Hey Cubs fans...we're coming for ya next week! :wasted

Royals fan??? It's going to be a great series.

Actually, next week is going to be huge for the Cubs with both the Nationals and the Royals in town. Both teams are doing well this year.

Nats fan....yeah Cubs have a tough week...I am just hoping Harper doesn't get tossed during the Cubs series!

That was a really strange set of events that lead up to his getting tossed. It seemed to me the ump had a cob up his azz. Harper was in the box, the ump stops play, Harper steps out and then the ump acts like he's mad that Harper is out of the box. The guy was a total jackass.

Yeah those two have history together...

Also, don't worry about his position.

It will work like this...if he is not afraid to tackle he will play on defense. If he is one of the 11 best tacklers he will be a starter.

No he won't!! You hate my kid! or You don't recognize talent when you see it!! :sarcasm

When will parents realize that coaches want to win, and will do what is best for the team? (Well, except for Callahan, maybe . . . )

Two things that I suggest are a must! First, make sure that when your son gets fitted for a helmet that it is DONE properly! Too many times I have witness coaches handing out helmets and they have no clue how to determine the correct fit on the players head. Also, make sure the coaches are certified in "heads up football". Believe it or not you will still find coaches teaching the improper way to tackle. With any sport your child runs the risk if injury, but now a days I can say with certainty that coaches are being aware of how to recognize the sings of potential concussions.

If ya have any more questions feel free to shoot me a pm. I can try to answer them the best I can.

There is more head trauma from soccer than from any other sport - yet mama will push soccer over football because its "less dangerous".

Ha! I love when I get emails from parents after the first day of practice...letting me know where they think their son should be playing! ha

I think you have to put the age of the child in perspective when you reach out to a coach about your child. I had a talk with son's coach last year for flag football. It is a learning league and he was playing favorites to the point that some parents were basically paying to watch their kids sit on the sideline and do nothing. I aired it out with him and told him that if this was the type of team he was going to run, then let the parents know this first so they can explain to their kids how it will work.

I have no illusions about my son's ability but he isn't a slouch on the field either. But when I pay $75 to put him in a learn first league, I expect him to get time at all football positions and time on the field to learn.

Most youth leagues have rules about this....Players have to play a specific amount of plays or quarters

  5. After viewing the threads on HB for a while, I finally decided to take the leap and make my first post.

I am always curious as to why people think we will be a more "disciplined" team under Riley than compared to Bo.

In 2014, Oregon St averaged 8.5 penalties per game. That is tied for 121st in the nation (out of 128...yikes). That does not sound very disciplined to me.

Compare that to Nebraska in 2014, who averaged 5.9 penalties per game. That is tied for 61st in the nation.

Not a Bo lover or a Riley hater, I would just like to hear why everyone thinks we will be so much more "disciplined" now. I understand discipline can mean different things, but penalties are certainly a big part of it.

What I meant by discipline is how in years past, our players played out of position, over pursued, bit on the play fake and just plain didn't tackle well. Hence, played undisciplined football.

  6. Cubs sweep the Mets in 4! Baby steps!

As a Nationals fan I was really glad to see this! I knew it was just a matter of time before the Mets would settle down and begin losing games

  7. I am now going on my 14th year of coaching youth football and where the hell has the time gone?? My youngest son has two more years before he moves on to high school football. I am very thankful to have already coached two of my boys along with many other kids through out the years. The most rewarding thing is not winning championships, going undefeated or beating other teams, it's the things like standing in a store and having one of your former kids (players) come up to you and introduce you to his wife and kids. Knowing that you had a positive impact in their lives on more than one occasion.

It has been a fun ride and I don't have any plans on slowing down now!

  8. It really depends on what you are looking for in a pre-workout. I work out and I have probably tried just about every pre-workout there is lol. The two that I have found that works the best for me is C-4 and Hyde.

I have also found that doing cardio after I lift tends to shred the excess fat that I need. Once you deplete your glycogen levels (energy) from lifting, your body starts to turn to fat storage for more energy. Hence, you burn fat for energy. That seems to work for me anyways

  9. I think in my opinion the most important trait that a QB must have is the ability to check down and go through his progressions. You always hear about the "inner clock" that a QB must have. In other words, know when to tuck it and gain positive yards when things are breaking down around him.

I will donate money to the cause if any MLB team would take Edwin Jackson away from the Cubs.

You can add the majority of the their bullpen and Kyle Hendricks too. Theo and the Cubs need to shore up their pitching. Plain and simple.

3 home runs in his first 3 at bats today for Bryce Harper.

I was actually at that game. He smacked two of them directly over my head in RF

  11. I am pretty excited about my Nats this year. We started off pretty bad but we are turning things around. Harper is really starting to setting down and be patient at the plate. We will see how things look in October. Fingers crossed!

  12.

That looks like a serial killers ransom note.

Totally!!! I have some issues with copy & paste.

I thought I was reading a new letter from the Zodiac killer ;)
