image.thumb.png.06eec445c5915946fac8d816de0ee802.pngStats from the Starting QB of a title team (Not even close to the best QB last year, light years better than Sims)

So wait Sims Freshman year he had:

    1478 yds, 7.8 ypa, 12 TD 7 int

    Stetson Bennet Junior year

    1179 yds, 7.6 ypa, 8 TDs 6 int

Fire Kirby Smart. How did he think Bennet would even be a good QB after stats like that!!!

I thought Lebby was married to Art’s daughter

Yeah iirc he was even defending him after the scandal. So that's a good point that it doesn't really matter to be seen when he already is associated.

    Sorry Nebraska

No worries just making sure lol. There are a lot of people in the football world and fans that take that stuff very lightly.

art Briles being on Oklahoma side lines last week you would think would help

For who? Anyone associating with Briles still seems like a scumbag.

Really good post overall but I wanted to comment on this specific part because, IMO, I think right now is probably one of the best times to be a dual-threat quarterback because of the actual or perceived success of several current NFL quarterbacks considered "dual-threat" (or, at the very least, more mobile and non-traditional pocket passers). Guys like Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, Patrick Mahomes, and Daniel Jones. Now, Jones and Fields aren't guys you'd willingly pick to lead your franchise if you could pick from several other NFL QBs, but they're still starters in the NFL.

So, I think in a vacuum, running a dual-threat QB in a college-specific offense isn't necessarily curtailing much. There are a lot of programs around the country that have done this and produced all-conference QB's or even an NFL QB... teams which, on paper, have less recruited talent than Nebraska. I think the bigger problem is Nebraska can't sustain success and can't develop a QB. If I'm a good high school QB, I would have a very hard time choosing Nebraska over frankly 40-50 other programs that have at least shown me something interesting the last near decade.

Adding on to this about dual threat. Anthony Richardson just got drafted 4th after a single pretty meh passing season just because his physical tool set was so good.

Move the goalposts and add extra stipulations to try and discredit a clear point that Deion has drastically improved  a worse program than Rhule.

But sure, I’ll bite - Kalen DeBoer just did it last year. He got his qb from the portal. It happened in our program history too with Bob Devaney. Before him we had 6 losing seasons. His first year we won 9 games.

    We want results, not excuses.

DaBoer would be a great point if he didn't bring Penix from where he was the OC.

The Scott Frost experiment clearly showed that being an alumni was not enough to get the job done. Same with Trev. Was he really the right guy, or did t just feel good at the time? Like Frost, Trev was going to be the savior………not so much.

The Rhule pressers sounds just like Frost. Great practices, guys are buying into the program, we are just a couple of plays away from winning, yada, yada, yada. He says it will take a few years? Maybe in the old days! With the portal and NIL, Colorado has proven that a turnaround can happen FAST. Frankly, I would pin that decision making squarely on Trev Alberts.

I really hope that the next coach will be better.

How many quick turnarounds have we seen that didn't bring a QB from a previous school?

  7. If you put someone on the ignore list does it make the idiotic useless threads they post disappear too? If not can we take people's ability to create new posts if they have proven to not mature enough to handle it because every loss it brings a wave of these terrible topics.

Sanders is erratic with his accuracy and that stunted multiple Colorado drives today. Their run game was non-existent for the majority of the game. I expect the majority of our opponents to have better all-around offensive play.

Colorado has the best offense we will face this year in scheme and personnel.  Maybe Michigan is close and Maryland has some of that but neither are as good as what we saw today. The rest of what we will face will be in a different category all together.

Trying to be trendy much? Alabama will take care of Texas this year and by a wide margin I would guess. Has Bama ever lost back to back seasons to the same regular season opponent under Saban?

Well tbf Alabama beat them last year. It just felt like a win for Texas because they had a shot at it. Bama is however like 34-1 at home or something like that in their last 35 games and that one loss is to the 2019 LSU tigers.

I honestly think they got lucky that Morris got hurt last year. He looked like dog s#!t most of the game; overthrows, underthrows, throwing way behind guys, late throws on the picks, etc

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Duggan just had poise and made plays at the end of the game all last year when needed. Having Quentin Johnson probably helped though.

Do you really think a championship contending roster is one deep at each position? And morris was the starter and got hurt to start the year! They might not be the team they were last year but they definitely are more put together than us and Minnesota!

Considering they won 5 games the year before yes I'd say it's not crazy to say TCU is not a team that is deep enough to handle losing that many players

Well you’re talking the ability to recruit and I’m saying the ability to develop can cancel out stars in recruiting. Smart Alec

Sonny Dykes was there at TCU for one off-season before last year and inherited a lot of draft level talents that are gone now. TCU is not an elite recruiter that has players to replace them with in one year. It's more a question of if their defense was a fluke last year or not. Dykes is a good offensive coach but even their offense took a hit this year with a downgrade at QB and losing 2 WRs and a HB and a G to the draft.

Comfortable lead?  I'm worried about bing down 17 to CU fast.  How are we going to stop them?  How are we going to come back when we can't pass reliably?

Matt gave us clues to the Minny game we may have ignored.  Grant is fumbling.  The Offense has Fall practice procedural issues.  We saw those exact things at Minnesota.

And he has also said "It's not how we start the season but can we get better each week."

This last one I see as a hedge.   Lastly, we have a veteran team that has only seen close-loss failures.  Can we recover mentally?

I think CU handles us next Saturday as much as I hate typing this out.

The point being that it's not like we ran vs Minnesota because we were milking it. We ran because they want to run the ball.

Recruits well? We are top 25 every year. How about development lol

Wow you really missed the point. Read over and try this again when you understand.

How much will we run if we get in a hole early?  They're explosive, and Sims could throw it to anyone on the field at any moment.

It's not like we we had a comfortable lead at any point vs Minnesota and they stuck with it. Colorado has a good OC and some skill players but TCU is not a school that recruits well and just lost players from every level of their defense to the draft.

Well, taking into account the lack of WR weapons and the O-Line shakiness, if you give me a choice between a QB that can run and a QB that can't run, I'll take the QB that is mobile. I will say, Casey Thompson most likely completes that deep bomb to Hill.

Did y'all forget the beginning of the year last season when Thompson under threw deep ball after deep ball to a wide open Palmer? He nailed it in the Purdue and Iowa game but there is no way you are going to say that you take a single deep throw and Casey would for sure hit it. I'm pretty sure he missed a deep ball that was easier to hit in game 1 vs northwestern.

I’m thinking people are misunderstanding the point of Dirk’s Tweet.

Yeah on both sides somehow I think. 1 score losses sunk Frost because he continued to do so in most of his games for 4 years. It's been a single game and Rhule can't coach and Colorado is going to win the natty already.
