  1. So you stuck around thru the dark ages (the Callahan years) and now you want to quit? Whatever dude, do what you want

I personally do not have a problem with Bo and his temper. I've played for guys like that and really it was no problem. That said, I do think he needs to tone it down for three reasons....

    1. Recruiting - There is no way his temper does not hurt recruiting. I don't know if the kids think much about it but parents see that stuff and they go crazy.

    2. I don't know what to call this one, but it seems like whenever Bo loses it, the kids do too. They are just kids and I think they need a steadier hand - someone to tell them to keep going when things start to fall apart.

    3. The refs - No way can you tell me the refs don't make calls against because Bo pisses them off. It happens a lot. The phantom PI call on Green or Evans in the second half of the bowl game is a perfect example.

  2. Can you link to his JC profile? I couldn't find it, that would be really helpful. It does say he is a pro-style QB. His film seems to show some scrambling, but not great speed. He does look primarily like a drop-back passer, but one who can move the pocket. (i.e, Aaron Rodgers runs his fair share, but would hardly be called a running QB)

Here's some film. Not sure if it's HS or JUCO. My guess is JUCO judging by the stadium size, but I guess you never know.

that's a sick move by WR #11 at about the 3:40 mark

  3. Looks like quality walk-on material to me. He's definitely got some speed. Not sure how quick he is off the ball but I would think you could get him a little stronger and make him a solid DE or maybe even a TE. For as big and as fast as he appears to be, I would think he could at least be a decent coverage team guy.

  4. I am concerned. I wonder how much of it is the kids and how much is the parents? I just wonder if Bo's reputation as a hothead isn't starting to take its toll on recruiting. Nebraska is Nebraska but it shouldn't be this hard to pull in good kids when there are lots of opportunities for playing time at quite a few positions. I like Bo but I can see it being real easy to recruit against us.

  5. I am losing some faith in B1G leaders for various reasons. They continue to be slow to adapt to changing times. I guess it is a midwestern thing. They are only 12-16 years behind other conferences in adding a CCG. Not adding more teams is debateable. No night games in Nov is bad marketing. I doubt they will change their scheduling system. I am sure it pains some B1G leaders to not have the two months off between the season and bowl games.

Agreed. They could do away with some of the 11am games.

  6. 1. Take out Fisher & Compton. They are to slow to contain D-Rod. Make David play spy on D-Rod. Play Martin at DE.

    2. Run the edges. Lots of option & zone read plays. Mix in a few med pass plays to strech the field.

    3. I differ to GoBlueM - not that fimilar with their special teams.

    4. We have very similar teams, but we have the better Special Teams. Our Defense is better then theirs when they show up.

Michigan only plays as good as D-Rod. He is the 2nd best duel threat QB in the Nation (RG3 is the best)

Disagree about Compton. Lately Compton has been playing great and he has been flying around.

He seems to do well when he's allowed to attack the line of scrimmage but yeah he struggles out in space against more athletic guys

  7. I will say this.... NU will only get over this recruiting issue if they can win with regularity and play with fire in so doing. Until then, they really will lose ground every year (or... stay stagnant relative to OSU, Wisconsin, Michigan, MSU). Thus, they will have to win with the players they have now...

That means NU will have to over-achieve --- and do so a great deal. Then, with the over-achieving NU team putting up attractive performances with regularity, they will attract better talent and we will begin to catch up some.

The problem is, NU is --- if anything --- an under-achiever.

I know. I know. People do not think that the "Bo must go" crowd have legitimate points --- and, perhaps it is a bit too early to head there --- but.... all indications are that NU is not improving, is not playing with fire, is under-prepared, has scheme and fundamentals problems, and is under achieving. A continuation of these problems --- especially in this context of being new in the B1G --- will be devastating to recruitment (a recruitment process that is still early in the process but seemingly is going badly) --- well...

This has to be turned around soon. And there is no real indication that the arrow is even pointed in the right direction (that is, NU may be digressing rather than progressing). How much longer can NU afford to let this happen? If --- and I guess it is a debatable issue --- but if NU is digressing in terms of on-field performance --- then the longer NU waits to invoke a change , the further NU falls behind in the future (as the ever-increasing recruiting gap favoring the B1G top programs will confound the problem further)

Again... NU needs to over-achieve with the players they have now... or the gap will get larger with time rather than smaller. That is certainly not happening. NU sitting on its hands and watching this for too long would be.... not good. How long to wait... debatable... but something must change major... soon.

I agree with you but it's regress not digress

  8. Yeah it looked like they came out playing basically a 5-2 with compton and david as linebackers and meredith and martin as stand up ends so they essentially had 3 d tackles. I think it worked pretty well stopping the running game actually. Hall didnt do anything and the other back had really just that one big run which was a blown play by andrew green. Obviously it didnt stop miller from running around but I don't think it was designed to stop that and I think he did most of his damage on 3rd down when we had switched back to a nickel or standard 4-3.

  9. It doesn't matter but he made it. It looked like everyone on the field thought it was good. The coaches thought it was good. I thought it was good at first and it still looked good on replay. You don't see too many blown calls on FG's but they did seem to have short posts. Oh well, sucks for Maher.
