  1. For the B1G, if Missouri and Kansas are both in the hunt for new homes. Not saying it *will* happen, but *if* the B1G decides to expand, and Kansas is on the market, our biannual Nebraska migration game could be back on. I think that ira is referring to the confusion stemming from the thread title, "KU is a better fit for Big XII than Missouri," when it would seem to be intended as " KU is a better fit for B1G (Big Ten) than Missouri"
  2. Someone who can make effective in-game adjustments and effectiv adjustments to the talent on the roster
  3. I'm very much in agreement with you. I do think we keep those spots open for Hill, OO, and Cooper, and really should. Would be great if we had the room for another JUCO O-Line and possible QB commit, but with our lack of scholarships this year, I do realize that would be quite the stretch. Bit of a shame we're under the scholarship crunch we are this year, we could sure use all the help we could get on that side of the ball as we all know!
  4. So looks like I've been beaten to the punch on this topic (again:P) so if mods feel this should be merged with the other topic on this forum than go for it, but with the recent de-commits of offensive players, combined with our woes on offense and clear need for IMMEDIATE help at certain positions on offense (and now sounding like the strong possibility of impending changes in the coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball), what does everyone think about going for a couple more offensive JC recruits to infuse us with more short term, immediate needs? I realize we have a couple we are looking at currently, and have very few scholarships remaining (and definitely should still try to keep room for OO and Austin Hill, IMHO), but I also feel going after maybe an additional offensive lineman or even a quality, heady, gamer of a QB who actually has some LEADERSHIP ability would be a gamble to consider taking. I certainly don't want us turning into K-State Community College by any means, but I think this year is a bit of an exception, and we all know Bo has made a point of recruiting as many HS players as possible and building a program around them, which is definitely the way to go in my opinion. But sometimes you just have to do what it takes to win and make a few exceptions along the road. And besides, it's not like we're talking half a recruiting class full of JUCO's here or anything. Curious--what are your thoughts?
  5. Haha I like the way you think, and I totally agree--it is a fun offense to watch. And what I think is most amazing about it is GT has fully implemented it, heck, almost perfected it, in the 2 years they have ran it. Even last year, their first year running it, they looked very smooth running it. Of course that offense, like any offense, has its drawbacks (mainly when you are playing from behind by a signifigant margin), but I'm in agreement with you when you wonder what could have been--it is a dangerous offense, no doubt. That's another aspect I find attractive about the pistol--Chris Ault's inspiration for the offense was none other than our own Huskers running the option out of the shotgun. I can't remember if it was the '95 or '97 championship team (you'll find sources online that credit both, and it's been too long since I've seen either bowl to know which we actually ran it in more), but Ault wanted to add more of a power running punch to his team against the WAC's high powered passing attacks at the time.
  6. You're right--why should we fans offer any sort of constructive insight on our emaculate offense? Surely the hodgepodge scheme we are running now will have us back at the top in no time!
  7. Haha, touche--although at this point I think we'd all be happy with just about, well, ANY offense:P
  8. Interesting you brought this up--I was actually going to start a topic on this, but you beat me to the punch. I've been a lurker on here for quite some time now, and finally decided to go ahead and register today. IMHO, with the offensive personnel we currently have at our disposal, and with what we are likely to have in the next couple of years, I think the pistol could be the perfect formation for us. It is pracitcally tailor made for what we are, and for the direction Bo seemingly wants to take the offense in the future. The backs are lined up closer to the line of scrimmage with an emphasis on the rush, and allows for dual threat quarterbacks to make quicker reads in the passing game. You can also throw a fullback into the mix for extra blocking power, run double tight ends, split backs, etc. Plus I believe it is an offense which can be picked up on rather quickly (relatively speaking, anyways--certainly quicker than "other" offenses we have tried running here in recent history:P). Of course it really doesn't matter what sort of offense we choose to run in the future if we don't have a line that is blocking effectively, or have players executing and making the plays they should be. I'd hate to see all these great future OL recruits, and young running backs we have accumulated wasted by sub-par coaching on the offensive side of the ball, and lack of a real offensive identity. I'm not intending to jump the gun and call anybody out too soon, I realize we have a young offensive unit and have had our share of injuries to contend with this year. But unless Watson, Cotton and Co.'s offense shows marked improvement over these next couple of games and into next season, I believe it definitely would be at least in the realm of reason to consider running a pistol style offense. Our defense is already getting there as we all know--we just need an offense that is "ours" to hang our hat on.
