  1. I don't think it will happen, but that does not mean that it shouldn't. If McCoy and Texas upset Bama, it's his to lose IMO. If Bama rolls the Horns, Ingram has a good shot at it. Suh has been the best and most dominating player in college football this year, but I doubt he gets it even though he deserves it more than anyone.
  2. Cody Green is NOT bad. He's a FRESHMAN (caps used to emphasize a point, not to offend you). He's going to be a very good QB at Nebraska, IMO. Just give him time. What true Freshman QB's can you think of, without looking it up, have had good true Freshman seasons in a BCS conference? Barkley was the #1 recruit and had a load of talent surrounding him and yet he still struggled MIGHTILY for big chunks of the season. I know the offense is subpar but really, there's zero reason to panic about Cody Green. He's going to be good, he was a 4* recruit for a reason, but furthermore, Bo Pelini brought him to Nebraska for a reason as well. In short... Relax.
  3. well Clausen doesn't have Nebraska's defense. Barkley is still a Freshman and i'm saying by next year he'll be great, as much as i hate to say it. I just hate how everybody is giving up on Cody Green. "we need Tyler Gabbert next year!" stuff like that. Green will be a great QB here, and we learned this year that a decent offense will make us a great team. It's laughable, man. Guys here are giving up on Cody Green. I remember reading his recruit profile here, and guys were so amazingly happy that he came to NU... but less than one year on campus as a true freshman BACKUP and people are writing him off already. I just don't understand the impatience. This is not a video game, young QB's take time to develop... Name me a few three or four year STARTERS who set the world on fire right away. You find me some, and all you're finding is the exceptions to the rule!
  4. Why are some people already giving up on Cody Green? Wow, that's just puzzling as hell. Matt Barkley was the top rated freshman QB - look how he strugged on a team that has loads of talent. USC had a down year but the talent was still insane and Barkley struggled mightily at spots during the year. People want too much, too fast. Give Green a shot!
  5. Hey Green, Nebraska needs a new quarterback, new running backs, new recievers, new offensive line and mostly new coaches who have anything to do with trying to run an offense. And if Osborne won't hire new guys we need a new A.D. also. And if a new A.D. won't do it we need new people at the top of the University administration... Helu and Burkhead aren't going to be good enough?
  6. I think that you'd find most people have very little in the way of an issue with Tim Tebow the man or even just Tim Tebow the football player. What most people tend to take issue with is the media circus that has surrounded him and constantly, consistently, day and day out, every day of the week and twice on Sundays with chocolate syrup and a cherry on top... shoved him down everyone's throat as some sort of football god for the last few years...Tim Tebow the 2nd Coming of Christ (Quarterback Edition) is loathed by most people because they are just sick of hearing about how wonderful he is. He's a good college player (if not one of the best ever, at least among the most successful) and I wish him much success in the NFL. That said I'll be glad to one day soon go 24 hours without hearing the lovefest regarding him or the Florida Gators. I get that, I really do. I am a Husker fan but living in Washington, I am also a Washington Huskies fan. I believe Jake Locker is a more talented football player than Tebow but Locker has not had the luxury of having massive amounts of talent surrounding him year in and year out. Locker does get praise NOW, but before he was a no-name QB on a horrendous team. I can understand getting tired of hearing Tebow's name, but really, some people just seem to hate the guy and they want nothing more than to see him fail. Also the religious jabs they take at him are utterly classless (I don't see that here).
  7. This. Judging Cody Green on whether he's the future or not right now is very shortsighted.
  8. I think it's more everyone just got tired of ESPN acting like he was the best QB ever and so much coverage of him all the time. Yeah, I can see that - but... Tebow has nothing to do with that. By all accounts, he seems like a pretty humble guy. I just think the hate, or dislike for him is a bit puzzling. But I know it's probably nothing 'personal' with most people... Jealousy does breed comtempt and Tebow has had a massive amount of success at UF.
  9. Thanks for the info. Yeah, Green probably shouldn't be the starter next year... but you never know. If he has a good offseason and solid fall practice, he just might be.
  10. Hmmm... I am just curious guys, and I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever, but why is there so much contempt for Tebow? The guy cried after a hard fought game... It happens. Heck, I cried after my last high school basketball game during my senior year. Sports are emotional at times. He was 100% gracious in defeat, congratulating Alabama and praising them, and wishing them luck in the National Title game... Tebow does not have a big mouth, he plays hard, seems respectful and stands firm for his beliefs. So my question is, why do so many people rejoice in his defeat or make fun of him for showing emotion? Honestly just curious and again, no disrespect intended.
  11. I am a Nebraska fan living in Tri Cities, Washington. My dad is from Taylor, Nebraska and he is a die hard Husker fan. I've always been a fan, though admittedly I haven't followed the Huskers all that closely over the past few years. I saw a thread earlier about needing Gabbert... My question is, are expectations pretty low for Cody Green? What does he need to work on? He was highly touted coming out of HS, but it seems that maybe not a lot of people are excited about the possibility of him being the starter next year... Thanks for any opinions... I'm just wanting to get back in the loop!
