Okie State QB Sanders and Pitt QB Slovis to the portal. QB’s are hired guns now in this day and age. Too much on the line to sit and wait your turn or lose your job and become a backup. I don’t really like it but it is what it is. If Rhule is the talent evaluator we keep hearing about he needs to make sure we have viable QB’s. So many are in the portal now. Who does he target?
I'm sure Rhule will make the ultimate call but I think maybe Satterfield combined with some assistants will make the call on what QB to go after. I don't think Rhule is a great QB evaluator. Maybe he is but from what I can tell his true eye for talent is on defense at really every level and WR on offense.

Well now that he's going to CU, we need a thread where the Deion haters admit they underestimated him.
If you like excitement and recruits and a fundamental program change, Boulder might have the edge.
If you had to lay money on that Nebraska vs, Colorado game next September......
What does it prove that he went to Colorado? It proves that none of the real CFB players wanted him.
It's not even hating on him to say he has not proven anything in terms of coaching. He has barely even coached. Every other top level coach worked up through assistant roles before becoming a major HC. Do we have any confidence that he can correct his coordinators if they need it? He says some coach speak that pretty much every other coach says. Hey he wants players to give it there all. I cant believe no coach has thought of that. Let's see what he does when he has to have a chess match with someone that has actually been doing it at a high level.
I don't really see anyone saying he sux just that you have no idea. Do you know what he actually wants the product on the field to look like? He just hasn't proven anything at all really outside of recruiting. On field he has proven he is one of 100s of coaches that have won at lower levels and he did it with a bigger talent gap than any of them by far. It's possible he is a great coach but it's a huge huge guess at this point.

If you put together a dozen clips of my favorite offensive plays from Nebraska this year, I'd declare Whipple a genius.
He did have a Heisman and Biletnikoff winner just a season ago and led one of the nation's most prolific offenses. Everything here was a mess but Whipple can design a passing offense and we just had the most yards for a WR in school history and he was open enough to have 1500 yards

Saw some rumors of Greg Roman to Stanford. I don't think that would have been a good fit for our situation right now but I bet he can do great in college. He should be able to find plenty of QBs to run his offense.

Rhule seemed to have a clear vision in his press conference. He wants young energetic recruiters on staff and he wants to hit Texas, Florida, Northeast and 500 mile radius. Elijah Robinson fits that and gives us a better path into Texas. Barthel also, young coach with all his experience being recruiting the northeast.

If that’s why they did better, I don’t want them.
FYI….I don’t believe that’s why they did better.
I saw some SCar fans that seem to think he is one of those really smart OCs that maybe just gets too complicated for his own good and really simplified things the last 2 weeks. Now that definitely sounds like a common fan thing to just say but who knows.

Interesting progression.
It sounded like Carolina was throwing a fit that we weren't paying enough, so we had to up it. And that's probably what happened. But I was thinking it would be more in the $8-9M each year.
If we were only going to pay him in the $5M range each year while Carolina was still picking up the rest of the tab, I could see why they balked. Of course, they should balk at anything less than what they are on the hook for, that's just good business.
Can't wait until 2027 when we have a $10M coach....
I wonder if 10 mil will be still in the top 10 of cfb by then?

I'm not sure Leonard even matches up with the defense Rhule likes to run

So from what I can gather Rhule will want to run 4 dline in base. Would we hire just one dline coach then?

Honestly, this article is terrible. It's a borderline template where Nebraska can be replaced with any team in the country.
I stopped reading when he called the hire racist in the 2nd paragraph.

Stanley Morgan
Samori Toure
Neither has started right? Toure has looked good in the limited action I saw him in and he would have at least one more TD if Rodgers wouldnt have underthrown it. I really thought he would be a good combo with Rodgers but that team is a mess this year.
Maybe I am overrating his speed but Palmer to me could be like a Will Fuller type who teams in the NFL can really use to open things up. I could see him as a perfect addition to the Chargers or even the Chiefs.

Quincy Enunwa was/is the only other I can remember, but he had an injury plagued career for sure.
Oh yeah forgot about that. I think it took him a few years and then he looked solid but then couldn't stay healthy. He was fun to watch on the Jets. I even picked him up in fantasy at one point.

Would love to have Palmer stay but he should be at least a 3rd round pick at this point and if he cuts a good 40 he will shoot up to a possible first. Coming back to college would be a mistake for him. Also it will be nice of we finally have a starting WR in the NFL for the first time in what 20+ years. Unless you count Niles Paul who I think only played TE in the NFL

We did pull them but they never lasted here. The high star recruits that came never panned out in the first place. That to me is or was part of the problem that SF had. Not only developing but also retaining those kids to develop them. I think he banked on the fact those kids would get developed and win for him and when that didn't happen they left and put him in a tough spot. But I do agree with you that we can get kids just have to be able to use them to help the team win.
Yeah good point Riley and Frost both had a hard time getting the good recruits to contribute and stay. Covid was part of the issue with some of the Florida kids with Scott but him and his staff played their own part too obviously.

From what I have seen watching Baylor games under Rhule, Thompson is better than the QBs he was winning with. So I'd say if you can get a better portal one fine but he is extremely far from the biggest issue to address.

I have been arguing that Nebraska with Rhule is not going to be out-recruiting Texas programs for quality Texas players. There will be no "pipeline". You responded by stating that Nebraska had higher rated classes than Baylor. So your statement had nothing to do with my original argument and did not merit a response, but I was gracious and confirmed that yes, Nebraska did in fact have higher rated classes.
We have been pulling good players out of Texas, Florida and California. We are never going to get more of those recruits than the bigger home state schools but its false to say that we cant pull kids out of those states. We pulled good players from Florida mostly because of Frost and his staff connections down there. Same thing Mickey did from Louisiana and Riley and his connections to Cali. If we have a head coach with connections to Texas we can absolutely pull a good amount of 4 stars out of there.

Why dont you go do that instead of just saying that they dont know? Is it maybe because its true and you are trying to change the argument. I looked through the ranking thoroughly for all coaching candidates as the search went. The only way to even find the other SWAC teams is to search outside of the website to find them. Outside of Jackson state they have never cracked the threshold to make it on to be found. 247 doesnt even have a SWAC tab. The teams in that conference mostly bring in kids that dont even get a page on the recruiting sites.
Jasckson State's talent composite ranking this year is literally higher than the Big 12 Champion. JSU's roster ranking is 67 this year. The next closest in their conference is 128.
