Because it is only a foul if they enter the field and "participate" in the play. Running on to the field is not participating in the play. Illegal Participation might not be the right penalty, but too many players on the field or something? Regardless of whether or not they are participating in the play, you can't have players & coaches on the field during a live play. I know that it didn't affect the play, but it would have been called at any other point in the game so it should be called at the end as well. The rules don't change for the last minute of play. & to the earlier reply, you are correct that we are now even for the Michigan game. I would prefer a BIG 12 Championship though over an Alamo Bowl victory during the Callahan era???

I'm new to the board but had to mention this since no one else has. Texas has 30-40 players on the field before the kick goes through the uprights. Why wasn't there an illegal participation penalty called. This should have been a 15 yard penalty making the attempt 61 yards. Go to youtube & watch the kick, pretty much as the ball is snapped, there are players & coaches on the field. By the time the ball actually goes through the uprights, there are 30-40 players/coaches on the field. This would be called at any other time during a game, it should be called at the end as well. The officials got the 1 second left correct but they clearly blew this one. Some of the players even run right past the sideline official. The Big 12 can't dispute this like they can the 1 second. Where is the outrage at this game changing non-call????
