I'd be interested to keep seeing more stuff come out about how the actual mechanics of the game work, because I'm fairly certain that two different players don't find the same pokemon in the same places. Was sitting on my porch with some friends last night and used an incense to draw pokemon, caught 4-5, but the others around me didn't ever see anything.

In other news, I evolved a Pidgeotto into a PIdgeot today, and tried going to the gym on the corner of Lincoln Square in Chicago. I promptly realized that there are people who have not stopped playing this for a single second since it came out because I didn't stand a chance.

I wonder if the incense only applies to your account, but the wild pokemon are consistent for various areas.....

Can I play this game without the camera on my phone? It's been malfunctioning and hasn't worked for awhile now.

Yes. It asks for 4 different permissions. The only one I allowed was my location.

Ok. I know there's a function to see the Pokemon in your camera as you attempt to catch them, but I didn't know if that was necessary or not. Thanks!

  3. How long before one of these Pokemon Go kids steps in front of a bus and his parents sue the be-jesus out of whoever made the app? Anyone want to set an over/under?

Well, someone has already fallen off a bridge, but there's a disclaimer right at the beginning of opening the app that reminds people to watch where they are going.

  4. If you go back and watch the game we were getting tons of yards running early in the game but by the 4th quarter we started to assert ourselves up front. By halftime of the Purdue game we had pretty much abandoned the run. A team which ranked about the same as UCLA at stopping the run. Also I believe MSU was in the top 10 at stopping the run so 179 yards rushing is a very solid performance.

Again, a bit of a misnomer. Cross was the only one who was consistently getting yards; he finished with 18 carries and 5.4 per carry. Jano had some big runs, but he only carried the ball 4 times, while Tommy only averaged 2.7 a carry. The rest of the attempts are filled with Jet Sweeps, and Newby's 2 yards per carry.

What can cloud memories are the big runs that occurred. Cross had two to three big carries, as did Tommy. If you take their longs for the game(Cross for 21 and Tommy for 17), Cross ended with 17 carries/77 yards (4.5 per) and Tommy ends with 6 carries and a whopping 2 yards. I don't think I need to calculate the YPC for that one.

  5. You know what both of those game plans had in common Zoogs? Nebraska make a concerted effort to run the ball and stick with it both games.

I wouldn't say it was a "concerted" effort to run against MSU; it was almost a perfect 50/50 split in terms of run/pass ratio (36/33), with almost double the yards coming through the air (320-179).

  6. They can do better than 180 a game this year. All backs should be better. And even though there's some young newcomers on the line, it doesn't mean they should automatically be worse in run blocking.

I just hope these backs, Oz, Newby, Wilbon, get opportunities to run outside more often. Seemed like last season most running plays were straight up the middle for 2, 3. 4 yards and a cloud of dust. While they used the jet sweep and halfback passes for stretching the field. I got tired of that by mid season. Especially considering that a majority of big runs throughout the nation (and Husker history) occur when backs go outside and have the ability to hit the edge or cut back, use burst and speed in open space. Really, really hope this gets seriously considered by HCMR and OCDL. It just has to be done.

A lot of that depends on the young O-Line. The success of those outside runs are predicated on setting the edge, blocking the end and getting blocks on the second level.

It's hard to blame Riley and Co. for not running the ball more in 2015 if they thought T. Newby was our best option ( Although many fans have argued that he might not have been). You would have to think if they had a guy like Ameer/Rex/Roy they would have surely given them the ball more then they did our current stock of backs. I see why they did what they did. Give the ball to Newby/Cross, or one of the better WR groups in the conference?

Wasn't newby's production ahead of where Ameer (and maybe Rex) were at similar points in their careers?

Point being, if he'd been developed and utilized like those two were, maybe he would have been more productive this year.

    We miss Ron Brown.

Burkhead looked ready to take over from Helu. Ameer looked ready to take over from Burkhead. I was never excited about seeing Newby get more carries, based on what he showed under both coaches. He may surprise us this season, or simply join dozens of previous Husker running backs who were merely competent.

Ziggy is going to be the one taking that torch.

The amount of people that get put on these preseason watch lists is embarrassing. I'm pretty sure at least half the members of this board are on at least one.

    Why is it embarrassing?

The Maxwell award list has 90(!) players on it. There's a RB from Appalachian St on it....it's a bit much.

Also, congrats to you for being on the Lombardi Award watch list.

  9. I can see why NFL scouts like Lee, in the same way that they like any number of 6'4, 220 QBs with an arm -- the vast majority of whom don't end up being serious NFL prospects. Still, point taken: it's a good place to start.

In an ideal world, POB comes along this season to the point where he is the solid #2, and getting reps in blowouts. This would give us flexibility to redshirt Gebbia, and put 2 years inbetween them.

In terms of this season, Tommy is the man. He'll only come off the field if we're winning big, or by injury (knock on wood).

Yeah, I agree with this. Ideally, POB can win the #2 spot this year and get a handful of series throughout the season -- as a springboard to winning the job and blossoming as the next great B1G QB.

If he can't win the job next season, most likely whoever does is closer to hold down the fort than a superstar, until either POB or Gebbia or whoever else is ready. That's fine too. I loved the Zac Taylor years. And QB is a position where I think stability and sound decisions matter more than raw talent or developing youth.

Zac Taylor is one of my favorite Husker QBs of all time. He is seriously undervalued throughout history.

The best thing that happened to the show was running out of material from the books.

Now that's just silly, and I don't really like the books. The show wouldn't exist without the books. The best thing to happen to the show was that the books were written and it was made. You could argue it's the best thing that's happened to the show since "blank."

Anyhow, I'm halfway through season 3 so I don't know but I'm guessing the show got boring with the same material that the books got boring. Although I didn't make it past book 1 in 10 years of trying until I finally had the whole series read to me.

My favoritest book series is being turned into a tv series. I hope it's half as good as the GoT TV series.

That's not what I meant at all. Because the show is now out of material from the books, they are allowed to actually pivot towards the ending. They aren't dragged down by the various loose threads that GRRM has introduced in the last two books. It's made the show more tightly constructed and, overall, better.

  12. Am I supposed to recognize this name? Hate to see guys leave prematurely but I will assume, since I didn't recognize the name, that he has not yet made a huge contribution and this will just free up more room for somebody that really wants to be here. Good luck to Andrew...

All that does is show how much you follow Nebrasketball.

  13. Remember when 20 little kids got shot and the nation was outraged? We still have guns everywhere. It's been four years. There have been nearly 1,000 mass shootings since Sandy Hook, with over 1,135 people dead and nearly 4,000 more wounded.

This shooting won't change anything. The pro-gun crowd just gets further & further entrenched in their mania. They won't budge until every man, woman and child in this country knows someone who's been shot in gun violence.

Even then it's iffy, because they'll just push for more guns, for everyone, everywhere.

Why even have this conversation? No amount of bloodshed will convince the pro-gun people.

And there it is: the only correct answer.
