I know a guy that is taking a trip to the Holy Land...he said he will probably push it back a month.

I am sure 30 more days will get these people to stop fighting.

The holy land. Chalk full of dead children, body parts, artillery and blown up buildings.

Get rid of big pharma?!?!?   Which companies and thus life saving medicines do you want to include and get rid of? Or just all of them to somehow own those big greedy companies.  Good luck with your healthcare.  Can’t wait to see your alternative:snacks:

I said fix some or get rid of some. Obviously pharma would be fix. But yes, big pharma is a special interest and they lobby on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies to get things passed for their benefit

I didn’t realize every restaurant operated in the state of Nebraska.  Come to the KC area and ask restaurant owners and managers why they can’t fill positions.   You will have a different perspective on the situation.

The conversation started because of something Sasse said. He should be worried about Nebraska and in Nebraska the unemployment rate is low. And restaurants in Omaha are struggling to find help. Which means people found different lines of work...just like you told them to do. Good for them!

It’s mostly because of extended unemployment :dunno

Weve already gone over multiple times in this thread that the unemployment rate in Nebraska is under 3%. Pre-pandemic levels. Try again.

What's more, for decades the extremes of both parties have pulled them farther and farther from Center. Special interests and closed primaries will only continue this gravitation to the extremes. There needs to be a force in the middle pulling them back. A 3rd party formed of people left behind in the center would at minimum accomplish that goal. At maximum, leave the special interests on the fringe where they belong rather than leading the charge.

I agree, special interests like big pharma, healthcare insurance companies, military industrial complex, higher education, etc are extreme. We should fix them or get rid of some all together!

You were pretty swift in defending the inaccurate and crazy comparison.  You took it on as your own and it didn’t work.

Anyone not happy making “$2.13/hr” is free to look elsewhere where they can make “non-slave wages”

They are which is why the restaurant business is struggling to find workers...

Well israel is undefeated in wars with its Muslim neighbours. Maybe that's a sign. :sarcasm

All this can end if god would just show up in a burning bush and declare who owns the land. My guess is on the buddhists since they have never killed anyone over nonsense. Thats who I would choose if Im god.

    That's not what they make.

Thats what the employer pays them. The rest comes from tips. If they dont make tips that equal minimum wage, then the employer has to make up the difference.

Are we still doing the flag at half staff thing for these shootings, or have people pretty much given up on that?

Ive given up all together. Nothing will ever change. Its the country we live in and just got to hope it doesnt happen to you or your family. Sad.

A whole generation of people who are crippled with student debt, cant afford to purchase their own homes, and have to pay $5000 to have one child + unbeleivable cost of child care = not starting a family. And its only going to get worse with cost of education, cost of healthcare, cost of child care all increasing year after year.

Well, the average wage is 48,000, so it’s almost there already.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thestreet.com/.amp/personal-finance/average-income-in-us-14852178

But, there are one hell of a lot of jobs that shouldn’t be paying that and can’t.  A private business owner shouldn’t have to compete with the government paying people to just sit at home.

The average income of me and Jeff Bezos is 55 billion dollars! Holy s#!t, Im rich!

But all jokes aside, the unemployment rate in Omaha is under 3% which was pre-pandemic levels. Youre never going to get it completely down to 0. So Sasse is talking out of his a$$. And maybe the reason restaurants are struggling to find workers is these workers did what conservatives have been telling them to do for decades now, they found higher paying jobs. I guess these business owners struggling to find help better start paying higher wages if they want to keep up in the market or go out of business. Free market baby!

Good thing that’s not the only choice then I guess.

Sounds like you are anti-science.  Why?

No reason to be sorry for the insane posts.

At least I’m just a piece of s#!t and not the whole s#!t I guess.  You obviously think about abortion enough to post multiple times on a message board about it and it upsets you enough to call some random person you never met a piece of s#!t (luckily not the whole s#!t or I might of been offended) because of a discussion.  :D  That must suck.

Science has proven a soul? Please show me.

And I didnt call you a piece of s#!t. I said I would think people who have abortions are pieces of s#!t, because they most likely are.

Do you believe in Heaven?  If so, do you think it is better than Earth?

I mean, we are all trained from an early age to think Heaven is a special place in the clouds where everyone is happy and singing and gets to eat ice cream all day and never get fat.  But even the biblical Heaven of a new earth very similar to present earth but ruled by Jesus/God after the "end times" and resurrections sounds better since there will be no sin or death.

I think @Frott Scost is asking a fair question.  At least to those who "actually" have faith in a Heaven.

This is pretty much what Im trying to get at. People who are against abortion are against abortion because their faith tells them to be against abortion. Now there are three options for an aborted fetus if they actually have a soul. If they dont have a soul, then they dont have life and pro-birth people lose their entire argument.
    1. It goes to heaven

    2. Its reincarnated into another human

    3. It ceases to exist.

Choice one is the best! Choice two isnt so bad because youre most likely upgrading your parents/family. Choice three demolishes their entire doctrine and everything they are ever taught about their faith. Is heaven not better than Earth? Isnt that what the bible says. Isnt heaven what Christians strive for by pretending they actually care about abortion when in reality they dont actually care and spend no time thinking about aborted babies. Other than when they are debating it on huskerboard or twitter.

If aborted babies get a free card to heaven and get to avoid all the s#!t we deal with here plus no chance of being sent to hell, arent they the lucky ones in the Christians eyes? Do you think the aborted baby is up there wishing they werent aborted while living in the greatest place our minds can only imagine? I wouldnt care because Ill be loving every second of it! Sorry if you think thats insanity.

Now, Im not very religious and Im pro-choice/anti-abortion. Meaning it is not my place to tell someone who doesnt want to be a parent they have to be a parent. But Im going to still think youre a piece of s#!t because most likely you are. But Id be lying if I tell you I think about abortion a lot and let it consume me because I dont. And Christians dont either, lets be honest.

Ok, I'm thinking out loud here and I don't want to hijack this thread but :

What if what we were taught in Sunday School or Catechism was wrong - about the hell part?  :dunno (Hint: I think we are all 'lucky') There are many  theologians today who would not push the 'hell' half of that equation.  My favorite is NT Wright.  What if the salvation of Christ is more 'Universal' than what  western  Christianity   has preached.  The Eastern Orthodox Church - the part that split from the Catholic Church in the great schism of 1054 is of that persuasion.  Here is a short video on what they say about the subject:

    https://www.goarch.org/-/heaven-and-hell

I, for one, am becoming more convinced of the immense love of God and His patience towards all of us - the aborted baby, the living baby, the parents who aborted the baby, the parents who kept their baby and old people like me and young people like you - those who have a heart towards God, and those who's heart has been hurt and have turned from God.  He loves us all.     Some have interpreted Revelations 21:25 that the gates of heaven won't be shut on anyone, at any time.  The Spirit and the Bride keep saying "Come"

Another good read on the subject is - written by an Eastern Orthodox theologian.

I found this to be a very good read, easy to follow and a more approachable book by Pastor Brian Zahnd:

I mean even if hell doesnt exist, isnt heaven better than Earth? Would you rather be in heaven or on Earth with parents that dont want you, wont love you and might even beat you when you piss them off? And even if they do give you up, you spend your lofe in foster homes and orphanges and hopefully are one of the select few to actually find a loving home. Its an easy answer for me. Thankfully, I dont believe in any of it and I have loving parents. Life still sucks sometimes, but I have a support system. Lots lf these kids dont and end up on death row where people

like archy then want to put them to death.

Okie dokie.  Another disingenuous post about religion.  Or possibly a bad attempt at humor in the killing of babies.  A little hard to tell.

Not humor. If Christianity is real, these babies are the lucky ones and I envy them. They get to spend eternity in heaven and avoid disease, famine, hunger, work, debt, sickness, despair, sadness, death. You think they really care when they are in heaven? I sure as hell wouldnt. Id be like hell yeah, Im in heaven enjoying paradise with unendless love while my piece of s#!t parents are down there dealing with all the BS life has to offer. And then after life, they will be spending eternity being tormented and tortured. Sucks to be them!
