He just signed a new contract 4 months ago that made him the 2nd highest paid AD in the B1G and top 10 nationally.

Compensated is the wrong word. How about supported?

Leadership may not be where it needs to be at this particular moment, but it does not the change the fact that Nebraska took a big chance on him with just his UNO background.  He basically got the job because he was an alumni.  He just signed an extension.  He hired a new football head coach just a year ago.  They are starting major renovation projects.  It was a horrible time to leave and he will justly be remembered for that.  He deserves to be remembered as a "turncoat".

He's not a turn coat, but it's extremely disappointing that he chose to leave instead of fight for what he supposedly loved. Then again it sounds like he asked to be compensated for his trouble and was shut down.

On social media, yes. I didn't care for him either.

However, I am of the opinion that both were employed by private entities, and if the powers that be say "you're out" then you're out.

Well, then they're just as stupid as Lemon, but if Elon did cancel him for asking hard questions the irony is... chef's kiss!

What's hilarious is that the ones loudly bemoaning and clutching pearls for this now...were the first ones gloating and jumping for joy when Tucker Carlson got axed.

Are they? Don Lemon was terrible.

Ew. Don Lemon? Didn't know he was gone from CNN. Maybe I'll have to take a peek at them again. It's been years since I actually tuned to that channel.

there needs to be some serious soul searching with Nebraskans.

You may have missed some of the early fireworks. Among the many stupid things Gemini AI has done is put Black people into historic photos, including pre-integration military units and sports teams. When users told Gemini that there were no Black players on the 1923 St. Louis Cardinals as Gemini depicted, Gemini gave them a little lecture on inclusivity, apparently having been programmed to favor diversity over historical accuracy. Stuff like that.

Again, was it actually programmed that way or is it a reflection of where we're at as a society?

If you wanted to create the worst possible example of Wokeness Run Amok, it would be the Gemini ChatBot, and whoever programmed it. I don't know if you can call it a Democrat thing, but it's pretty embarrassing.

In the spirit of machine learning, Gemini is in the process of correcting itself.

I mean a basic understanding of AI would tell you that it's not a left or right thing. These algorithms are usually program to pull data from the internet and their output typically reflects some semblance of society as a whole. They'll always need to be refined to improve the output, but it's not like somebody is pulling a lever to only give a certain result.

What kind of changes?   This has really caught me off guard.

    UGLY

Yep, we'll see how it shakes out. I'm sure there's some truth in there as well as some exaggeration. The only good part is at least they were two adults, even though there's an extremely unhealthy power dynamic there and any coach should know to never even think about having a relationship with a player.

Being an out of stater, what are the 'shenanigans' on the women's basketball team?

It just doesn't make sense to run from ones dream job when on the top -  Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, all up others trending up.  Fund raising is up.   What kind of political things are happening in Nebraska that would lead to him leaving?

Again - I don't read the local Lincoln news or hear all of the scuttlebutt - but this is a shocker to me living in Tulsa.

Assistant coach had a sexual relationship with one of the players last year and was put on paid leave, then dismissed. I believe the player was dismissed as well (she's on another team now anyway). Player is now suing the University; saying the head coach shamed her in front of the team, fellow players harassed her about the relationship,  and the University failed to properly act in the entire situation.

It does.  It's literally the same graph that would be used by the left to promote sex-ed and proactive programs in low income areas that happen to be primarily populated by minorities.  The main difference is the point that is trying to be made...if he has one...

What's funny is the people posting this are generally the same folks saying to quit making things about race!

Keen-eyed and less combative posters may have noticed I chose the words "racially-tinged" when addressing a graph detailing the preponderance of out-of-wedlock Black folk, and the political leanings of the guy who posted it on X.

You don't need to put "racist" in quotes because I never used the word.

Surely you know how weird it is to post information specifically measured by race, then accuse someone else of making it about race.

I believe the proper phrasing is: X (formally known as Twitter)

Dude, it is all online now.  This is not the olden days.  I would imagine the process on both ends is much more streamlined.

    All 3 actually!

And do you have just a W2 and a 1099C? Or do you have your own business? Because taxes for self employment and businesses get a lot more complex, and there are a lot more loopholes ways to write off money that the IRS would have to review. Just doing my wife's 1099NEC for contract work is quite a bit different than what I would do for my regular W2 and 1099C.

I mean...why would the IRS just not go after the 25,000 people that make over a million dollars that don't pay taxes?

The info is right there for them, it is not like they have to hunt them down.  My counselors at school are each responsible for about 200 kids at a time.  One IRS agent can't deal with 250 grown a$$ people on their case load?

80,000 people work for the IRS!  How much more funding do they needed?

People need to work when they are at work and not just post all day (like all of us do! Hahaha)  I know I know, pot meet kettle, but come on IRS workers, you can do more in a day.

    I have seen The Untouchables.

Have you ever actually done your own taxes, or do you just plug it into turbo tax or have "a guy"?

I see Clinton getting praise for balancing the budget....as he should.

But, it wasn't all because he held down spending.  In 1993, he signed a bill that created a 36-39.5% tax bracket for high income earners.  Business taxes went to 35%.  Currently, that is 28%.

After his term (and during Obama's) he also became a proponent of reducing corporate tax and capitol gains rates to be competitive in the race to the bottom with other countries.

This could be another Afghanistan. The Mujahidin outlasted a nation known for its long, slogging, grinding wars.

As you say, the Ukrainians share a lot of the same DNA. So there's a chance.

Big difference is that they had naturally fortified placed to hide that couldn't easily be destroyed in Afghanistan. Ukraine can easily be flattened if needed.

Will they be able to get them before their economy, manpower, logistics, & equipment is overrun remains to be seen. They have/are now losing a lot of western equipment within the last week.

Russia has been losing a lot of high value equipment as well. The A-50s being taken out is a huge deal, not just for the Ukrainian front, but for Russia's overall defense on all borders. There's also the half dozen jets shot down a few weeks ago. As well as Ukraine continuing to take out Russian anti air. Nobody's saying much but it really feels like Ukraine is gearing up for a big push by plowing the road right now... Logistically it would be risky. We'll see...
