  1. do we win the OSU game, if Braxton Miller doesn't get hurt? he killed us with his feet, Robinson will do the same.

It really could have gone either way had he stayed in. Before the injury he seemed to be slipping anyway and I felt like it was only a matter of time till we got and INT out of him. They probably would have scored if he stayed healthy and it would have been down to the wire.

  2. Done and done!

I almost feel like Rex and Taylor should be together for the nomination, they basically took the team on their shoulders and were an amazing duo to watch.

I was more surprised David wasn't on the list.

David was the one who really got the momentum going for the Huskers.

Very true. He and Rex have that quality of never giving up when things are down, and if they can't win then your at least going to have to feel them till the final second ticks off. But in these polls they usually stick with offensive guys, I think Suh and maybe Fairley are the only defensive guys I can recall seeing in awhile.

  3. I am 64, still very active, too active according to all my doctors. I wore out my knees running. Never believe anyone that tells you it is good for you. I still ride the bike 100-200 miles a week, and it never bothers me. But walking to the garage to get on the damned thing nearly kills me. They tell me these surgeries will be life changing. Sure hope so.

All I ask of you kids, is that you look at those old worn out bodies and realize you are headed there. They love the program every bit as much as you do, and have for a lot more years. I am proud to be a Nebraska fan for over 50 years, and in those 50 some years have never told anyone to set down, nor have I booed an opposing team or ours.

Maybe it is just a different time, but I look at myself as a life long Husker fan, and our actions are supposed to be different than other fan bases.

It should be pretty life changing for you skers. My dad is about your age and just had his knee replace a few months back and he already walks better than he did before surgery. Good luck with it and I hope it all turns out good for you.

  4. I don't know if that was an adjustment or if Taylor was talked to and finally started seeing it and learning that 2-3 yards is better than a sack, fumble, or pick. Those dump-offs/check downs were there last week but I think he was just focusing on the big play everytime.

  5. Sitting in the east student section the boos were pretty audible, and I would think that's where most of it was coming from. I was getting annoyed with the guy in front of me before that for constantly being cynical and sarcastic, it just so dumb and way too many people do it at the first inkling of trouble i.e. an incompletion/lost yardage.

And like the OP said nobody playing should be booed unless they flat out give up and stop playing. As for me I will probably never boo, espcially this teams since I went to school and played with guys on that team.

  6. Does anybody remember seeing the diamond or this new triple option set before half-time?

I personally don't, so I wonder if Beck would prefer not to use them? It seems that we started this game with our basic formation of power-i/pistol/shotgun, and then ran the diamond/nebraska-flexbone/power-i exclusively to finish the game.

Seriously, props to Beck for making the switch and getting our guys rolling, but I wonder what the reasoning is behind not using them earlier? My best guess is that Beck wants to test the defenses early with the basics and then go to these formations later if he has too, but I'm wondering what you guys think.

I sure don't remember seeing it before.

It's a "very" good question about why it surfaces now. I'm in the "reps required" camp so I think it's silly to hide it almost to halfway into the season. Heh....otoh, there's no arguing the great results. So what do I know?

Maybe da skers will swing by and give us the scoop.

    GBR!!

It's been used a few times during the first hand full of games this season, but I don't think it surfaced more than once or twice in a game. And I think I recall Rex being in at fullback in the I against Washington or Wyoming for a few plays.

  7. As long as Nebraska gets referred to as "defending national champions" at some point within the next few years, I really don't care how they abbreviate the school name in the box scores.

    Amen to that!

  8. I heard he was unconscious for half the game last night. That's how good he is. He can play that well unconscious, I can't wait til' he wakes up. On a serious note, I hope the kid is doing okay. He is 100% born and raised Husker, and that means more to me than anything. The dude plays his butt off regardless.

Yes he does. His play has mostly been pretty good this season for what he is asked to do. But at times last night he was literally taking on triple teams without giving ground, I think he's fine.

  9. If I'm not mistaken, though, I believe the rivalry between Texas and OU dates backs long before the Big 12 ever formed. I don't know exactly how long, but I'm almost positive they started forming that rivalry decades ago.

I think they said something like 1929 or around there on the broadcast.

  10. Premature for Martinez but not for the others. Changing starting QBs is a big deal because of the scrutiny it invites on the team. Other positions have been fluid since game 1. Although I believe Brion should have had more of a shot to showcase his abilities early in the year, and going forward, an outright change is premature.

But guys like Blatchford, A-Rod, Kinnie, etc...have not been safe. And guys like Fisher and Thorell should have their seats getting prety hot by now. Acknowledging that the team is still built around Taylor on offense, there are still a lot of pieces that could be shuffled around, as far as personnel goes - especially on defense.

I agree with you though. Yeah it was a bad loss, but it was a game that got away from us. We were going to lose to Wisconsin probably no matter what. We got killed because we shot ourselves in the foot. We can recover, and we should support the team through this. Stop freakin' panicking and jumping off the bandwagon!

I agree with just about everything you said but I think Kinnie is becoming more of a go to possession receiver. He looks to be over his injury (thumb iir) and seems to be finding his groove. He looks really good catching now and he usually fights for yardage when he gets the chance. But like the other guys I think his biggest limitation is the quality of passes.

  11. Couldn't read the first article on my phone but I'll check it out tomorrow, love the other human side of sports stories.

The second article is just rediculous wish I was in that class so I could tell the dumb b*tch to shut the f up, because he skinny jean wearing pansy of a boyfriend would curl up in the fetal position and cry if he had 300lb men charging at him, much less play a full game and have the guts to continue after he knew he screwed up.

I get the feeling this is a major crossroads for Taylor. Situations like this can end up defining who you are. Do you come out a shadow of yourself and limp through the season, or do you fuel yourself with the criticism and give it your all to be the best and improve. I get the feeling if he has his way some people here will be eating crow before it's all said and done. I just hope he can make steady improvememts and take this team to it's full potential.

  12. So...

    Anyone see Bo's presser?

I thought he did pretty well. Wasn't short with the media and had a lot less coach speak. Actaully seem to be giving honest opinions of what he thought/knew going into the game and how they played.

  13. I don't think their size had anything to do with our problems. Rewatching the game on BTN we seem to hold the line well and rarely if ever got pushed back. The real problem seems to be the fill from the LBs or their over pursuit and a general lack of tackling by all. I think the front seven would have no problem playing a physical game with anyone, but they need to follow the plays properly keeping their eyes up and WRAP UP. I do think a switch to one gap would help us out, but I'm not sure it's a good idea 5 games in. I think the line can continue with the personel they have, but somethinh has to change with the LBs (obviously not David, Compton has been average). Give the others guys a shot. If I recall they didn't look like they would be a fish out of water if we plugged them in early on. If anything we would simply be back where we started if they don't pan out and atleast know our depth.

As for the secondary that's just confusing to me. It's hard to judge from just tv views, but if we are going to play off coverage then we are going to give up the short routs, that's just a given against a good QB. And thats fine to an extent because we have mixed in some press, but if we're going with the bend don't break attitude the safties can not bite like they did and give up the big plays. They must keep everything infront of them. I think the CBs just need experience and the right combinations which is probably why we've seen so many different ones. But unfortunatly I think no matter what the co,bination is it's just going to tale time.

As far as safties I think Stafford could be an option at LB and in that case PJ and Osborne would seem to be a good fit for the safties. They both have experience and from what little I've seen of them this year they are always flying to the ball. (and why isn't Osborne playing? I know people said he pissed Bo off but is there really any truth to it, and if so what did he do?)

  14. Sean Is pretty good, Millen is just annoying with his idiotic comments. They need to put him with Musbeger for the def fans and the game no one really wants to watch. Sean and Kirk could be a pretty good combo, they both have a clue and (during broadcast atleast) they don't really play favorites.

  15. As far as captains go I would say the players should elect 2 to 3 guys one from each team (offense, defense, special teams, or someone who bust their ass). And the coaches should select a guy or two they feel has really worked hard that week whether he will see the field or not.

I like how Bo is doing the blackshirts and I do think they need to be earned. But I think they could be handed out after fall camp and taken away if you fail to perform, with the ability to EARN it back. And if something like this year happens then the whole D loses the privilge of getting a blackshirt until things are righted.

  16. He's got a right... Nothing was changed on D until it was too late. I honestly can't believe there aren't some guys on the bench that could play sound fundamental football with some heart. Some of these mistakes are rediculous and have been going on for weeks and that's unacceptable.

  17. ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and others don't care about the good that Suh does, they only care when he lays a controversial hit on someone so they can call him a dirty player.

It sad. But its good to see that some people care about the good things he does.

Not true. Most ESPN commentators said SUH's big hits on QB's were within the rules. Its the NFL that can't get it right.

    T_O_B

    G>B>R

Agreed. Not really sure who started the dirty player stuff but most of the former players on the shows have said he plays the game the way it's meant to be played, but the NFL hasn't seen someone like him in awhile and it's kind of a shock to their system.

But they have also said he needs to be careful because he could face some action from the league in the future
