Rhule's classes were not as highly rated. His classes were mostly 3 star Texas kids with a few kids from neighboring states.

Again though did you even read what I wrote? No one is getting high rated classes at Baylor. That's without even counting the fact that he was recruiting while Baylor was under investigation. It was completely unknown while he was there if they were going to get a penn state level penalty or worse. Who would go to a school during that?

So...that makes you believe they will come to Nebraska?

Nebraska has recruiting classes in the teens recently with no on field success. I'm not sure Baylor ever reached that high even after winning their conference

What scares me is that rhule thought baker mayfield was a good nfl qb

He traded a 2024 5th round pick for him and made the Browns take on most of the salary. That's a great trade to take a flyer on a QB

My question to those who continually bring up that very lame stat…bc it is a lazy argument… how many times was he favored to win those games??? I am sure while at Temple he was the favorite, not playing well above their head. At Baylor he took top 5 teams to the brink. How many times did his teams lose the ones they were supposed to win???

Yeah that 11 win season he beat 3 teams with 8 wins and one team with 7 and its not like he had a good roster. That team would have dominated the B1G west this year and seeing how well they played vs a playoff team twice that year i think they could have made the B1G championship a good game.

Hmm let's see if this fits with what we know about Rhule.

Stylin'- hmm that's up for debate but he has his own so I'd say yes.

Profilin'- not even sure what that means

    Limousine ridin'- most likely

    Jet flyin'- 100% confirmed

    Kiss stealin'- probably not

    Wheelin, dealin'- yep confirmed also

Son of a gun- I'd say yes on this too

So overall a pretty high Flair ratio depending how you view the smock.

It won't. If we hired Saban there would still be a a few posters in here crying that he is too old and wouldn't stay long or some other nonsense because they love pouting

  7. Another fun fact about Collins:

Collins spent two years as the defensive coordinator at Florida underneath Jim McElwain. While with the Gators, Collins oversaw a defense that ranked No. 6 in scoring defense in 2016 and No. 11 in 2015.[5] During the 2015 season, Collins' defense became just the seventh team in the last 20 years to not allow a touchdown against three FBS Power 5 schools on the road in the same season.

Rhule must have done well enough to bring in talent after the Briles fallout to have Baylor winning in year 3 of his tenure there, and many people want to take away credit from Aranda’s success at Baylor because his Big 12 title in 2021 was “built off Rhule’s players”. Looks like he was able to recruit and develop well enough.

Yeah and people maybe don't realize but Rhule started and coached for a while as a defensive coach. That Baylor defense that won the Big 12 championship was led by players that started as freshman and softmores for Rhule. Four of them even got drafted last year.

He had a hard time figuring out offense in the NFL but his defense in Carolina was and still is one of the best in the league.

This statement in itself is true, but no one on his current staff has experience with the recruiting challenges of Nebraska.

Recruiting the Rust Belt vs recruiting the 500 mile radius of Lincoln.....night and day different.

......and does he bring his OC with him?

It's not like they are in Florida, Texas, or California. OSU still has to go national to recruit. Plus most kids in the rust belt should be fine coming to Nebraska. It's not like having to leave somewhere nice for Lincoln.

The only way I would view this a failure is if we end up with some coordinator from Bama or like school.  That would tell me that we actually are not relevant in the college football hierarchy.  To think that we are causing a few sitting coaches to get extended contracts already is a head scratching sight.  Fact is with the ever changing landscape, teams moving from one conference to another, no one knows what is coming in the future.  Heck, being at a school like Kansas might pay huge dividends.......Washington Huskies..........Kentucky..............you never know what is coming around the corner.  I think if you have a current P5 job, it might be worth staying put if your having some success.

We should def avoid Bama coordinators like Lane Kiffin or Kirby Smart. Good to avoid Georgia coaches also so don't try for Dan Lanning

OK, please explain all the colors.

Yellow on the result column is one score loss and green is a win. Yellow on the final record column is for bowl team and green is ranked in the final AP poll.

Is this an assessment of the talent on their roster?  I do recall looking back and seeing Baylor's team recruiting rankings were consistently in the 30 to 40 range.  If that is true, it appears that Leipold may be getting more out of his talent than Rhule did.

Yeah that number is from 247 just using the players they had on the roster based on original recruiting ranking. It wont take into account injuries but should remove players who transferred out and add ones that transferred in. Obviously there was more going on at Baylor that was an issue and it doesnt tell the story of how experienced the players were but maybe the best we have to try to quantify talent.

Yeah, of all the people I'd look to for insider info. on the Husker coaching search, a former DB I don't remember just second-hand spilling rumors from a vague group of 'paid message board insiders' is pretty low on the list.

It's comical to me how many people will lap this stuff up and have mild panic attacks about it while seemingly dunking on paid journalists. I mean, the journos are likely saying some dumb stuff too, but they generally will vet out the REALLY dumb stuff that just can't be verified.

Its all a Rorschach test right now. People believe what they already did and a lot of people just always things everything is s#!tty so they will latch on to anyone saying we are f#&%ing it up.

This isn't directed at you Red, but that Twitter thread reads like a whole lot of nonsense. Not only is it written in an incoherently rambling format that makes some of our posters look like Edgar Allen Poe, but he later admits that his information is coming from a "paid" message board of people with vague connections.

I'm not saying he's lying, but reading that thread makes me want to buy Lars Anderson stock... and THAT'S saying something.

What's especially funny is he admits later in a reply that Leipold would be an "incredible hire". So wtf is he even saying

If Mickey gets the ASU job, Deion goes to Colorado and Nebraska hires O’Brien who has the best record next year?  My money is on Mickey in year 1. Deion wins 8 in year two and Nebraska makes a bowl in year 3.

BoB is a high floor guy imo. I would feel super confident he goes bowling year 1. Its very hard to say what his ceiling is or if he would even stick around to find out but he is a great organizer and I think he could get things moving quickly.

Deion is a super wildcard. Its possible he just lights it up but I think its just as likely he has some growing pains going up to p5 where he has worse talent than the teams he plays instead of much better talent where he is now.

Yeah when was the last bowl game we won? I can't even remember who we even played or what the results were without looking.

We beat Josh Rosen led UCLA team and one of the bigger backs had a good day for us. Was that ozigbo maybe

I've always thought he would be a really good choice.  But it sounded like he was good where he is.

Obviously winning four FCS championships in five years as a HC is really good.  I didn't realize he was on staff for their three championships before taking over as head coach, the last two as DC.  Knows how to win and has a defensive background - that I like.  Was also the DC at Norther Iowa before going to NDSU.

Do you have any concerns about his ability to recruit? He has been there a while and still they are barely above Kansas in composite roster ranking. Oh course that doesn't tell the whole story and that team plays like they are a top 25 roster.

That's actually why OSU is top of the conference.  They play great defense and special teams like everyone else.  But, to put them over the top, the pair that with a great offense.
