notre Dame fans, I do think that there will be more SC fans looking to make a quick buck than the jack ass domers. I just feel there is way more buzz for this game than there was for the Notre Dame game. I predict a sea of red! I also think the price will drop much lower than $350 a couple weeks before the game (probably $150-$250). I think Chad was trying to say that USC fans unlike ND fans wont be going around scalping tickets and expects them to fill the coliseum, making tickets hard to come by
  13. Clone i can see your point of view. But you are forgetting you will have a somewhat inexperienced defense next season and unless both units are clicking good, that is a receipe for disaster. We all saw how good defenses win championships but we also saw how a good offense can also win a championship. Case in point Texas. Also the 17 of 22 returning you are referring to included newbies on the job. As the season went on, NU got better and better without it's main TE target. Without it's 2 main LB's. Other guys faded away due to injury (Chris Brooks, Frantz Hardy). I expect this game to come down to the wire unless the ISU team we are facing has just lost it's games against Texas and Iowa by 14 points or more.
  14. Anyways to get this thread back on topic, i think Callahan's approval rating is much more higher then the President's approval rating. In MY OPINION, he has embarced the Nebraska tradition and is taking small steps towards a brighter future REGARDLESS if some people can see it or not. Those of us that have a positive outlook on life can see those babysteps and that's why we are being patient while being attacked by the pessimist who look for every negative little detail to use as ammo and fail to realize that Coach Callahan is a human being who regardless whether he admits it or not makes mistakes. I deploy the philosophy "forgive, forget, and move on".
  15. I don't know about that. I could see us scheduling a home-home series with N.C State. The wolfpack aren't a lower tier team, but they also aren't a powerhouse team. I would put them as the equivlant of Iowa in the Big10 or Cal in the Pac-10 or even Texas Tech in the Big12. I think that would be a great matchup. N.C State always has one of the top 10 defenses on a consistant basis year in and year out
  16. South Carolina knocked off 5th ranked Florida, sending them to their second consecutive loss. Reminds me when Illinois lost their first game, they lost the second one as well. Seems like teams that suffer a big loss like that usually need a couple of games to regroup.
  17. People are forgetting 1 main thing. NOT many lower DIV-A schools havev any openings to play NU. Every single team that can afford to pay another team to come play them at home is rushing to fill that 12th spot You have 117 Div-A schools (well 119 actually with the 2 new schools from Florida) and roughly half of those are scheduling the other half, and when that team isn't playing the power schools that can afford to bring them in for a paycheck, they are playing another power school the following weekend. Some have suggested other teams. Just to give people an idea why we picked Nickelodeon state and not something else is because Cincinatti's schedule is full (Ohio St, Vtech, Miami-Ohio) Connecticut schedule is full (Wake Forest, Indiana, Navy) Rutgers schedule is full (Illinois, Navy, North Carolina) Syracuse schedule is full (Illinois, Iowa, Miami-Oh) Akron schedule is full (Penn St, N.C State) Toledo schedule is full (Iowa St, Pitts, Kansas) Northern Illinois schedule is full (Ohio St, Iowa) Temple schedule is full (Minnesota, Auburn, Clemson) Utah St schedule is full (Oregon, Arkansas, Utah) etc....... The list goes on and on and on. People are forgetting that these lower DIV-A schools are not going to schedule 3, 4 tough teams in 1 season. They themselves are fighting just to make a bowl game at the end of the season. Heck, even they can afford to pay DIV-AA teams to come play them. I am sure Nickelodeon state wasn't SP first choice, but when you have limited time and limted teams that want to come play you, there's nothing you can do
  18. I dont see KU hanging with NU if NU beats USC. KU in my opinion will win games against teams like Missouri, Kansas St and possibly Colorado but not against Nebraska. Although i dont expect KU to lose this game by more then 20 points
  19. In my opinion, looking at who ISU returns from starters on offense (i will break that down in a few days or so), not just defense, this game will be closer then some people think. The game is in Ames and NU just recently started doing good on the road (Michigan, CU). If we lose this game, it will set us back in my opinion. We need this W more then anything next year if we are going to start improving. This is the year NU should make a serious run for a BCS bowl at the least. I expect us to make the Big12 title game. Anything less then that is a dissapointment.
  20. From my understanding, the coaches are pretty much done recruiting for this class. They will take the weekend off and begin breaking down more film on current juniors and begin offering them over the next few weeks
  21. Couldn't have said it any better Willie, specially the first paragraph
