I agree! But use some of that sweet B1G TV money to pay for it.

If you're tapping the private side to fund $225 million, why not put that into NIL? Why not use your private donors to help the on field product - the only way within the rules to use money to directly do that - and use that TV money to pay for the stadium?

Fans aren't going to be thrilled to show up to a nice new stadium just to watch Nebraska lose to talented teams like Oregon/USC/etc. just because they have seat backs now.

That TV money isn't going anywhere, though, at least through supposedly when construction will finish. It does put a bit more onus on the program to start winning and fast, though.

There's a lot to like here, but my question is about the private money.

Use that $225 million for NIL to buy players. Adding suites to the field, upgrading the bathrooms, and making the seats comfortable are all great but doesn't really mean much if fans show up to see bad football.

Nebraska needs to buy better players.

I don't disagree, but a cool-a$$ stadium to play in doesn't hurt, and South Stadium has needed a renovation for decades.

I'm seeing a very small top tier and a huge body of mediocrity in the NFL this year.

    At least more than usual.

But how about that wake-up call from the Arizona Cardinals?

I'd argue that the top tier in the NFL is larger than its been in years. SF, Philly, Dallas and even Detroit could win the NFC, and the AFC is a gauntlet; KC, Cincy, Miami, Buffalo and even Baltimore could win it.

Also, Gannon is going to get fired for not tanking for Caleb Williams.

Peter Jackson is such a moron. He can make films, but he doesn't understand storytelling.

He got the preamble of this scene correct. But he didn't grasp the impact of the several parts of the story, and he badly messed up the disposition of a great scene. He had no idea why the words they said needed to come in the order they did, or why that order had import.

Theoden led the Rohirrim through the gaps in the Rammas, and into the Pelennor Fields. Jackson got it right that Theoden saw the enemy's disposition. He ordered his serried ranks for battle. And then he charged.

The Rohirrim did not shout "DEATH" before that charge. They were a skilled and deadly order of knights. They did not fear, or anticipate death. They charged, and they shore through the enemy like scythes in a field of wheat. Theoden's onslaught clove through the Orc pikes and archers all the way to the Haradrim, and Theoden and his knights sweep through them. He is triumphant on the field until the Nazgul swoop down.

In the book there is one of the greatest scenes of 20th century literature, where Eowyn, unhorsed, reels up against the black horror resting on Theoden and Snowmane. And when he tells her that no living man may hinder him, she scoffs, and says, "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman! Eowyn am I, Eomund's daughter, and you stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone if you be not deathless! For living, or dark undead, I will smite you if you touch him!"

And the Nazgul attacks her, but "slender, yet as a steel blade" she beheads the monster, and although the deadly wraith shatters her arm, with Merry's help she defeats him. And as she does, she is stricken down by her enemy.

Eomer, triumphant on his part of the field, sweeps upon the scene with his knights. And when he recognizes Snowmane, and Theoden's banner, he unmounts and bows to pay his respect to his fallen lord.

And then he sees his sister, Eowyn, fallen and seemingly dead. And in his might and wrath, he returns to his horse, orders his forces, and arranges the battle.

At that point, after Eomer sees his king and his sister dead (dead), at THAT point Eomer orders his knights to what he perceives to be a futile fight. At that point, leading the Rohirrim, he shouts DEATH!

And as one, they respond. DEATH!

    And then they charge.

Jackson just wholly ganks this up. He's so wrapped up in smelling his own farts that he fumbles the impact of this scene. His movie is good, don't get me wrong. But it could have been so, so much better if he had just followed along with the majesty already crafted by the master storyteller.

  5. The Chiefs/Dolphins game in November is going to be very interesting, if everyone is healthy. Miami is hitting on all cylinders right now on offense, but KC's defense (especially the secondary) is much improved this year, and only getting better.

EDIT: since some scruffy looking nerf herder's got laughs today, here's KC's defensive stats.

    YPG: 6th

    PYPG: 6th

    RYPG: 11th

    PPG: 4th

If we want to get in the weeds, we can, but thus far, it's a much improved unit.

    Total defense rankings:

    Louisiana Tech #95

    Relative SOS rankings:

    Minnesota: 45th

    Colorado: 3rd

    Northern Illinois: 114th

    Louisiana Tech: 119th

  7. I thought it was going to be a one-off for the volleyball match, but it's cool they are integrating it more regularly. They were probably able to pay for it with Steve Pederson's leftover fireworks budget.

This would not effect the 2023 squad (since none of these guys would probably be ready yet) but it is amazing how we botched QB recruiting in last years class.  Frost allowed Whipple to choose his hand picked guy (when everyone knew Whipple wasn't going to be around for more than 2 year) and bypassed multiple local guys (Flores, Johnson, Kienholz) that maybe had a better chance of sticking with the coaching change.

Flores would be great to have around right about now.

When will Sims be be 100 percent with catching snaps

How many has he dropped this season?

I’m in the camp that thinks Sims is the better QB in most metrics. His ceiling is much higher because of what he is capable of doing. It’s fairly obvious (so far anyway) that HH’s ceiling is lower. But the turnovers are a trump card. I think Sims starts whenever he is physically capable but he needs to ride the pine in any game before he can commit turnover number 3. Two and he’s out and, if he hits that wall in a few consecutive games, then he needs to slide on down the depth chart no matter his skill set. Unforced turnovers can’t be acceptable.

This is pretty much where I'm at as well. Sims is the better athlete, but his costly mistakes are what even him out with HH. If HH fixes some of his mechanics (shorten his stance, transfers his weight better, etc), he'll pull ahead.

  10. There's something to be said about comparing apples to apples in this situation; Sims has two starts against P5 competition, while Haarberg's start was against a G5 school.

    Yeah.

Both have issues that prevent them from being accurate on long balls.  They might be different issues for each player...but they both have issues.

But one of them is better than the other at this point in time.

So, two passes a hair over 30 yards....one for each.

I fail to see how one is better than the other in this category.

Are you watching how each one of them goes about it? One is more refined than the other, for certain.

Sim makes me nervous when he goes to throw farther than two yards. I didn't feel that same uneasiness with the first ever starter Haarberg.

My thought is that Sims shouldn't get the job back until Haarberg makes the mistakes Sims did. HH isn't turning over the ball, and I hope he doesn't. Sims in my opinion has lost that right to immediately come back after what we saw in Game 1 and 2.

Oh, Haarberg is a far better decision maker; his mechanics just have to be ironed out a bit.

    That describes both QBs.

Eh, not really. Sims has more zip on his downfield throws, mostly because his mechanics are a bit better than Haarberg's are at this point in time.

See I think that is the huge issue.  Right now, when he throws the ball it feels like an "oh s#!t" moment.

The few long balls I have seen in 2 games have just been nuked.  Air mailed as hard as he can chuck it.

It's all footwork from what I've seen; he needs a better transition of power from his legs and hips on those deep throws. Anything low trajectory, across the middle of the field or closer to the LOS has generally been good; his TD throw to Fidone was a good throw; that's because he can power those throws with just his arm. Anything deeper down the field is a crapshoot.

One way to look at it...any run HH had is probably twice as long with Sims running it.

With that said, HH looked pretty good at throwing the ball

If he could throw it further than 20 yards down field without it being a game of 500, I'd be much more comfortable with him starting.

I agree. From what I could tell, the offense and play calling wasn't all that different for HH compared to Dims.

To my eye, HH was a little more apt to run the ball on RPO plays and he did a better job of throwing shorter, easier completions to our TEs, especially  Fidone who doesn't get looked at by Sims. Sims seems more willing to push the ball downfield, although this is to the detriment of the team.

I think Satterfield is getting more comfortable calling plays that benefit his QBs. He's starting to realize the receivers aren't that great, but he's still prone to not being able to get out of his own way.

It's actually fairly even in terms of stats: Sims has 4 more passing attempts and 9 more rushing attempts. I haven't broken film down by any means to be able to determine how many of those runs are designed vs. scrambles, but to the naked eye, it seems like more of Haarberg's rushing attempts are designed.
