Since our te's aren't very good why can't we leave one or two of them on the line to block. Ross has been doing an admirable job, but can't be expected to block 300 lb DT's. We need major help in that area.

I wouldn't call a 25-35 yd return breaking. They were good returns, but look who caught passes, peterson, swift, nunn might have had 1, not much else. Ross looked good on some plays, but they quit going to him. I though the team came out flat today. No excitement, no emotion. After they realized they were getting their A$$e$ handed to them the fought back and knotted it up. We have had a few injuries, made some mistakes, especially fumbling the ball, and made too many penalties. The team needs to overcome this and play on with an attitude.

No we can't expect the O to score 40 each week, but this is a pattern that I have noticed over the last couple of weeks. The further into the season we get the more game film opposing teams see. They are going to start to key on the tendencies of the offence. Hopefully BC is running the same plays so he can run a counter play off of them to fool the remaining teams. I think we have the players to show something different. I haven't seen a deep ball in quite a long time. All spring all everyone could talk about is how taylor could throw the deep ball. Where is it? The WCO is designed for a variety of things. One of them is short passing with a run after catch. Our receivers don't seem to be getting alot of YAC.

Our LB core has diminished with injuries. Coz seems too content hanging back and preventing the big play, even on third and long. We gave MU too many 3rd and long conversions today let alone the big plays. I don't think he is bringing the right pressure at the right time. We need more variety in play calling on O. On one series we ran on first down and ross picked up a couple. The next play it looked like we ran the same play and were thrown for a loss. That put us in 3rd and long situations.

Is it just me or do we seem to run the same 15 or 20 plays over and over. I alluded to the screen pass to ross in an earlier post and that play worked for 2 games. Then teams figured it out. Baylor stopped it a couple of times and the time we ran it today it was stopped. The pass routes seemed the same all day. We threw the ball to peterson on the flag route about 4 or 5 times today. It worked once or twice, but then MU stopped it by having the safety come over. Is there a receiver in that route pattern that runs over the middle to hold the safety? When we have third or 4th and short we either run a slant to the slot or short out to the te or the receiver. Our running game either goes off tackle or a pitch to ross. It just seems that we aren't very diversified in our play calling. I haven't seen any counters or an occasional give to the full back.

Part of being a good coach is learning from your mistakes, making adjustments and improving. 70-10 was a big mistake, TT's last drive was another.

That was a key play, but hardy dropped another pass that would have given us a first down also. The TE dropped a pass at the end of the game. Peterson dropped a couple also, he took a shot on the last one though, still should have held on.

Our tackles are terrible, especially corn thomas. I saw Austin get beat on a play, give up and turn around to watch taylor get put on his A$$. I say start Murtha, he can't be as bad as thomas plus it gives us an experienced player for next year.

On the big run by smith I saw problems before the play. You never empty the middle of the field out. What were they doing? No backer there and no safety. Great call by either the MU coaching staff or an audible at the line of scrimmage.

When is the guy gonna learn that the 3 man front doesn't work. You need pressure on the QB and to stay in your lanes. The D was pathetic today.

A great recruiting class? I would rather have wins. The only guys that made any plays today ( and there were few) were not high recruits.

No the D didn't get "dominated" and they did play well from mid-2nd quarter on, but the game is 4 quarters long. If you don't play well in all 4 quarters there is a good chance you will loose. The D coaching staff has shown tremendous improvement from last year in their ability to change their gameplan and make adjustments to what the O is doing. As I mentioned in my earlier post, turnovers killed us. Turnovers were responsible for at least 13 TT points, maybe more, I can't remember. The last TD was a result of a turnover as were the 2 second half field goals. I think our D is playing better than the 03 D. I don't know what the statistical comparisons are to this point, they are looking good. They have given up a good deal of yards to TT and ISU, but at least they didn't have 700 yards hung on them like KSU.

The problem with 03 was that the offense couldn't score in two of the games they lost. I mean come on they only had 175 yards against Texas. If the offense produces a little more and scores a few more points then that changes the complexion of the game. I agree against MU the D gave up too many points while the O scored enough to win. If the offense hadn't commited 5 turnovers it might have put the D in a better position. Same with the KState game, 4 turnovers by the O. You can't blame those losses in 03 on the D, the O did not hold up their end of the deal.
