lol. A fun style of offense isnt what we need. Who runs a fun style of offense and is winning in the B1G other then Ohio State.

Just because most teams in the B1G suck at offense doesnt mean we should copy them. Play defense and special teams like them sure but the offenses in this conference are terrible.

A month ago everyone was on the Leipold bandwagon…. Now they’re all jumping off with the quickness. I hope Trev didn’t pull the trigger too soon

Hey Scarlet. Is the plan to make a new account every night and cry about something different?

Well the fact that Monken has done at a non-military academy as well with a very high level of success speaks to his ability to build a culture. However in response to your question about the ease of culture building at an academy, the answer is yes and no. It is true that in respect to discipline and culture Monken has a higher quality of clay to work with because the entire experience of the academy is doing the same and helping to condition the young men and women in a positive way. That being said, it actually isn’t that easy to build a culture of winning just through a military environment or discipline. I have seen plenty of units that were s-shows. Look at what Russia is dealing with currently. It takes a good leader to capitalize on that and realize the potential of his or her unit.

Yeah good point and I keep forgetting about his time at Georgia Southern. I would be unsure if we hired Monken but that would at least mean Trev met with him and did his research and thought he could get it done.

If you listened to TA’s summary of what he is looking for in a coach, Monken checks all of the boxes. He is a grinder who will emphasize development and culture. Nebraska needs a program builder right now, Monken is a proven program builder.

Do you think a coach a military academy has a hard time developing culture?  I would think not only is it way easier, it doesn't translate to building culture for not military kids.

So that has nothing to do with Nebraska if we didn't even talk to him. I don't think our whole coaching search has been focused on just one guy but I could be wrong.  I think that TA has talked to alot of coaches just hope he names one soon this week to get started with putting together a great coaching staff. I hope Bryan Applewhite gets a look to stay on the staff. Ajay Allen and Anthony Grant were so underwhelming bc of our line play.  Yes I know Allen got hurt.

I think the idea of Kiffin being the first domino is if Rhule thinks Auburn could poach Franklin in which case Rhule would pick Penn State over us.

Have you guys seen the highlights of the Arkansas/ Ole Miss game? Kiffin got destroyed. It didn't look much different than the crap we're running except his defense is worse.

Which is funny because Kiffin is one of the highest in all of FBS in percentage of run plays called.

I'd like an offense that is dedicated to getting a RB 25 touches a game.  One the has the ability to do traps, counters and draws to counter an aggressive DL ie anyone that NU faces.  Use a 2 back set to run this. Allow another blocker on passing downs.  A lead blocker when we are up 14-3 to get us 2 yards.  I am a HUGE fan of the triple option.  BUT that was simply another wrinkle for TO's scheme.  Have we used the RB on a toss sweep once this year?  Tried to do anything (even under Frost) to counter the DL or push?  A creative running game, which Whip is incapable of calling, would do wonders.  PA, roll the QB out to pass or on a designed RPO.

Hey im down with all of that. We did do some Brewington lead blocker QB power when Scott was here and also a few times early on we ran QB counter where the HB ran lead block. I cant remember if it was QB or HB counter but Riley had something working with that for a minute. I dont think adding those things will exclusively help a ton since we have had years with good offense running wildly different schemes here. We just need a good HC to make sure every part of the program is effective and manage the roster properly. With a coach like that a lot of schemes will probably work.  I think Rhule is definitely that type of coach if we can land him.

Also I know it seems bad now because he got boat raced at home but Leipold runs all of the stuff everyone is asking for. They run 12, 21, and 22 personnel, and when you watch the games the oline makes nice alleys in the run game and their #1 back has been tearing it up. Their talent rating is 71st which never tells the whole story but if your base talent is that low sometime the 6th rated roster in the country is gonna just push you around.

Bragging about the "sellout" streak is a bit like the Nebraska guy that brags about an affair he had with his instructor. Pretty impressive until you find out that he was home schooled! Yes he got laid, but..............................

Get rid of the sham sellout curse so that you can get back on track of winning!

I think there are a lot of people on here that agree with this already.

The thing is its def a little lame but if other schools were always close enough for a few tickets to be bought by boosters to sell it out then they can do that. The difference is most schools especially with our current record and even more so with our five year record would have half the stadium empty.  Also every school has some hokey thing they act like is real cool.

How much success are we having?

How did i get sucked into this nonsense with yall again. One team not having success does not negate any other number of schools having success.  Meanwhile you still have 0 examples of what yall want actually working.

Did my heart good to see Wisky line up with 2 backs in the backfield and a little I formation.  Again, another reason why I am high on Chadwell.  His O would be very interesting to watch against the B1G.

And yet Wisky managed a whole 15 points vs a bad defense with some pretty good HBs, and both TDs scored by the QB. I dont understand where yall are seeing a good p5 offense that runs what yall want and having actual success on offense with it.

My point exactly.....Auburn is the job at the top of the food chain currently.

I think its more complicated than that. There are coaches that would rather go there and coaches that would rather come here. It's about Rhule having Penn State highest in that scenario, not about him wanting Auburn more. Coaches it seems can win at a lot of places now so I think they can pick based on personal preference more

Bro, as a Steelers fan, stay far, far away from this jacka$$.

He's by far the worst OC we've ever had..and we've had some real stinkers.

Yeah i mean yalls oline is straight garbage, you have an ok to good RB and bad QBs. Also as I said what he does well on offense is limited in the NFL by different motion rules and when you can start blocking down field.

If he gets fired after this year, and it kinda seems like he will, I would be super stoked if he was brought in by the new HC as an OC. What he likes to do is severely limited by the NFL rules. I think if he comes back to the right situation in college again he can do really well.

Here is the newest OWH podcast with Sam, Dirk, and Shatel.  Nothing overly ground breaking.

Sam doesn't think its going to be Rhule

    Too much Monken talk

Sam brings up Fickell a lot.  I found that interesting because he's not mentioned as a viable candidate

    All high on Leipold

Dirk has a theory that Trev has been planning this for a year and decided on his guy a long time ago.  And that guy is Campbell. That jives with rumors that Trev had reached out to Campbell last fall and there was mutual interest until the boosters/admin overruled Trev canning Frost.

What's funny is I'm pretty sure if we had hired Campbell last year after the season I bet the majority of the fan base would have had a positive reaction. Not saying we should get Campbell just funny how quickly perception changes.

Is it not probable to rule out anyone already with a big 10 coaching job.  I would think that would be bad character to go after your fellow in conference coach.  It be like if you were single and trying to steal your brothers girl.

Here is how I feel about this. If our HC was killing it and OSU or Mich needed one they are absolutely gonna try to steal our coach and wouldn't even think twice about it.

This is a terrible take.  Watt was 2nd team All-American, 1st team All-B1G.  He was picked 11th overall.  He was plenty good at Wisconsin.

Suh has 20.5 TFLs his last season.  Watt had 21 TFLs his last season.

Sorry I did not include any indication but I was mostly joking.

    Bielema or Bust.

    - 80-34 as B1G HC

    - 3 B1G championships

    - Outstanding player developer (turned JJ Watt from a TE to a HOF pro EDGE)

    - Nebraska's daddy

    - knows how to recruit in the Midwest

He actually is the only Wisconsin coach we have beaten since we joined the B1G. Also JJ watt had 7 sacks in his last season at Wisconsin that's more of a negative to me that he had a HOF defensive player that had one of the best single seasons in NFL history and didn't really get much from him.  Its like he had Suh and had a good not great season from him.

He’s won everywhere he’s been.  He’s been at multiple levels.

Mangina, who got screwed, is the only other person to win at Kansas.  Les Miles couldn’t win there.  Kansas stinks and he has them in a bowl.

Yeah that post you replied to belongs in the bad take thread. Leipold has already took a p5 team to a bowl game. Frost couldn't do that in 5 years with a way better roster.
