  1. Tressel is very interesting. The thing that bothers me more than his show-cause is the fact that he's 60. That could be 5 years here, if successful, it could be 15. Hypothetically, what it could do is give Frost more time to season and possibly be the next hire when Tressel would leave. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Tressel gets us back on the map, winning, and instills a culture here. He sticks around for 5-6 years, wins "something", and then when he retires, our HC prospects are a lot more fruitful than they would be right now. It even gives us the possibility of hiring a proven Scott Frost, that way we don't have to experiment with him as first time HC. Frost will be gone in two years, tops. But where? Not to a destination school. Now let me just say I don't care much for The Vest, but if this plan outlined above plays out over the next, say, 5-7 years, the theory is that a big name coach like The Vest would bring NU back to being competitive. Let's just be conservative here and say The Vest can keep NU a consistent top 15 school, sometimes in the top ten, maybe getting to the top 5 on occasion, but even after losses staying in the top 15 most, if not all, of the time. That would make the Huskers a national power again. Maybe not a Bama, but a team that you have to prepare for. If The Vest can maintain the program at that level, going to BCS bowls and being a tough opponent week after week, then Nebraska would be an attractive job after those 5-7 years. Why would a guy like Frost, probably coaching MAC or AAC or Sun Belt or some crap like that, not take the job? I'd like to get a guy now that would stick around a quarter century, but that's just not likely. In the scenario proposed with The Vest, Frost would most definitely be available after the 5-7 years assuming The Vest retires.
  2. I agree. His whole half season. Point they're making is that he's a hot prospect right now. He wouldn't make a lateral move to OC for Nebraska given his success thus far as Oregon. They aren't saying that makes him qualified to HC Nebraska. It makes far more sense for him to stay at Oregon and be successful there and get a HC job in the future than making a lateral move to a school in trouble. How long he's been there makes no difference to this particular argument. To him being a HC next season? Sure it matters. But to the perception of him as a coaching candidate, it doesn't matter how long he's been there. People consider his future to be bright. He won't make a lateral move. That's all that's been said in these few posts.
  3. As a sour Dodger fan, I haven't been watching the Series, but I saw the replay and Boston's 3B wasn't even in the baseline. Really takes a major dickwad to make that call, but luckily for St. Louis, they had one handy in Jim Joyce.
  4. It might not be his choice... a couple more losses and his seat will be warm again. The fans in Athens want a change. As for Saban, he is not coming here. Texas will match any offer we'd make to him and up it. So you want NU to hire someone who (hypothetically) got fired for not producing enough to get Georgia to be a consistent, top-level BCS school and repeatedly getting outclassed by inferior opponents? Also...
  5. Yeah, Oregon has a great thing going on for them, but let's not go overboard and start thinking Scott Frost was the mastermind behind it. Might he have strong managerial skills and be HC material? Maybe...but bringing him here isn't going to be bringing in Oregon's system on offense. And after what we've seen out of Bo I think we can agree that even the superstar coordinators need a lot more going for them to sustain that level of play on one side of the ball over the years. Who else would we get though? The state of the program the way it is, Frost would probably be a home run hire. He has Nebraska roots and that would be about the only thing that would make us even attractive to a guy like Frost.
  6. Seriously - no. Just stop. You can't hire all the 1990s players as coaches and expect the magic to come back. We have to stop with this. Have you seen Oregon play offense? Frost was also in charge of recruiting at least some of the talent they have now.
  7. For real? Bell skies for it and gets two finger tips to it and it's KBs fault? Ok. Two finger tips? LMAO two hands is not fingertips. Are you seriously saying a WR shouldn't be expected to catch that? Watch the replay. No, if he brings that down it's a great play but he's not super human. It was a bad pass and that's why it wasn't caught. just did, went through his hands. should of been caught. I'm glad you disagree with me. Now I'm even more sure I'm right. Thank you for easing my mind.

  10. Someone tell Beck to keep running that facemask play. It's our most consistent offensive threat.
  11. You care to explain this post? sure. Our defense sucks and they are very weak both mentally and physically. Attack the coaches not the kids, calling them spineless pieces of sh#ts isn't acceptable. We've said this as a board numerous times..................take some time off. Ban hammer in full force, eh? It is when you say dumb things like that! This is obviously on the coaches....................be critical of their play, but call them pieces of sh#t and that's just not acceptable. I'm just saying, plenty of people have blamed Taylor, blamed Thad Randle, etc. None of us are having a great time watching this game. Sure that was a bit harsh but seriously we're all pretty pissed off at this point.

  13. No, this is the game where we adjust and do what we're capable of doing. "Adjust"? That's cute.
  14. You care to explain this post? I think it's fairly self explanatory. What is it exactly? I don't know. But I get it.
  15. Don't let drives stall, put points on the board, make Minny pass= defense playing better. Thank you. I hate when pedestrian football fans make fools of themselves not understanding the relationship between the two.
  16. I don't get the "Taylor looks rusty" posts. He looks just like he always has. At least since the first 5 games of his freshman year. If anyone has a brain on the staff, he just played his last down for the Huskers. I appreciate his commitment to the program and all, but at a certain point it's time to cut our losses.
  17. That's some serious hyperbole but it's hard to make a case that they're qualified to be at a program that wants to consistently be in the top 10-15 teams in the nation. Third and three, they can't stop the run, so we pass and there's the end of the drive. That's on Beck. Lucked out on the facemask.
  18. Lol. Beck is not nearly as bad as you think. Really? Because I've seen him kill two drives already by passing when Minnesota can't stop the run. This happens every game.
  19. Westerkamp is a cool guy eh catch the ball and doesn't afraid of anything.
  20. Well, it's really simple, Knapp. We're Nebraska, they're Minnesota. They should just lay down for us, we shouldn't have to earn it. It's not that, it's a complete lack of adjustment and poor defensive planning.
  21. Not just you. The last 3 1/2 years back up that opinion.
