  1. Top of the 8th, 1-1 after NU pulled Sears in the bottom of the 6th and Baylor's first batter against the relief drove their runner in with a double. Relief got out of that inning, then forced a double play in facing 3 batters in the bottom of the 7th. NU hitters haven't done much, Top of the 8th, first batter HBP, then two outs, before Baylor brings in their 4th pitcher. Carey with another RBI double, then Walk, then lineout to RF.

Huskers up 2-1 after the top 8th

  2. Can watch at least the first game without a sub to FloBaseball:

Poor call by the umps on a throw to first that wasn't overturned in the 2nd (though it might have been a consistency thing as the same thing supposedly happened to Baylor in their half of the 1st).

0-0 so far in the bottom of the 2nd. Only baserunners have been a couple of walks for Nebraska.

The presser just ended and there's a lot of good info that came from it. However according to Rhule, Micah Mazzccua isn't living up to the day to day expectations... Hopefully that turns around quickly now that it's out there.

From this, it sounds like an older guy used to doing it one way at different programs needing to learn the expectations of his new one.

There are a lot worse bumps on drives throughout games that don't get called.

Think the play in OT where we're down or up 1 and Shannon is on Mast where Mast post him up and then misses his hook/layup is similar to the Wilcher foul, but it wasn't called and there was no replay for a better look.

The team should have played better coming out of half and done better rebounding, but it's hard to look at that when there are a number of examples where the refs were calling different games on each ends of the court.

Wisconsin fans crying about the refs is just hilarious to me. They had one of the dirtiest, scummiest players for 5 years who got away with murder. They don't get to talk about the refs for a least a decade lol

Their coach directly addressed this after the game in his press conference (fouls called on NU in the second half). Bottom line, they spent the entire second half on the perimeter and didn't attack enough/play through he post like they did that prevented foul opportunities like in the first half.

Then you have a general incompetency of the refs in general.

I know Raiola's team came back and won bc that is what my brother told me but what were his final stats for the game? My brother wasn't really impressed with Raiola and how he performed in the game from what he told me.  Said it threw a pick in the game as well.  I know he is playing against good competition bc it's a all star game but I'm not looking too deep into it considering some starters didn't have time to practice and showed up mid week to play.  Just trying to get a understanding on how he played out there.

He had a number of drops of good passes in the first half that looked like his TD throw above (good placement, throws that were just dropped). His pick was pretty bad where the WR kept running a fly and Dylan threw to where the WR would be if they ran a back shoulder to the sticks (but the throw didn't have any pace). Started switching back and forth the the Wrestling Duel, so I didn't see his entire 2nd half performance, but he threw some balls to the end zone that were either uncatchable by anyone (not the best as you want your guy to score a TD, but also placed where it couldn't be intercepted unless by some unreal play by the defender).

Saban's losses to Osborne were by scores of 50-10 and 55-14. Lol.

But  Saban was actually pretty mediocre at Michigan State, which few people seem to remember. It wasn't until LSU that he became a good coach, and Alabama that he became great.

Was he mediocre? Or were those teams bad and he pulled them up?

One benefit for Nebraska going 5-7 in year one is that he's far enough down the ladder of being wanted and that Rhule has only been here for a year and any programs equivalent that might get their coaches poached are probably not going to have the resources NU has in place to pull him from the school (crossing fingers).

Nebraska dominated this category with 5 states #1.  I don't see any other team with more than 3.

On a side note, did they quit playing football in NM and ID??

Edited - those kids just haven't committed yet.  NM best is a 3 star linebacker and ID best is a 4 star wide receiver committed to Michigan but hasn't signed yet.

Idahos is Bair isn’t it? Superfast, but plans on going on a mission.

  9. So a confirmation from the Sunday WH about the Dylan commitment, Dylan’s kind of apolitical with college teams. Doesn’t sound like he had/has a favorite growing up, but he felt the pull to be the guy to turn the program around and be THE guy in Lincoln over being another cog in Georgia because of the families past with the school. Dayton, though, bleeds red and has been a fan of Nebraska his whole life.

I’d feel pretty confident about Dayton being our ‘26 QB.

Plus, our s&c is under new direction.

Underrated comment. Benhart looked like he had lead feet until this year. He still has issues with speed rushers, but he was much improved everywhere else. Also it appears that the team called plays to protect the OTs more than Whipple did in '22 (chip blocking, keeping more people in to protect).
