So what are these kids lacking that makes you think they aren't legit? And if an Alabama or Clemson came with an offer to any of them, would it be water under the bridge if they decommitted?

Nobody is saying they need a Clemson or Bama offer to be considered a good talent. There comes a point in time where you have to stop taking lower players and labeling them diamonds in the rough because 9/10 they just aren't. It is the reality of it. People piss and moan to not look at stars and rankings and then show a handful of players who were successful despite their ranking, but the majority flame out.

I respect your opinion and you could be right. But also typically speaking, the lower level prospects are more likely to be "dead weight" for 4-5yrs never contributing....which is just as damaging.

Agreed. Need players pushing for positions in order to be successful. Don't need any more Tony Butler-esque players.

Its always fun to talk about stars and all things being equal I like reading all the positive reports and hearsay about prospects.   But I really feel good about the commits we have so far.   I prefer kids with heart over gaudy measurables.  I feel heart is the biggest single ingredient that may be somewhat lacking in recent Husker teams overall.  Certainly not all players but as a team we need tougher, more energetic, determined effort at the key times.  When the going gets tough, the tough get going - we need to find those types of players as much as anything else.  Give me three stars with “the hunger” and that really want to play for and be Nebraska students.

We have pushed the "heart" narrative for a damn decade.

I'm sure the rest of the conference is shaking at the thought of Frost recruiting *checks ratings* players with a .83 rating.

In all seriousness, we unfortunately have to hope that Frost has the chance and ability to develop these players. This class is a huge blow to Nebraska's chance to win our division, let alone the conference.

Yeah. There is still time but this class compared to 2019 and 2020 shows why a winning season has to happen this year. Especially with the local talent in 22. Got to show some progress.

Buford, Ervin, Hardy, and possibly Kpai all could play some. Kpai is really really good.

Kpai has played how many games at LB? That plus his weight mean he is going to take some time to develop. I’m not saying he doesn’t have talent, but he isn’t going to come in and steal anyone’s spot off the bat.

Biggest thing that sucks about a bad combination of a program in disarray and losing a bunch of close games is the record looks bad and makes it really tough to recruit against the (current) big boys.  Really needed 7-8 wins last year to move the needle.  And we weren't that far off but it's not horseshoes...

Yup. That is why this class looks pretty damn average on paper. I don't see any current commits that could come in and play day 1. This is a very developmental class and in turn very frustrating from an outside perspective.

Whoa, Z. I feel attacked. Our governor just mandated masks in public at all times. So you get off your high horse right meow.

I consider Arkansas the midwest if that helps. What if I change it to say "Deep South"

That is a non conference game.  It will be interesting to see if any of those actually happen.

It's the south.... as far as there concerned COVID doesn't exist, only football.

    edit: Deep South

I'd be surprised if that OV happens, or if fans are there, or if the game actually happens.

I believe he is going on his own dime. I don’t know if it is an OV per the Iowa writer.

Jumped ship quick.  Hasn’t he always planned on taking visits.  Might not even be a game that day or able to visit coaches at all.  Might be one of those campus tours with the family.  Still think we reel this kid in.  Seems to have a great relationship with some of our recruits and coaches.

Yes and I just think the relationship with LSU continues to be strong, probably just as strong as with Frost and co. That campus tour is also conveniently when LSU plays Texas. The longer it goes the worse it gets for us in my opinion.

You may be right. At this point, Nebraska needs to land a few 4 star players in a row to catch Wisconsin.

Frost has calculated that the team needs size and that he will have enough time to develop it. Hopefully he's right.

Lack of visits and last two seasons results make for the class we have now. There are some good players, but we are not seeing the typical out of nowhere visits like we are used to and it is definitely hindering the potential of this class. Think with who we are targeting, we could have a top 22 class, but if visits get back going I think we will see a class like the last two years. Moral of the story is COVID sucks.

It would potentially benefit a lot of teams if players who are on a team that has cancelled their season are allowed to transfer without sitting out.

Not sure how this would hurt us if it was only allowing kids to transfer(without sitting out a year) who had their season cancelled?

Because if teams begin to cancel their seasons, it will be a trickle effect and there will not be any season.
