  1. Blackshirts don't give up 62 FCCKING POINTS. They need to wear plain white undershirts this week, and every week until they stop embarassing the proud tradition of the Blackshirts. ... Yeah, I'm bitter AF rn, I hate getting embarrased, and I want some goddamned accountability.
  2. 59 Points? You don't lose by 59 points at Nebraska. NEBRASKA DOESN'T LOSE BY 59 f'ing POINTS. Yes, we have a lot of things working against us - esepcially on the injury front (Glad TA made it back tonight). Yes, we have a lot of hope for the future. This staff is doing really fun things on the recruiting front, and that's exciting to watch. YOU DON'T COME TO NEBRASKA, AND THEN LOSE BY 59 f'ing POINTS. Northwestern didn't get embarassed. Wisconsin didn't get embarassed. But we did. My fear here is that Mike is too nice of a guy to really take a critical look at his staff, and really understand what it takes to be a championship-caliber team. Whether or not that's a standard that's a few seasons off or 10, that is the standard here - and we need to always show that we're progressing towards that. Read needs to be gone, he's a disgrace and a waste of half a million dollars. Bankers needs to get his ass kicked out the door - YOU DON'T GIVE UP 62 f'ing POINTS AT NEBRASKA> And if the defense wears 'black shirts' out to practice this week, than they're pooping all over a proud tradition that is older than they are. /rant over.
  3. I can only speak for myself, but it's certainly killed any and all interest I had in shipping off to a bowl game. Call me a fairweather if you like, but a bowl game is a big expensive trip, not only tickets/hotel/airfare/etc but also missed days of work and the like, so it has to absolutely be a worthwhile investment, and I'm not convinced it will be. The biggest concern I have is that a lot of players feel the same sense of disappointment and embarrassment that all of us fans do, and I'm not sure if there's even a way, regardless of time, to really get everyone motivated to go out and REALLY show up for a game (See our rematch vs. Washington) and quite frankly, it's not worth it to take off and watch a lack-luster performance, I'd rather be disappointed at home and keep my money. Flame away, it's how I feel right now.
  4. AWWWWWWWW YEAH. Riot Punch baby, for when you are POSITIVE you don't want to remember anything about the game.
  5. Under 3.5 - receptions by Jamal Turner Over, A solid 4th quarter lead gives way to a bit more creativity from the offense, and more throwing plays to get Taylor and the boys comfortable. Over/Under 5: The amount of times the announcers mention that Southern Miss *almost* didn't make the game because of the hurricane (also: Shots of Hattiesberg during the storm)
  6. There's plenty of parking - you just might have to pay for it . There are a lot of lots around ranging anywhere from $5-20 for event parking, obviously they get more expensive the closer you get to the stadium. The city parking garages are $18 for an all day pass, and don't usually fill up that fast, there's also a lot of street parking available. Given that it's an early game, I actually think you'll have an easier time finding parking as lots of the businesses downtown that attract guests won't be busy until after the game. As far as where to go, I can't recommend the Single Barrel enough, actually noted as the best postgame spot in Lincoln (http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/americas-best-college-football-stadiums/7), they'll also have the sidetrack band playing, which does cfb-themed parody songs. If you head downtown to O street, between about 13th and 15th, you'll get all the college bars, if that's your scene. There's a few good lounges around (Marz, Zen's), and some great restaurants down in the haymarket.
  7. " 'N' stands for National Championships; all 5 of them "
  8. Lazlo's is a great local place, as is Misty's. For sure try to get to the stadium to check out the trophy room and all-around great atmosphere there (Not trying to by pompous, but even I stand in awe before national title and heisman trophies, and I'd never pass up an opportunity to see them). As far as bar hopping goes, Single Barrel is very close to the game, and boasts one of Lincoln's oldest tailgate traditions: The Sidetrak band, which plays parody covers with football/Husker/B1G/F***the Big 12 themes, haha. Other than that, Brewsky's is a great local chain of sports bars.
  9. FYI, The Sidetrak band no longer plays at the Sidetrak bar, but rather they'll either be playing at the Hr. Lounge (14th/O) or at the old Boomer's Printing Building (10th/P) which is quickly being remodeled into a bar, there was an article in the LJS about it a week ago.
  10. Yeah, that video was an amateur production, and it showed. But as has already been mentioned: it's the first production this group has done, and to be honest, the song itself isn't terrible, even if it is a bit campy. I'm glad the University, and I'm hoping we and the rest of the fans, get behind movements like this so that future videos and events can get the budget/directors/work that they deserve to be something we can all really be proud of. Oh, and I personally want to see more of the WoW kid, I kept waiting for him to break it down the whole time, and was sadly disappointed when he appears to just be camera candy .
  11. Dear baby Jesus, Please send me a device that allows me to punch people through the internet Good lookin' out, dawg. Craiggers
  12. and one other quick note: If these kids think they have it bad, there's always the military. I joined the Marines at 18, and spent 4 years in the infantry. Don't EVER tell me that these 20/21 year old players can't take a rough life-style or an as*-chewing as warranted, trust me, they'll live, and Bo is only almost as scary as he could be if he wanted
  13. Good read. I'm also reminded of an anecdote someone passed around last year concerning Bo's first meeting with Ndamukong Suh when Pelini took over at Nebraska, and I remember him saying something along the lines of: "You stink. You aren't as good as you think you are...but you could be, you could be better" (Citation needed, not a direct quote) and I remember loving Bo for saying that. This isn't the SEC, we aren't going to cry for and pander to primadonna superstars and kids who think they have earned anything, around here, you're only worth as much as you're willing to put into the program and sacrafice for it, and I love that. Calm down a bit, Bo. But for the sake of all that is holy, don't change.
  14. Driving home this evening, I heard Dick Janda (1480 - "The Bench" show host) drop this bomb on us... Guess who will be calling this Friday's game for ABC? You already know what's coming: Ed Cuntingham and company. Didn't ABC get the message? Here's at least one Husker fan hoping a local radio sync's up their broadcast with the tv feed like they did a few weeks ago. LOLZ!
  15. I've always assumed that the reason the players rushing the punter (and his blockers) don't push through with much intensity is that the penalties for hitting a kicker while he's kicking/punting are severe, and since the whole point of letting the other team punt is so that your team gets the ball... a penalty giving them a first down kinda defeats that purpose. So it's almost not worth the risk, your team is gonna get the ball anyway, concentrate on getting as much of a good return as you can. At least that's always been my thought about the subject, not sure if it's correct or not.
